Hi my name is Kathy and just found your web site on youtube my 8 year old granddaughter has got me started watching and I am so glad she did as I am an opal baby on the 4th of this mo.i will be 63 years young,I still work care for the grandchildren every chance I get and love every minute of it.i have been very fortunate to have owned some very beautiful and unusual pieces but just recently my home was broken into 3 times in a month while I was gone and all my prize pieces were stolen, and that's something you can't replace so I have been watching you and admiring your work even had the thought to purchase some stones and try my hand at turning opals of my own who knows just a thought maybe? Thank you so much and you are so talented keep them coming Kathy Meadows Carrollton KY.
Glad you found me 😊😊🙏 thank you
2:30 and today is my 63rd birthday watching you cut black opals and the value is unbelievable but again why would you want a diamond when you could have an opal no 2 the same it's amazing they are amazing my 8 year old granddaughter knew what she was doing teaching me about youtube I am hooked on black opal direct ,I would love to try my hand at this cutting them that is and I think with watching you it just might b possible ,if only I were lucky enough to receive a black opal for my birthday as I told you about my home being broken into and lost all of mine ,idiots they will pay in the end but thanks again I love every segment I watch have a great Sunday.
30:20 "I'm getting off topic and there is too much silliness. I won't be dancing any more".
I know I'm commenting a year after this video hit the airwaves, but I hope you realise that we don't ONLY come here for the Opals. One of the other main reasons we all come here is BECAUSE of the silliness! We WANT to watch you dancing, telling your "Dad jokes" and going up and down the escalator / lift / spiral staircase etc to your "Rumpus Room". Please NEVER stop being silly! It's your personality that draws us!!
Keep up the good work, mate! (And keep dancing!)
Haha thanks Phil I will stop one day when I grow up. Nearly 50 now haha
I live in Tennessee and I've been watching you for close to a year now.I know absolutely nothing about rubbing opal but I love watching you.It amazes me how you take a rock and turn it into something so beautiful.Since I started watching you black opal has become my favorite gemstone. Each one is unique and full of character. Thanks for making videos of your craft, I truly enjoy watching.
Whenever I had a stressful day or I am in some way angry or upset, I watch you cutting opal and it's all better. Much
🙏
The nice thing about your dances is that it shows how happy you are and that kind of thing helps inspire others to pursue their dreams of doing this! I for one have been wanting to do what youre doing for so long but never pursued it till just recently when i started watching your videos. Im 50 now and sooo looking forward to starting this new journey. Your videos help inspire!
Aaron from TX here. Just wanted to thank you for bringing opal into my life. I went from watching all your videos from just about all years and purchasing your beginners rough and videos cutting by hand. To now almost a year later and a full shop with saw and cabbing machine and all the trimmings. Now selling beautiful opal and Australian opal only. Hopefully one of these days I'll be able to cut and sell the quality opal you do. Thanks Justin so very much for sharing your experience and introducing me to the new love if my life lol.
Wow you are welcome I am glad you are enjoying the journey. Warms my heart

I realise this post is 3 yrs past but in regards to tipping in America-I was a server in the U.S midwest waaay back in 94 & was being paid $2.40 hr. & averaging $35.00 on tips alone. (Wage went to taxes.) That being said, the best tippers were Australian. They always tipped 35-40%. Loved the accent too!
I see on other channels that they put up that they will be doing a live show at a partickular time.im sure you would get a lot more tuning in.great vids, cheers

great videos'love your stuff
That stone is so pretty... I really love the inclusions in it... It just shows the beauty of the stone...
Sad I missed the livestream but still enjoying the playback! Viewing from over the ditch in NZ :) I've just joined my local rock and mineral club, hoping to use their equipment to learn to cut and cab!
glad you enjoy watching. The older lapidists at the clubs don't like to give too many secrets away. So you can watch learn on my vids and give them hell hahah
I love this Channel and especially Justin! I have learned so much from watching him cut, explain , problem solve. I'm now getting involved into cutting Opal and I purchased equipment, tools, cerium oxide, dop sticks, just everything.. I'm so excited, he got me so excited to do this. My Opals are from lightning Ridge. I'm learning all about my birthstone. I was wondering Justin have you any videos on Boulder Opal cutting?
Him is happy to hear
I binge watch all his shows everyday! Learning something new Everytime.
I missed the live show, but just watched the video. I really enjoy watching you cutting opals. They are all beautiful. How often do you do a live show?
Thank you. I do one every week or so. It’s a bit random. 😬
Beautiful
realy like your show.
Nice video. Informative
Well done my friend (mark H. Las Vegas, Bali )
those pale blue are just mesmerizing
I wish I knew how to work this live chat!
6:33 "I'm gonna clean up that little space and that's all where the stone is gonna be. BUFFALO! Alright"
Unbeknownst, in between your thumbs at that exact moment... is a white cap buffalo.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the great tutorials !
I've always been an amateur rock hound since I was a kid and I find opals absolutely amazing. I received a small jar of rough Mexican opals fro a friend of my mother's when I was about 12 years old. You have inspired me to try and find them the next time I go back to Chicago to visit my father. If you ever get up to the northern border of New York, I would love to take you fishing up on the St. Lawrence river. Thanks again.
Thanks John I appreciate the support
The misses would make lovely buttons on clothing.
I can see it on a white silky blouse.
Or a cluster on a black-black coat.
They are still gems!
G' Day to you also from the West Coast of USA
Little late to the party. So many opals!
I'm sorry Kevin you missed it but at least you can still watch it :-)
Black Opal Direct
hi Justin, I have sent an Email through Balck opal’s website regarding the Torch you introduced couple of weeks ago (price and delivery). And I had left few messages in your RUclips videos regarding the same thing. No news no answer mate. Wish you all the best.
Thank you.
Andy
how'd I miss this live? 😡 Pretty pebbles as always.💰 If you would, could you explain the difference between opalescent and iridescent? ❤
Hey, I love silly, it makes me happy, you are a great person. PLEASE DON'T STOP THE DANCING!!!! It is one of the reasons I watch.
LOL thank you and okay
Beautiful love you videos 👨
A box of chocolates “ you never know what’s inside “ amazing 😉
Annette Halliday that’s Hilarious, and so true. The anticipation from a chunk of nobby to a perfect gem, such fun to witness. Thanks Justin.
I'm not going to hit the bed tonight. Not yet. Because here's another live show I missed.
- And it does not help with memory pills, as I forget to take them. Again 😃
Thank You for sharing sir👍
Thank you
Let’s see what comes out of them
top job boy
Hi Jason from Rob Jones. Kent UK
Could you talk about how to purchase rough opal what to look for and how much it should cost you for quality and what would you look for in the rough
Omgoddess gorgeous.
Would love to see a crazy carving on like that big sandy one from the bucket
So that's how it's done! Informative. Thank you!
Thats a long ways for a ski trip.
Your a clever clever man
Wish you had done the one you skipped, it was the oval and had blue and green in the color bar.
Could you use a dremal to get the sand off?
there was opal in stand stone, dammm
Would love one of those that you don't sell. The piece with potch in it. Was way cool 😎👍
I'm watching too ...😁
Hey, I made it finally. I would love to go skiing with you guys. How's it going? Hope all is well.
g'day
you should sell the jar of beaten opals. I would love to polish them even as is. messy opals are nice to me.
hi larry
i would LOVE To make wire work jewelry out of those light blue pieces. I know its not worth it for you to continue polishing them, but would you consider selling grab bags of your rejects?
hi my husband and i just come across an opal, do you think we could send you a pic and you could let us know what you think please
Justin about how much does an average parcel of rough like the one your cutting cost, your the best!!!!
40k
I'm binge watching your video's; so going back to the beginning and working through.. SO..
I have been thinking about what you could do with those beautiful stones that are ruined by sand that goes right through the stones.. What about making beads out of them using a Dremel to drill the hole where the sand spot is? I imagine it might be somewhat fiddly as you would have to assess each stone and center the sand spots, but it might be an interesting project.
imagine doing a opal Marquetry from the small pieces usable opal
@@paulruesink8917 Oh that would be amazing. I have one made from shells depicting 2 storks on a tree. The things you could do with opal.. oh WOW
Hello from kugluktuk nunuvut
seeing how many duds you have actually makes me feel a little lighter, its painful to put a lot of time into something and not get the desired results. I do keep every piece of color no matter how small so I can come up with new ideals to display the beauty, thanks for all you do
Yes I also keep the duds. Its reality as I get many duds
Me on repeat: Gotta see that piece of gorgeousness over there get worked on!
Justin: Ehh, I'm not so excited about that piece. (flings That Piece away)
Into the seconds container
And I really mean that
nice opal,any white?
These stones are pretty but by far my least favorite. I love your videos, they are very informative and the beauty of all opas are amazing. My favorite of course is the black opals.. these light blue colors are simply gorgeous. I can't wait to see the purple opal! Thanks.
Thank you Denise
Haha, grumpy germans... We can't help it XD
Such gorgeous opals, there is just no stone more beautiful to me
Justin are you going to Tucson this year
We still are unsure
It just sounds so dirty, exposing those opals. You cad!
What is rare blue opal
If you don't laugh you just cry
Do you have any experience with cutting rubies or sapphires? of course opals are top but i would love to see how to tackle different gemstones, Cheers
Never cut any other gem
What machine is this?
Where are you from?
