I had the original version of this as a kid, and I *loved* it! Never even thought about it as an introduction to programming, though that's basically what it was. Nice to know they brought it back. Got tons of use out of that toy.
i can remember this as im aged 44 now,i had a trailer on mine,i must say it does look as if the big trak is not as well made as the first one,i cant remember if it had that on and of swich.but its great to see it back.
Hi Dave, ahhh man all those memmory's have come flooding back to me,I used to spend hour's driving my mom & dad up the wall with this toy,It was the best toy i ever had,Hour's of fun till the battery's ran out of course, lol, well wicked, gonna be a big his i recon with the new generation of children out there, man i wish i could go back in time, seeing this toy again after so many yrs, friggin AWESOME DUDE !!,Thank's fro the video bro !!
I had this one in 1986 in USSR, my aunt bought this for me when I was 4 years old, it cost 25 roubles when average salary was about 100 roubles a month
I wanted one of these so badly as a child! Sadly Santa never did get round to bringing me one. I recently got myself one of the Big Trak Jr. (half size version of the one you showed) and have had really enjoyed watching it traverse the patio. A good teaching aid for children too.
I had this toy over 30 years ago....and i experimented alot with it. Was fun!! It's not as easy to get it to do what you wanted.....but i was probably 9
Dave as a kid me and brother had one I'm 39 now not sure whose it actually was anyhow the tv ad showed a kiddy programming his to deliver a green apple to his father as I think it had some trailer attachment gizmo on the original can't remember if ours did though good times
I agree !! I always wanted one of these as a kid there about a third of the price they were 30 years ago !! The decals remind me of some british leyland cars lol !!
You are pointing out that the other wheels as if you really didn't know?? This originally was released in 1979. Nobody ever thought it was for outdoor use.
Big trak looks so much better without the decals as they fade and peel over time and eventually Big trak looks tacky. It was good to see this classic toy reborn in 2010 but this has seriously devalued the original Big traks.
two rubber bands made the wheels a six wheeler and linoleum floor traction better. I think my parental made from an interrupt. The trailer attachment broke at its pivot point. The 8-track robot trivia game I had until I ran out of trivia. and I bought a walkman for cassette tape.
@justinwiggy Not true that only rich kids had these. I had one and I was NOT from a rich family. We had 5 kids and my dad was in school sales. We were very much middle class...which essentially doenst exist any longer.
One of my favorite childhood toys. Didn't know it at the time, but it was teaching me basics of programming and robotics.
Awesome toy :D

Many thanks. I agree. Brings back so many memories.
@blothian01 Was it a disc shape, You could type in like coordinates and it would follow them
@trotty68 It was available many years ago. Cool it is now in production again.
@Gpod71 Cool, thanks for taking the time to comment.

Had one of these for christmas in the 80s. My kid is now 8. Might think about getting one of these if I can find it in the states
I had one of these back in the 80s. It was a lot of fun. I also had the trailer that was sold seperately. I miss this toy.
@guildwarior6 Rolling it out proper mid-November. This was edited before I did the new intro.
The round part 9n top held a 9 volt , I used to put a star was ars figure in there , still have mine from 1980, but mines gray not white.
🤓👍🏻
I wanted one of that when i was a child but never got it. A classmate did get one for Christmas and we enjoyed a lot programming it it was very cool.
+Trompicavalas Likewise!

Only the rich kids had these...they cost less now than they did 30 years ago. Very cool toy. Great review
does the remake have wifi, app to control it from the internet?
I had one of these as a kid with the trailer. I only remember playing with this once.
@justinwiggy Thanks for watching.

Your aunt really loved you. God bless her.
First released in 1979. Nice to see this instant classic still for sale!
Mike Hunt Great toy for sure.
I had one about 40 years ago.. Great toy

I had one in the 90's :)

My brother had something lt this but it was a car. Any ideas? I thought it was a gold or yellow color
Not sure on this 🤔
Geekanoids, would you mind me using some clips from this video and giving you credit?
Fine by me :D … keep them under 10 secs if possible.
@@geekanoids absolutely, a couple of clips, no more than 10 seconds in length and will link to this video in the video description.
I wonder if you could put elastic bands around the wheels to yield better traction?
+starsiegeplayer More than likely.

Brings back good memories.
I had one in the 80's and also the trailer. The original version was also only driven on the middle wheels.
Hi I have no manual but what does the i and ii mean on the on off button
Is there a difference
It might be two speeds.
Geekanoids cheers will try it again it's pretty addictive
Do you ever have to Lube The inside gears?
I have not had to.
Thank you
@YankiEBubbAAussiE It was out before, this is a re-release.
@davomrmac i HAD one of these in the 80's, along with the dumptruck addon. Miss the old color scheme though. And I def wasn't a rich kid...
Had one, only issue was it would burn through the D batteries at an alarming rate!!!
Same here.

REMAKE. THEY. NEED. TO. REMAKE. THAT.
🤓👍🏻
its looks the nuts, but good fun ?
🤓👍🏻
It really is for the sentimental minded as it's retro-appealling like the rubix cube or Connect 4 or Etch-A-Sketch etc
@MrDrone1967 Thanks.

OMG I HAVE ONE OF THESE FROM MY CHILDHOOD! :)
@justinwiggy Not true that only rich kids had these. I had one and I was NOT from a rich family. We had 5 kids and my dad was in school sales. We were very much middle class...which essentially doenst exist any longer.
Wasn't this a toy back in the 80's? I swear a friend of mind from childhood had one.
Beautiful! I Have to order one Now,,,, :)
Congrats :D
Seriously, it looks like the Walrus from the Carrier Command game don't you think?
Man the 80's had some crap.
:D:D:D
I always figured it was inspired by the original Battlestar Galactica, especially the front end of the toy.
They are £19 at maplins now, buying one for the kid (and me of course :)
