WOW - 30 bucks is pretty amazing but I agree the two expansions are even worse than the base game :-D But you can really enjoy the game as-is with the base game as it comes with a ton of stuff!
Wow. A trip down memory lane! Never played the board game but I used to play vanilla WoW on the PC years ago. The place names really took me back :D Looking forward to seeing how the solo rules work out. Good luck mate!
Same here, Paul! Played the first WoW quite some time :) Also curious how things turn out but I believe this might be the wrong Overlord for solo play - especially with my die-rolling-ability ;-)
It looks an interesting game Xavier. I'll have to check it out! I like the way they use the artwork from the video game on the cards for the iconography etc. Overall a bit of a nostalgia overload! :D Hopefully you can give Nefarian a run for his money Markus! At least you aren't taking on Deathwing... ;-)
Bought this game when I was about 13 years old. Still have it in my collection, along with its expansions. Mechanically its honestly not that great of a game, but its still fun to play especially if your a fan of WoW. Once a year we get together with the guys, and make a day out of it as a sort of nostalgia trip; no joke you really do need a whole day its a long ass game...
Agreed - the normal mode with 6 players takes ages and becomes a simple dice fest at the end! But it still has great elements, so I definitely keep it ;)
I miss this game. I bought it when I was 21 or 22 and sold it a couple years after for $20 at a yardsale. Not that long ago I was telling my friends about this and I was going to buy it and my heart sank when I saw how much this game is worth now.
Yes, this is insane! I also thought about selling this a couple of years ago because I didn't really play it but guess what: happy I didn't. Really sorry for you though! :-(
Yeah, gathering people to play a board game is reeealy hard task nowadays. I also own Twilight Imperium 3rd edition with two expansions and cannot get more than 4 people around the table at a time. And each time there's someone new in the company, who doesn't know the rules. Good Luck in future adventures. Best regards, from Russia.
Once again you have hijacked my gaming Markus! I was wondering what to play next, saw this video and just like that I was off questing in Lordaeron. I played a Dwarf Hunter and Draenei Shaman, and barely defeated Lord Kazzak. Thank you for letting us all know of this solo variant. I thought it worked very well, and will play again as Horde. I'm wondering whether t use the Blue quests from the expansions.
Thanks so much, Paul! Out of curiosity: how long did your runthrough take? ;-) Right now I am not really using any expansion stuff, only the additional figures from Burning Crusade! But actually I really love the dungeon idea... maybe the next time ;-)
Thanks for your comment but I don't really know the exact measures and the game is currently in "deep storage" :-D But it's relatively big for sure. The game is out of print for quite some time actually, so you might be lucky grabbing a copy somewhere from the Internet (but sometimes the prices are crazy though). Good luck hunting :-D
HAH! i just found my unopened copy of this board game, i love wow and played the pc game alot and got the board game in 2007 i think, but never opnened it🤣 it looks fun tho!
Hello! i Have a question, Are you only allowed 2 characters by the solo rules from hedgehog? or could you also play 3? since in a 6 player Game i guess you get 3 vs the overlord, so using 2 Sounds like youre giving yourself a harder Time?? thanks again for the video!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your comment :) The variant specifically states 2 heroes, so I think it seems to be balanced that way. Definitely sure you can play it with 3 heroes but then it would have been too easy I guess... might need to tweak some events eventually.
@@jomormont DAMN you actually replied, I to want to get it, I encountered it once in a regular card shop but i wasn’t sure if it was it or not. So maybe if u still want it you could order it off the blizzard store or in a card shop
@@flyingpenguin5978 Yeah or perhaps Amazon or E-bay if nothing else, I remember the WoW boardgame was pretty high in price last time I checked a couple years back.
Just this month I bought a sealed copy of the base game and expansions for $450 + shipping. I also bought the 2007 blizzcon epic card pack for $110 + shipping also sealed. Total to buy a game with all its expansions and exclusive pack all sealed 15 years after its release: Around $650. Of course not counting the cost of sleeving more than 1000 cards and laminating the sheets. Expensive no doubt.
i have a copy of this game. played 3 times with my brother. just figured out there is a demand for this game again, incredible
Oh yes, it's still very much in demand! :D
@@realjplay will probably remove the dust, give it a try again. I prefer asymetric strategy games at the moment, but was never shy of a good RPG
Never even heard of the board game for this until just recently and now i really want to get a hold of it
Might be tough (or expensive) now to get a copy. But it's really a fun port!
@@realjplay i found the original on ebay for 30, the shadow one or what ever its expansion was called was pricey though

Catweazle I normally play both sides. It can be just as fun!

+Xavier Gamez thanks for answering a question i now do not need to ask anyone!

Found it on ebay for 30 bucks
Just won this on ebay for £35
Just snagged one from good will for 5 bucks
That’s very nice.
This weekend I and my daughter are playing the co-op mode, really looking forward to.
Thanks! For me this coop mode is the "only way" to play this game!

Thanks much!
Hello friend, excuse me, can you give me the measurements of the board?
And another question, do you know where I can get this great game? regards

eBay. Table you want is 5x5 to give you room. A card table is too small
Replay of this when? :(

Wow - an "unopened copy"! This will push tears into the eyes of a lot of board gamers :-D
I was the same. It takes a few goes to get used to gameplay
Don't open it and you'll have a treasure in no time. :)

Did you just say 'Ga-Nolls"? for Gnolls?
I say a lot of stupid things :)
How much did you spend to get your hands on this rare game? Or did you obtain it a long time ago?
Do you still wanna know 4 years later? Or nah
@@flyingpenguin5978 Sure I still have some interest in it, never got around to buying it yet myself.

Is there a link for the Solo Rules?
I thought I put those in... I must have missed it ;-) But here you go: boardgamegeek.com/filepage/78762/world-warcraft-solo-and-cooperative-play-v20
Thank you ever so much jPlay :) I have this game but just never found the people to play with. finally... i can start my own solo adventures.
And you are very welcome! It's really a great game with one of the best combat rules out there - it's actually a great coop experience!
