Wow, I have always been a fan of George and even to this day I have not seen all his movies, in comparison to today's music the tunes and lyrics out class anything going, I am very happy that his tradition is still ongoing, he was the King of Lancashire and I'm a southerner saying this.

My pop gave us his George Formby 78rpm, bakelite records around 1959, along with his wind-up clock spring driven gramophone record player. As a 7-8 year old I loved his happy music and still do. How great is it now that I can listen to him on RUclips. My own children hated having to listen to him as kids in the 80's-90's and still knock my music tastes today. One of my favourites was "I love to hike, that's what I like. Ay for it's the grandest kind of life. etc

    Thanks Alan!
Yes I met George Harrison twice - what a great guy, no ego at all, just genuinely enthusiastic about the uke... He was mad about it, like all of us - once you get the uke bug you're hooked! Enjoy your playing & thanks for the comment! Andy

George ha catturato la simpatia di moltissime persone col suo modo di presentarsi e la sua originalità di suonare il bj. Sono contento che ci siano molti ammiratori e musicisti. Tu sei fantastico e ti ascolto sempre molto volentieri! Bravissimo!

I was really touched by the story Andy. In fact it wasn't GF that inspired me to take up the uke but someone seen briefly on the video - Doc Cox. To cut a long story short I have appear on an album or two of his. (Well, his friend, Ivor Biggun, about whom we best not say too much...!)

Thanks for this great video Andy. I played this uke before its restoration and that's one memory I'm very fond of. I remember you talking about the decision to have it restored on stage in Digswell.
