Alice is hands down one of the best villains of all time. She's evil and a complete psycho but still very much human. Kind of like Sir Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs but Alice has that human factor. She's not some boogeyman or supervillain hiding under the bed, she's the real deal.
I was about to say pretty much the same thing, she's Hannibal in the same way Luther's Clarice; at least he is around her
She's not 'evil' she's just not burdened with all the neurosis ordinary people are. This is how we all used to be before superstitious brain washing shaped us in to submissive lemmings with no anima. Alice is no more 'evil' than a shark or a lion or a spider. The media glamourises sociopaths incessantly. In fact in recent years you may have noticed that the sociopath has become the new 'hero' in most shows/movies. The reason for this is simple: we all secretly wish to be freed from the artifical burden of conscience and at liberty to indulge the animal that, on a fundamental biological level, we truly are. That is the main theme of their relationship in the show btw. Luther is jaded enough to see the truth and teeters on the brink the whole time. The ending, I thought, was great in that it wasn't a typically lame BBC PC cop out. ;)
cgavin1 (places hand over mouth and makes a farting sound)
GABNASH59 Oh you atheist, you so funny!
cgavin1
Alice isn't a sociopath, she's a psychopath; there is a difference in that Alice is incapable of truly feeling empathy. There are a number of people in the series that could be classed as sociopaths though, including Luther himself to some extent, so you're right to talk about the glamorisation of such people in the show (and in TV in general) from that point of view.
Whether or not Alice is evil depends on a each of our individual, subjective opinions on what 'evil' is. What I think most of us can agree on is that she is a truly great VILLAIN and that's in no small part down to her psychopathy, combined with her genius level intelligence and relatively harmless (and as such incongruous) appearance.
Take away Alice and Luther is just a another 'good' detective show. It's alice and her interactions with Luther that made this show 'exceptional'
+Jugglez 92 #REAL TALK! 💯💯💯
Jugglez 92 so true
Another show full of hatred and fascism....
Crazy talk. Luther is the best part of the show. This man is amazing to watch and total makes you believe he is capable of almost anything good and bad.
Yeah luther and alice are the heartbeat of the show,I hope they find some way to bring her back into the new series
"you can mimic it but you'll never understand it"
"I love to talk about nothing, it's the only thing I know anything about" -- Oscar Wilde, An Ideal Husband.
Brilliant line :)
neltar • Well spotted!
neltar brilliant screenwriting!
Iris Elba is undoubtedly one of the finest British actors , there's a great presence to him !
That almost-touch of Luther's face is a wonderful acting moment. Alice knows who is in control and it isn't Luther. Ruth Wilson's smile is scary as hell. She loves John because he's the first person to see her exactly as she is.
Timestamp?
@@qwerttzizzi 3'23"
Alice is the female version of Hannibal Lechter...and she is wonderfully dangerous.
Alice is nothing like Hannibal
@@Daemon1995_ No she's not, but it's the exact same kind of villain-bonds-with-reluctant-hero dynamic that the Joker had with Batman
@@Onigirli what
@@Onigirli ehm no.... batman hates joker , he would like to kill him but he can't ; in this case they are attracted to each other is a little bit different.
Hannibal lecter, and I also see a little bit of him in her but not completely. Hannibal is represented as the embodiment of the devil, whereas Alice is just a pure psychopath. Who found her match with Luther... And we all know how things went down
i love the way he says alice.
+Emre Karaman Okaaay! yass ikr 🙋🙋🙋
EXACTLY
I hate it lol
Yes
Ruth Wilson needs to be cast as Poison Ivy
That is a great idea.
She'll make a worthy Poison Ivey.
Protruding upper lip and all. It’s fun to mimic
Theres a few DC covers of Poison Ivy as if they were drawing her in mind.
Fantastic idea. She would be perfect for the role.
Alice is the best part of the show.
Luther van drops
she definitely wants to sample some dark MATTER 'ere AH HA HA !! but yes she adds a sly charm with her presence !! ENJOY!
Zsna u Wrong!
Alice is the only part of the show.
Luther is the best part of the show. Alice is ok
Ruth Wilson is the best. God she has to be the best evil/whatever she is character. She is amazing.
Anti-hero or anti-villain
When she says, "Did you come here for sex?" though...........the sexual tension is bursting at the seams
I think he was saying No more to himself than to Alice. Like a command
+j maxx I thought it was more of a sex-was-initially-not-my-reason-for-coming-here-but-I-am-reconsidering-my-position-now no.
"I'm coming for you."
"Not if I come for you first."
... I see what ya did there
Probably one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. Simple but brutal.
Each one of these actors is fantastic on their own. Together they are just sensational. Every time Alice popped up in this show I was so thrilled - especially when you expecting someone else.
He's a sun and she's a black hole. Doesn't a black hole remain when a star implodes?
Watching these scenes again makes me NEED to re-watch Luther
I was just thinking that as well.
+B3ansGuy Yass Lol! 💯🙋👍❤🌹💣
B3ansGuy my thoughts exactly
Same here
They cut it off Netflix. But still exist bbox and Google films
They did her character so well. Giving him every calculated inch for him to self destruct himself but he resisted (biologically and cognitively) an amazing battle of wits. She is the most dangerous villainous character created. Logic and evil in moderation. Well done. Bravo
🎉😂😂😂😂
I find the interactions between these two facinating.
I know Ruth Wilson is busy in America, but I need Alice back for just a few scenes.
TheoKabala89 She’s back for Series 5.
Alice scares that hell outta me. Your worst enemy can be your greatest ally.
keep your friends close, but your enemies closer my friend.
This is one of my favorite scenes. I love Alice's line, "Did you come here for sex...?" Love these two together!
What would she have done if he had said yes?
She sounded like a trans though 🙁
@@mist7295 good question
She looked so annoyed when he said no
@@mist7295have sex then kill him in the middle of the act
Season 1 was amazing because of the dynamic between John and Alice. Season 2 and 3 are good but it felt like they were missing a huge part of what made this show great in the first place.
The new season needs Alice...
+Andre' Cannon Did you watch episode 4 of season 3 when Alice returns? So good!
Yes I did *****! It was so great!
Alice Morgan is bae.
A bae that would gut you like a fish while you sleep, but a bae nonetheless.
Red John you are so right but I'd date her. I'm crazy like that😂
Andre' Cannon I'd date her in a heartbeat if I could. My life expectancy would diminish by about 50 years, but with a face like hers, it would be totally worth it.
These two are brilliant characters, and Ruth and Idris play them to the max. Great chemistry.
This is one of the best crime drama i have ever seen period
U spoke my mind thanks
That almost touch to his face was an amazing piece of acting.
Alice is fantastic in Luther they have a strange kind of relationship that works incredibly well, both actors play there roles extremely well it becomes and addiction to watch them play there parts. I can't wait until series 5
Gosh I love Alice. She's so amazing.
First she messes around with Stringer now she's sleeping McNulty
Chris Emanuel I can't believe I never put that together hahahaha
😂👏🏿
Is Alice Morgan Evil? Not in my view. She is not a psychopath either. She is really crazy. But there is a measure of logic to her insanity. I admire this actress. Such a perfect role in one of the most unique police drama's of my time. Luther is awesome.
Nah she’s clearly evil
I love them together. Perfect couple.
This is one of my favourite tv scenes of all time.Great actors working with great dialogue and the scene is both highly confrontational and sexually charged.
I've rewatched this scene SO many times. It's just sooo good; the actors, the writing... everything.
I love how the whole time they're trying to bait each other, they're both aware of it yet are still affected (which is only possible because funnily enough they somehow have a good understanding of each other), they know how smart the other is, they both get in some good punches and the chemistry is just A+
Luther and Alice is like Batman and the Joker
No! They're more like Batman and Catwoman.
I thought so at first, in that the Joker lives to torment Batman. But when romantic yearnings entered the scene, it became more of a Batman/Catwoman dynamic for me.
She is showing off her trophy right in his face at the start of this video. She’s delighted to be ahead of him.
Alice Morgan is the daughter that Catherine Trammel and Hannibal Lecter would be proud of.
One of my favorite scenes ever put on film for television. Expertly done. You can feel the electricity in that room... Luther is a great show but Alice Morgan elevates it to something more.
The fact that in the end Alice was always right and Luther was in denial all this time and the Alice actually loved is what makes this scene even better.
It’s the original Killing Eve Dynamic.
I remember when Luther quoted Alice's speech on black holes _ I think it was Season 2 ep 2- and i just squealed with happiness. I love these two and I can't wait to see them in S5
Please let this man play Bond. Please.
You meant a rapist, are prejudices against black "guys" not enough that you want [self-professed] "conservatives" to find another big-excuse?!? :/
Whenever any women says *"...would you like to cum in...?"* they're speaking in code(s).
+BLᐰCK LIVES MᐰTTER That's not even correct spelling format to type in subtitles, you identity-stealer. 😏*
(✦‿✧)
Whenever any man, or woman says *"...they're cumming for each other..."* they're speaking in code(s).
Luther came to try to trick Alice into saying something that would help him catch her... instead, it's Alice who gets under his skin. Luther goes to see Zoe immediately after this scene because of Alice's insight into him, even though Luther has folders full of files on her and a whole detective team working on her case -- Alice only has her mind, and at this point Luther is only a stranger to her.
Such a great show and such a great dynamic between these two
I don't even watch Luther, I'm just watching videos about Alice Morgan so that I get to see more of Ruth Wilson. The more I watch these videos, the more I'm convinced she should play the Doctor from Doctor Who. Aside from being a villain, she seems soooo Doctorish. And the Doctor would finally be ginger.
"I don't even watch Luther"
Then I would highly suggest you do :P it's bloody amazing...
Watch it then it’s amazing
"I don't even watch Luther"
Well until you do, I ain't reading shit about Doctor Who. PEACE
Love this show. See, Luther is confused by this attraction to her!
This girl doesn't blink her eyes. Very good actor !!!
The best British series ever!! Hope they keep them coming
BRING RUTH WILSON BACK!
They are not a couple but they have excellent chemistry!
I need that in my life
With any luck, somewhere along the line Ruth Wilson gets to play a Bond villain.
1:53 I love that long pause and 'Did you come here for sex?'. Why can't more women be like this! Get straight to the point!
TheFever77 lol..okaaay 💯
I don’t understand why he wasn’t there for sex???
She was toying with him
Alice is my absolute favorite anti hero.
Yes, Alice is wonderful. She did a mini series, " Mrs. Wilson" a very interesting character. I dare say she made her debut in Anna Karinina with Kera Knightly. Very young, a blond tart. No one has that pout
I can now see why Ruth was cast as mrs coulter
probably the best detective box set i've ever seen, Great casting, Great script ! .. Yeah Alice is Awesomely Villainous, but he also has probably the cutest Caravaggioesque sidekick of all time .. i was hearbroken at his demise .. surprisingly advanced production for the ostensibly parochial BBC.
I love Ruth Wilson as Alice Morgan in Luther. I wish she would come back. But unfortunately, she's caught up in the drama series The Affair. I hate seeing her on another show.
Omar Garad: you hate The Affair? Why ever so? She's brilliant; I adore the array of roles, brilliant actress!
I watched the affair and she was wonderful but I prefer her in this role of Alice Morgan I think she was STUNNING ! She is an amazing actress in every role !! She has a lot to give in television ,cinema and theater!!,
This is as intense as the dialogue scene between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter in Manhunter.
Damn those lips though wow
Is Alice.. dare I say it.. /our ducky/?
She has the same lips as Sting (yes, Sting, the musician)
And the eyes, don't forget the eyes. Almost hard to believe how a great actress can be soooo beautiful!
Dude you need to be the next Bond hands down
Now I know why Mrs. Coulter in HDM is so well acted
watched this when I was 11 and it scared me shitless but I've always been obsessed with it, now I'm 21 and found a whole new love for it once I started living in London
The intensity and fear in this scene, is something else.
omg. I heard Luther is coming back. I hope Alice is coming back...She was psycho but was loyal to Luther!
I think she returns in the new season
Best tv show ever
This was a great series
The gun was so close to him but oh so far at the same time... Brilliant
Alice is smoking 🔥,twisted, and absolutely critical to Luther.
my God I miss them so much! I wish there was at least one more season =) a movie also would be nice
You're in for a treat then.
Gets better every time!
Ruth Wilson is good at playing these types of twisted characters.
Idris Elba is made of magic 🌟
2:00 uhhhhhhh yes.
I loved Alice character, what a bad ass.
Back here after Series 5 Episode 4. Love it.
Both of them are amazing actors
Luther is DC Comics meets James Bond.
Ruth Wilson loves her Dark Matter. First in "Luther" followed by "His Dark Materials".
I just realised Alice quoted the same line John fed her about love in this scene in the final season
Wow- these 2 are such a perfect acting pair!!! 🖐🤩 and Alice is fire 🔥
John Luther > Stringer Bell (it's just my opinion please don't leave any crazy replies)
***** Well then watch luther. My profile pic is the face I made when I saw your dumbass reply. Ill repeat MY OPINION
*****
Maybe it's HIS face in the picture... ;)
Christopher Brown think it's Russell Westbrook
nah no way. Love luther but Idris lived in Baltimore for a while and killed it. Stringer bell was an amazing character thanks to Idris.
Hhhhuhgfdfvjjiiiii. Cheese.
For me, this relationship is the quintessential psychosexual relationship. It's the ultimate dangerous and degenerative sexual attraction I think, as it is dangerous for both: at any time, Luther could get Alice arrested, and for Luther, Alice can and would kill him at a moment's notice. As the seasons go on, it evolves into a respect and even friendship, but the attraction never goes away I think. it is really interesting.
As an aside, The Dark Knight Returns comic by Frank Miller tries to imply Joker and Batman have a closeted version of this, but would say that is a stretch. This is 100% what that is trying to be though
Alice stole the entire show. I only watched the scenes with her.
good stuff
I love that line... Yes THAT line, you know the one! 😉
When she says "What if I come for you first". WoW just WoW
There is something very beautiful about Alice
Guys she's back in season five last night my heart skipped a beat.
IKR. We finally have our ships back. Hopefully they end up together
the mostcreppy and awose nightmares serie I've seen un many time.
lovely!!!😎😎😎
cant wait for series 3
2:02 what would of happened if he had said yes ?
1:28 Luther's "HAH?" freaking hilarious :^D
Amazing scene! So cool.
I love how in season 2 John discusses that when he first heard black holes crush everything as evil at its most pure. When he actually was just quoting Alice 😂 ( probably didnt even know it 😂)
This show was great but without Alice it lost its greatness. It ends at season 3 for me, season 4 never happened in my reality lol...they walk from the bridge and have amazing sex and live amazing lives together travelling the world!!
I remember an actress from years ago that had those same eyes. can't remember her name but those eyes just hold you.
Love these characters.
Sherlock, Luther, & The Following. Three best shows on Tv!
Moriarty vs. Alice vs. Joe Carol.
FIGHT!
You sir, have a great taste when it comes to tv shows!
Damn Good show
Their relationship reminds me of the one With Robert Goren and Nicole Wallace from Law & Order Criminal Intent. Though Alice is way scarier than Nicole. Her eyes, the way she curls her upper lip, her unpredictable nature, heck her in general. She is a true villain.
Before Idris as 009 lets have a Luther and Alice movie.
