He didn't buy the Bowling Balls before the lunch, he bought them after. The Cold Open is a mild Flashforward into the middle of the episode.
You can tell by the outfit he is wearing so a flashforward mid episode fits best
Another cool callback to BB. Hank talked about finding 700k in a single drug bust in S1E1. We can assume that this is that incident.
@Hunter Lee I don't think Hank ever specified when he found the 700K .
@@reno9821 It was the one they were watching on TV on Walt's birthday, wasn't it?
@@stopthatwaffle9928 Maybe. But Hank had a line about how that was nothing compared to the bigger busts they did, I think this could be one of those.
This scene at Namaste was like 4 years before the starting of BB, mistake my boy
Breaking bad season 1 takes place in 2008, hank was on the news for the 700k bust, which means it was probably a recent incident because it was on the news. Better call Saul season 5 takes place in 2004
This reaction is ... acceptable.
I really don’t enjoy Nahid and Micky’s commentary. Always saying the wrong thing!
@@junboxd nah their reaction to the man fucking a horse thing was very satisfying
Ibrahim Ahmed Normies would be nothing without Nahid and Micky. All of them bring something unique to the table and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts
Really........ They should start a Howard fan club.
I think Saul turning down the perfect job offers is also a parallel to Walt rejecting the Schwartz' offer to pay for chemo treatments in the beginning of Breaking Bad. Both had offers that would have solved all their problems but they rejected them out of a sense of pride and need to prove one's self without the charity of others.
I think Jimmy bought the bowling balls after they ate lunch and it was just a classic out-of-order cold open.
Fun fact. Episode 1 of BB, Hank tells Walt that the most he ever recovered on a drug bust was $710,000.
To be clear:
Jimmy is mad at Howard for somehow finding some peace over Chuck's death, which is something he was never able to do. Hence, bowling balls. Jimmy feels like Howard's Namaste front is bull, and he feels like the job offer is out of pity and an attempt for Howard to further come to terms with himself, and he's insulted.
and Jimmy doesn't want to face the fact that he's as much as Howard responsible for Chuck's death because he started the whole thing with the insurance. That's why he needs to blame Howard.
I agree with you
Currently re-watching this episode and just finished up the lunch scene. So happy for the comment section on these videos, came searching for people’s perspective on why Jimmy took insult to Howard’s offer
Thank you! I was confused as to why Jimmy kept giving Howard shit.
I didn't read the Gus thing as him needing an alibi, I read it as him feeling like he's losing control and needs to have control over something so he puts that on Lyle
I read it as an alibi but one which was very tense and trying for Gus. He needed someone to be there to account for his location. (Anyway it doesn't really matter it's all good, we'll see! Hope y'all having a good day n' sheeeeeeet)
Jimmy/Saul bought the bowling balls after lunch, it was a time jump. He is resentful that Howard has found peace and he hasn’t.
Yeah. And I think it was the Namast3 license plate that sent him over the edge.
Thanks for the explanation; I couldn't figure out what motivated Saul to do that. Your explanation makes sense.
I feel like you guys still don't get Jimmy. If he worked at HHM he'd be right back on the Davis and Main train. Not saying that Howard is a bad guy at all, and Jimmy is certainly wrong for harassing him, but Howard clearly does not understand how much his words upset him.
Daniel Midkiff ar this point it's just gonna happen every episode no matter what. They going down the same route chuck did lmao. Like yeah any normal person would take the job or at least decline politely but jimmy specifically has ties to Howard and HHM and because of what happened with his brother it makes sense why he wouldn't want it even if he was a dick about it. It's not like I expect them to like jimmys actions cause they are fucked but they don't even understand why he does it.
Yeah, at this point I really don't care how they feel about Jimmy. I got a kick out of watching their reaction after they found out who's car Jimmy vandalized. Go Jimmy!!
They don't get jimmy at all.. they watch it black and white.. good and bad.. its much more complex than that
Bob Odenkirk said in some intervew i saw that when Jimmy meets Howard he sees Chuck. And his judgement. Howard was kinda of dick to Jimmy because of Chuck. And at the same time Howard was put in between because of Chuck and even if he wanted to hire him.. he couldnt. I think he cant get over it just as Howard did. For Jimmy it is personal and it hurts. For Howard its just business. No way would Jimmy want the job. Its brings back all the frustration and the fact that Howard didnt want to hire him. And Chuck's judgement about him not being a real lawyer and "slippin Jimmy". Howard is past all the bulshit because for him its all business. For Chuck and Jimmy it is personal. They cant let go off each other. Even after Jimmy stopped taking care of Chuck back in season 1. Howard is sincere but he doesnt understand the full scope of the situation.
Mike was clearly exhibiting self-destructive behavior after what happened with Werner and Gus knew it. He had eyes on dude from the moment the deed was done to make sure he was okay because he has that much respect for Mike.
I never realized it until now: when Jimmy says "cleansing moment of clarity" to Howard, that's a VERY clever callback. In the first episode of the series, Jimmy quotes the "YOU HAVE MEDDLED WITH THE PRIMAL FORCES OF NATURE, MR. BEALE" speech from Network in front of Howard. "Cleansing moment of clarity" is also a quote from Network, addressed by Howard Beale. So Jimmy is similarly calling Howard "Mr. Beale", a crazy person, through popular reference. Fuckin brilliant.
Makes you wonder how they managed to plan everything so perfectly
28:04 when you think about it, in breaking bad, gus has never taken mike with him when he goes to visit hector in that nursing home. Maybe that's the reason, because hector already knows who mike is and may send someone to threaten his granddaughter if anyone finds out that mike is working for Gus.
11:10 Uh...Suraj? You okay, man?
17:38 Seriously, you're scarin' me, man.
Just dropping in a year later to be like.... "yeeeeeeah. Yep. Yeppperooni. WTF."
Saul buying the bowling balls was a flash forward.
The chase scene interspersed with Lyle cleaning the grills is fucking brilliant.
The way Howard treated Kim sending her to doc review twice, and the fact that Howard pushed Chuck out of HHM explains why Jimmy went after Howard.
Pretty sure no one got credit for catching Gus, because Gus never got caught. Hank only had suspicions. They only learned for a fact about Gus' criminal activities because Walt blew up Gus and his lab.
I came for the LOST reference and wasn't disappointed.
Sees yellow tint "They're in Mexico?"
You guys were right the first time. Gus was just very stressed. He didn't need an alibi. I don't get why you all went "ohhh" and agreed to that. lol And no the bowling balls weren't pre meditated before it was shown out of order. Vince Gilligan does has plenty of openings like that.
15:25 I love how Nahid is always the one who actually pays attention to the show
Yea seems like being a ‘normie’ means being a little slow sometimes 😂
New viewer, but I'm loving the reaction so far. It's also been good to get a catch up on the show myself.
Don't get too put down if people are complaining about you guys not picking things up, usually they've rewatched the show 5 times and read a lot of reddit. I didn't pick up half the stuff you guys are on my first viewing.
Pretty awesome review. I think he brought the bowling balls after his lunch with Howard. The writers on this show are so detailed and really like to keep you guessing. Can't wait for your guys to see WTH happens it's awesome..and everything gets a nod. All of you be safe😷👍
I don't understand the "Gus needed an Alibi" thing. What would he need an alibi for?
Micky 2nd attempt at namastay was perfect
if howard cared or weighed on chuck's opinion, there would never be that offer, HHM it's chuck's legacy and he didn't want jimmy in that place while he was alive
The pawn shop scene at the beginning was out of order. He didnt do that until after lunch
8:56 And he's not throwing away his SHOT
it took me 11 months to understand this
With the legal case. Saul Goodman is the attorney. They never need to see Jimmy.
Suraj really likes that "young scrappy and hungry" line lol.
I had been watching it and stupidly said it like 5 times lol
15:33 I haven’t been able to figure out what there was so much attention on that scene for so long, brilliant
17:35 suraj WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? 💀😂😂
I know, the show is nudging you to see Howard in a more sympathetic light, and he certainly doesn't deserve the shit that Jimmy seems determined to shovel at him, but you shouldn't lose sight of the fact that Howard isn't perfect: He threw Kim into the cornfield and when Jimmy's antics at Davis & Main "reflected poorly" on Kim for pushing them to take him, AND he kept her there even when she brought them the Mesa Verde account. He wasn't acting on the behest of Chuck there, in fact it was actually Chuck who recognized Howard was being overly harsh on her and ultimately convinced him to end Kim's exile. So Jimmy does have some reason to be resentful on her behalf.
did you guys know X-files and Breaking bad have lot's of little easter eggs since Vince Gilligan also worked on a lot of X-files episodes? the new X-files animated series is gonna base from Albuquerque. breakingbad.fandom.com/wiki/References_to_The_X-Files
I think Jiimmy feels that Howard is making peace with everything that's happened and everything's he's done buy feels that karma hasn't hit Howard for the way he treated him and Kim. He's clearly got some anger/resentment. towards Howard. I think Howard is genuine and was just following Chucks orders/advise out of respect and appreciation to Chuck regarding Jimmy. And then you have Mike punishing himself because he feels guilty about doing Gus' dirty work, lashing out at his granddaughter and not being able to save his son. It was good seeing Hank and Gomez and I would watch a buddy cop show with them, I'm ready for another spin off show.
*Common sense:* You guys need me this time?
*The Normies:* Nah, we good.
Amazing comment 😂
I can’t help it! I cannot wait for you guys to get to the last few episodes of this season! For some reason, I guess specifically the 2nd and 3rd seasons, I haven’t gotten into watching reactions of all the episodes of Better Call Saul like I did and do with Breaking Bad (which is funny because I still can’t decide whether I think Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul is the greater achievement).
No, that court switcheroo is not allowed.
2 more weeks and then it's literally all bangers
I love how hard you guys defend Howard. I'm not going to get into arguing about it other than to say he's as clueless as he's always been. He doesn't understand Saul any better than he understood Jimmy. He also doesn't know when to let shit go. If he really understood why Jimmy changed his name he wouldn't have made him that job offer. Also, that cold open took place after the lunch between Saul and Howard. It was the job offer that pissed Saul off. He didn't care about Howard before that.
It's not a conflict of interest for lawyers who are dating to represent opposing clients. Kim should probably let her client know about it but there's no rule against it.
I mean, Howard was never a friend to Jimmy or Kim, all his ties to them are professional ties, yes, he is totally clueless to Jimmy's feelings, but he's not offering friendship, he's offering a job
@@TheGabrielryu Howard is the character who comes most close to be Jimmy's friend after the death of Marco. He always liked Jimmy more than Chuck.
Been living in Albuquerque 8 years. All I can say... park in the garage at night. Abqs got highest rate of car theft in country
the cold open obviously is a flash forward. not like thats the first time theyve done that as well
Sounds like you'd enjoy this show more if it was called better call chuck or howard
I like your reaction and reflection ✌️
So no one's gonna talk about this being in The 100's playlist?
He didn't buy the balls before lunch, they just showed the scene before everything. You know, like this show and BB does ?
Soo. Yall got this categorized under “the 100 reactions” playlist... just letting u kno..
Oops! Wrong playlist, guys. This has been added to The 100's, not BCS's.
Good call Nahid (spelling?) on the Ala-bi. I am often somewhat critical of Nahid's reactions but that observation was solid.
17:36 wtf man 🤣🤣🤣
17:37 I'm uncomfortable lmaooooooo
Nahid you are a space cadet.
even Matlock pulled such things off
howard offered the job to pity jimmy, also trying to show jimmy that who is the 'bigger man'. also also, Howard was one of the reason chuck killed himself and somehow he had moved on before jimmy. those are reasons why those things keep happen to howard.
Rana: waaaah waaaah waaaah wah
i feel sorry for howard? maybe but is he really the nicest guy? no fucking way the dude fucked jimmy all the way with chuck it doesn’t matter if it was his plans or not he fucking did it and that’s it, it seems like some ppl need to give the show a rewatch to understand the real motivation for jimmy’s actions against howard!
I’ll never understand Suraj’s hate on Gus. He’s one of the best villains in TV history.
Stop simping for Howard
They should have shown the scene in the series where gus' man killed them all with an Automatic Weapon or shit after they beat mike. Would have been great!
what channel has good better call Saul analysis
11:09 WTF
But Nahid..... why would he need an Alibi?
Gus needs an alibi in case the DEA somehow are able to connect those drops back to him. That’s why he makes Lyle continue cleaning so Lyle can testify that he was in the restaurant with Gus at the time the men were arrested.
I tried computer science for 5 years. Kept failing and getting academic probation. Finally went into English Lit. Enjoyed it. Finished it. Now I work for a medical device manufacturer mostly doing paperwork for inventory.
These are painful to watch....
"I would love for Howard to be my boss"
okay now things are just getting pathetic
I wish y'all were my friends...
Do they read comments?
Lol I def do.... we finished the series... I swear i understand it lol.
Nahid Ayy, Love your reaction to this series the most Nahid 💯
Sachin Bhandari thank fam it is my fav love action iv reacted to. Actually my second fave the first is Breaking Bad.
So Rana is Arab and the guys are all Indian?
Sup
No.
I wonder which normie would be best to host SNL, lol.
Y'all have the opposite reaction of me when I watch this show. Maybe y'all can watch a show about Howard if you love him so much.
Suraj 🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️
