    scholes was the guy that i saw being the most spot on on this topic. its not so much about the fact that ronaldo wasnt playing, it was the fact that ten hag had said earlier that he didnt want to disrespect ronaldo by putting him in when they were losing 4-0, but then decided that throwing him in in garbage time wasnt disrespectful

    Absolutely spot on, everyone wants Ronaldo to be the average player… he’s not! And if I want to wreck the career of a legend and imply that he’s no use anymore, the way he’s been treated is exactly how I would. Don’t bring him into an important match even while getting whooped 6 goals but bring him on to play 2 minutes in an already won game. Kill any confidence he or anyone else have left in him and Ronaldo resists it and I ain’t mad at that at all.

      The point is 37 year old Ronaldo is better than every other attacker in that team. He was top goal scorer for us last season in one of his worst seasons ever. Like he proved last season and today, he can still score goals so ofcourse he's gonna be angry at being asked to come on in with 2 minutes left in a dead game while the likes of Elanga are getting more game time.

We saw Man Utd do the same under Fergie with the mobile front 3 of Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo. Berbatov when he was brought in became the false 9 for runners to play off and around. The anomaly was Van Persie but he had an amazing previous season and still mobile enough for the new fluid front 3 Fergie wanted.
      Ruud asked to be sold after being dropped at cup final as he knew he was not part of Man Utd new system.

    I don't think Ronaldo would've even dared to refuse to play if SAF was manager. Fergie was ruthless with players tho when they overstepped the mark or thought they were getting too big for their boots. Keane, Beckham, Heinze, Van Nistelrooy etc etc. Scholes was extremely lucky that Fergie didn't banish him altogether. No player should ever refuse to play for their club no matter who they are
