As a kid, many many years ago, my brother and I hated that this would always be the meal on Monday after our Sunday roast. As we got older we grew to love it, hearty U.K. fare, in addition to potato and carrot there would always be dark green cabbage, or maybe Brussels sprouts. Cooked properly it is delicious. Don't forget to add lots of white pepper.

It's American cousin is hash, which some small restaurant chefs may make for themselves and their family from unused stuff,so I have heard. You can also make hash itself.Basically canned corned beef, boiled potatoes peeled and chopped up and chopped onions all fried til browned, any leftovers can be added..My dad added sliced hard boiled eggs on top.My mom made Bubble and Squeak from leftover ham and cabbage.Leftovers are not wasted by most people, they are microwaved and eaten the next day.Ham bones left over are used to flavor boiled beans or greens like collards.Bones from a roast chicken or turkey are used for soup stock.A local BBQ place in Texas made delicious pinto beans with what I think were unused pieces of their BBQ beef,it tasted different than the typical pork flavored beans.

Another wonderful upload. Thanks team. Bubble & Squeak is a really tasty dish. In my own Scotland, we have Stovies - made from leftover potatoes, onions and meat, and anything else lying around. It's delicious too.
03:21 That hit hard, and very well observed Mr Chaudhary. While there are some famous 'leftover' dishes here in the west (mainly from years gone by, when times were hard), unfortunately there is, today, a shocking amount of food waste, and absolutely 100%, that is a crime. I truly hope we'll get to a properly joined up world in the future.

My Amish relatives would take leftover potatos, sausage, and onions, and stuff them into a cow's stomach to roast them. Kind of like a giant sausage with a more meaty casing. It was initially made of leftovers, but we like it so much we occasionally make it from fresh ingredients.

Mr.Chaudhary, since you requested a recipe to use leftover food, here are my favorites.
I am in Texas and our food has a lot of Mexican influence, so I make quesadillas with leftovers.
Any leftover meat or smashed beans, add some cheese and put between 2 tortillas. Heat on a grill or in a pan until cheese is melted, and serve with lettuce, tomato, salsa and guacamole.
I make rice pudding with leftover rice.
Leftover chicken and vegetables can be made into a delicious soup.
Leftover corn or bell pepper (you call them capsicum) can be turned into a delicious cornbread.
Let me know if you’d like more leftover recipes!

Right? I've been served "fresh soup" in restaurants; i.e., they boil the veggies and meat in the broth and serve it immediately. Uh, no......we've always stewed it for a long time and served it later; after it has married it's flavors. The time makes a difference in taste, certainly! (I do like Pho, but the BROTH is long simmered, if not the soup ingredients.)

Yes, it sounds funny in English as well! But it is very popular! Leftovers from one meal are made into another; one days roast is the next day's soup! Or the meat/vegetables can be added to rice to make stir fry. Left over mashed potatos are made into potato pancakes or shepherd's pie. (a stew baked with a crust of seasoned mashed potatos)

My mum used to make the best Bubble and Squeak. But then I'm biased of course!! My favourite growing up. We were poor, so my mum bought a joint of meat and lots of potatoes and veg at the weekend, and we'd have a roast on Sun, then she'd make the leftovers last half the week!! Hope you enjoy it. 🇬🇧😋😃

Watching them try out English words for the first time can be quite interesting, as it is here. Those who speak English regularly have just as much fun trying to say some of their words as they do ours!
Turkey Tetrazzini is a great leftover from a Turkey Dinner. Leftover Chili Stuffed Peppers make a great meal out of leftover Chili.

Some people won't eat leftovers. I keep a head of cabbage in my fridge. I'll toss that in with any leftovers and add something like soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce for another meal. Many times I will make extra just to have the leftovers. 😁😁

Gentlemen, unfortunately we westerners still waste far too much food. But there are those of us also trying to save and reuse and extend the use of our food. I think things are better than they used to be as far as waste but we still have a long way to go. Bless you guys.

It does originate from using leftovers that is true, but you can also buy them pre-made frozen in a supermarket. I'm not saying that's the most common way but it is popular even if you don't cook a roast, I like them with a full fried breakfast.

Similar to how I grew up - the leftovers from last night's dinner were chopped up into a "hash" with eggs on top for breakfast.
Which reminds me, they should try Corned Beef Hash with eggs! (Make sure it is fried until crispy!)

Something similar to the bubble and squeak is bangers and mash as there were meat shortages in the first world war they were added with water and other ingredients which would make the sausage aka bangers explode

My mother used to prepare bubble and squeak every Monday when I was a child. Can't remember ever having a fried egg on it, but it was always a delicious treat. Few people wasted food in those days as not many had the money to waste. She used to shop daily for fresh food as we had no fridge or freezer and you would eat what was prepared, there was no alternative except to go hungry. In fairness, she's a good cook and all of her dishes were (and still are) delicious. We had little money, but I always ate well.

Traditional bubble and steak was mashed potatoes and cabbage. Now it can include sausage and a fried egg. The idea was to make a “scramble” from Sunday dinner leftovers to serve on Monday.
