- Did you know that this Vekoma SLC (Suspended Looping Coaster) originally operated at Ratanga Junction in Cape Town, South Africa from 1998 to 2018 before it opened here in 2022? Not only has the track been refurbished, but it's also got the new redesigned trains from Vekoma.
Lost Island Theme Park is located in Waterloo, Iowa.

I heard this park had a rough first season, and I really hope its second season is going better. Between the cool coasters, the high quality dark ride that already won a golden ticket award, and the themed lands based around the classic elements this place looks great. I hope it continues to grow and become a fantastic place over time.
I just don't get what they expected when they built this park in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

As someone who studied logistics in college, this is a brilliant ride and get for Lost Island, not only is it cheaper to purchase a used ride but it more than likely saved them time in designing among other hidden costs. Not to mention it preserves the ride as well which saves on resources among other things!
The vecoma SLC coaster is a cheap coaster coz it's an awful ride experience. And as the manufacturer isn't making this model anymore parts are going to become harder and more expensive to find. In the long term costing the parks more money. It's the same with wood coasters. Cheap to build but expensive to maintain.
@@Thesmokercoaster considering the new trains and the refurb im sure this ride isnt as bad as the others, idk if its on the level of great nor'easter but i doubt they would let it be unbearably rough for a new park

If you even did 2 minutes of research on the ride model youd know that this isn’t something that should be preserved, working on these or even just riding them is a nightmare for everyone involved.
They literally had to pay more than they expected to in order to refurbish it in an attempt to make it more appealing 💀

This coaster was from South Africa. The theme park closed down there.
It might be because ive only ridden a coaster once and am not used to them but for *me* it was a bit shaky, it was extremely fun though (albiet i could hardly move my body, anxiety stuff most likely), but i dont think coasters are for me- it was really fun though, the drop tower was real fun too, ive lived here my entire life and its awesome to see Lost Island expand to an amusement park as well
Dw its not just you! My friend went on it and does NOT want to go on it again, way too shakey, bumpy and painful. Even the operators mentioned is was a rough ride
This one tends to have issues over and over, not sure what it was but whenever it there they are always fixing something on this one. I’m here a lot since I live in the same city.

@@ATalkingBadger Vekoma SLCs are known for being some of the roughest coasters on earth, and some cameras make some POVs look smoother than the coaster actually is... so you can't always judge the smoothness of a coaster by its videos.
@@ATalkingBadgerthey use stabilization in their footage to make it appear smoother. I’ve heard this one has a really bad pothole early in the ride.
What I was thinking. My first Vekoma ride was the Ninja at SF over Georgia. Still paying for that one lol.
This one is extremely rough during the sea serpent roll, but the rest of the ride isn't too bad.
What I would imagine a prison theme park to look like, except this park has more weeds.
