fantastic video! shoutouts to you again for working so hard on that setup, it was amazing around this time seeing everyone come together and fix all these toxic strats, and prove that the game doesn't always need to get more difficult to be faster
I remember on my first run with stasis skip, a few of the community members were telling me that I had unlimited ammo. I didn't believe them and thought I was being pranked lmao.
META in this context is actually an acronym for Most Effective Tactic Available. I didn't know this until like a month ago.

@@GammaJK yeah, for at least decades meta refers to 'data about data'... Loooong before gaming used the term. And community discussion about a game is definitely meta data, hence the use of the term originally

I always thought it meant something about what came "after," like a meta strategy always came after the normal strategies/playing of the game

DS2 is one of my favorite games of all time, obviously my favorite in the series. I've never seen a boring run... probably watched some of your runs haha... I tend to gravitate towards no commentary, 100% or all bosses runs when watching speedruns though. it's what I enjoy the most, seeing as much of the game as possible. any% runs can be fun if you want to see a game broken to all hell. really enjoying your videos! thanks.

As a speedrunner, theres nothing I hate more than "if its faster we have to do it." I want to have fun first and foremost. Then go quick.
Also unskippable scenes aren't a problem. Ever.
Yeah like modifying this game to avoid an unskippable cutscene that takes everyone the same amount of time anyway, just to have a lower number at the end. Rather than having a bit of patience lol.

Hey waifu. I have a bit of a problem on re4. The village skip doesn't work for me. I throw the first grenade properly but for some reason,there's never enough enemies for the 2nd grenade (btw I play on ps4 and professional difficulty)
That's why i generally despise glitches in speed runs. Most of them flat out just take the fun away from the game or you end up not playing the game, just exploiting it.

A bit stupid of a question, but why not allow skipping a whole introductory level because of this in some games so speedrunners could effectively do the rest of the game and compete? Would save time having to hack the game to skip these...
You definetely could! But we would rather find a better long term solution that still allows us to play the whole game, for most people they just want to run the whole game and if you have to do something as extreme as skip the whole first level then why not just find another game to run, it’s really just personal preference but we didn’t feel like that was a good solution

Don't get me wrong I think putting the effort is beneficial most of the time and I agree with you on your point.
Say theoretically that there would be a game which has a long intro sequence that plays exactly the same. I'd say better to skip it than having to play the part for no reason at all countless times.. If we are talking wanting to speedrun it badly.

RE3 speedrun when?
The r8 was also such a standoutly broken gun it could out shoot an awp 8/10 times for its left click it was perfectly accurate for every single shot while the fanfare was less accurate but still basicly a pocket shotgun that could 1 head or two body making two panicked right clicks kill faster than anything in the game if you were in shotgun distance, sadly the r8 is now actually useless it needs a small buff to compete with the deeg

Specially on hardcore mode it was intense you only get 3 saves in the game. I beat hardcore first then zealot to get my Platinum 🏆

Games should be patched to the point where there are no cheaty or at all glitches.
we just downpatch anyways so its not like this would matter at all or change anything

And I also know there are diffferent categories such as glitchless, but I feel like glitching is lame and you should speedrun the game as it was intended by the devs. I know I'm probably wrong here, but that's just my humble opinion.

Have fun trying to look for every single glitch in a game. It's nearly impossible to achieve this, and every patch could possibly bring more problems. Besides, if the glitches wouldn't affect casual players, why patch them anyways?
