Hi, welcome to Speak Japanese Naturally!
    I'm Fumi.
I'm walking around Yoyogi Park in Shibuya in Tokyo on November 26th.
The autumn leaves are still beautiful.
They say you can get the widest view of the sky in Tokyo in Yoyogi Park.
And the phrase "the widest view of the sky in Tokyo" reminded me of a poem,
あどけない空の話 An innocent story of the sky written by Kotaro Takamura(1883-1956)
    Here's the whole poem
    あどけない話
    Innocent story
    智恵子は東京に空がないといふ
Chieko says there’s no sky in Tokyo
    ほんとの空が見たいといふ。
She says she wants to see the real sky
    私は驚いて空を見る。
Which made me look up at the sky in surprise
    桜若葉の間に在るのは、
What I can see between young sakura leaves is
    切つても切れない むかしなじみのきれいな空だ。
The beautiful sky that I have been familiar with for a long time
    どんよりけむる地平のぼかしは
The foggy horizon is unclear with
    うすもも色の朝のしめりだ。
    Pale pink moist morning
    智恵子は遠くを見ながら言ふ。
Chieko looks far away and says
    阿多多羅山(あたたらやま)の山の上に
    Above the Atatara mountain
    毎日出てゐる青い空が
The blue sky you see every day is
    智恵子のほんとの空だといふ。
    Her real sky, she says
    あどけない空の話である
It is an innocent story of the sky
    高村光太郎 1928年
    Kotaro Takamura, 1928
    ----
    「言う」=「言う」
    「ゐる」=「いる」
These parts are written in an old Japanese style
I hope you'll enjoy this video.
    Thank you for visiting.
    Fumi

I feel like this is the content we prefer to learn with.
just talk & chill about real things.
it's overloaded with long talks about how to use grammar & blabla otherwise, but having just this is way better once you are a bit beyond "N5"
    context + subtitles = brilliant

Thank you for including the poem! I think reading poetry in the original is the ultimate reward of learning a new language so I was very happy to hear a native speaker reading and explaining a Japanese poem to me. A magical point in this video for me. I'll study harder.

A nice stroll with focus on the language and everyday things. You speak with such a lovely, calm and articulate voice. And the talking speed was good and varied, so I get to practice listening even at the harder faster bits.
Also loved that you put in some kanji facts! I already kind of knew the kanji for bird but it's been giving me a hard time. I wasn't aware of why it looked like that and now I'll never forget it, nor the kanji for crow (which was completely new to me). I'm looking forward to immerse myself more with your videos!

Memories again. Yoyogi Park. I did not often go there even though I worked in Shibuya for some time but I did go once and saw a little bit of the rockabillies there. So interesting. But the sound of the cawing crow in Japan is what I remember so much while in Japan. Actually, my favorite sound! These birds are so intelligent. Anyway, thank you for the kanji derivation distinguishing bird vs crow. I will remember that.
Lastly, and speaking of parks, my favorite park was between Tamagawa and Denenchofu stations when I lived in that area. I first lived in Ogikubo, though, so some of your listeners might be interested in the ramen shops there! Many foreigners love ramen as I am sure you know so that might be interesting for a video.

This is GREAT! More please. My father´s second wife is Japanese. Their son, my brother, is therefore half Japanese and half Dutch. I now wish I had asked her to teach me Japanese. It´s a great culture. We have much to learn from each other. Peace be upon you.

Wow, I like the video as there is also furigana included and arigathanks fumi-chan! but I hope the english sub would be on the top of the screen so I could understand more on listening and reading in japanese without looking near to the english sub because english and japanese are totally different in grammar structure. Anyways I really love your videos they helped me a lot!

And thank you for the suggestion. I'll think about that, but I feel like someone said they wanted English subtitles to be close to Japanese ...🤔
For me, when I read Korean and Japanese subtitles together, I like them to be lined together, so ...

      @中国-t3k Год назад

@@SpeakJapaneseNaturally well that's because japanese and korean may share the same sentence structure (Subject-Object-Verb), also have a politeness form, also often omit pronouns that english doesnt have.

I know very little about the Japanese language although I can read Kanji but with the Cantonese pronunciation. I love Japan although I only had chance to visit twice and wish I had visited more often. When I learned to speak Cantonese I learnt in an informal way by just listening like this. Whether I actually decide to concentrate on learning Japanese or not (it's definitely my first choice if I did decide to learn another language), I just find it very pleasant listening to your voice and hope if I listen to a few more videos I might begin to pick up some simple words and phrases. Also really appreciate the way you include the Japanese and English subtitles as the written language is just as important as the spoken language and you should never try to learn one without the other.
