He Was The NEXT GREAT OKLAHOMA QB (What Happened to Nick Evers?)

  • A few years ago, Nick Evers was seen as the next great Oklahoma QB after he had an insane blow up late in high school. There was nothing he could not do as a QB and many figured he was going to be next up in the Oklahoma QB guru system. Sadly, not only did his time at Oklahoma not work out, but he also did not work out at Wisconsin and is now at Uconn. So how did he go from next elite QB to through 2 schools and at a lower level? Today, we are going to tell the Nick Evers story, enjoy!

    The transfer portal is what happened to a lot of these young QB's. They come into a program as the potential #1 guy (or the chance to compete for that spot) and then a 4-yr player decides to be a super senior at these same colleges and it's become a never-ending loop.

    Liked the vid BUT you seriously played down how devastating it was for OUs program when Lincoln Riley left and took Caleb Williams along with a whole host of other players and recruits. Nick committed to OU during this really tumultuous time and he was a breath of fresh air. We'd been kicked hard by Riley and Williams and Nick was seen by many as a very welcome player.
    Jeff Lebby made some really boneheaded calls involving players, plays and more. BUT he was the OC and therefore what he said ruled the day. It's unfortunate as I think Nick just didn't mesh well with Lebby and yeah, may have struggled to get the play book down. Unfortunately, that's on Nick.
    I was surprised to not see him playing at W and so this vid brings a lot of things into sharper relief. Nick is simply struggling at the D1 level.
    I'm really pulling for this kid because he stepped up and committed to OU when we were reeling and I'll be forever grateful to him for doing that. I wish it had worked out for him at OU or W but now I look forward to hearing more about him and truly wish him all the best.

    Nick was a victim of better players ahead of him. How do you compete? You are basically waiting for an injury to shine. Every QB carousel has that moment to step up if you don’t burn yourself in the portal first. Nick made a wrong turn.

    • @jontnoneya3404
      @jontnoneya3404 Месяц назад

      Yeah the carousel was in play but something is seriously off when you're behind Davis Beville, who sucked so much ass they moved him to TE and used Braden Willis as QB instead of Nick or Davis as QB. I mean something's seriously wrong there and I'm not entire sure what was wrong in all this was Jeff Lebby. He continually made boneheaded decisions that cost us games and players. I'm so glad his ass is gone now! Wish Nick all the best and I hope he shuts up the haters at UCONN and can get on with a better program next szn.

    Stop this false narrative. He was not the next great qb at OU. At best he was a stop gap. Coach BV allowed Coach Lebby (the OC at the time) to recruit him because they didn't have a high school qb in there recruiting class. They had just got Dillion Gabrielle to flip from UCLA and need a qb to groom for the future. The tell tale sign that Nick wasn't working out was when he didn't get any playing time in the OU/ Texas debacle, a game DG didn't play in and the Sooners lost 49-0. From there the hand writing was on the wall. And after Jackson Arnold committed to OU, Nick's days were numbered. So stop it with this false news.

      Nate Hyble had a great career at Oklahoma. After winning the job as a junior over Jason White, he lost the job to Jason a few games into the season. He would replace Jason after Jason had a season ending injury against Nebraska that year. Nate would lead the Sooners to a great season and OUs first ever Cotton Bowl appearance and win over Arkansas. The following year Jason White would win the job during training camp and play well in the early part of the season which had a big win over Alabama in Norman. But once again White would suffer a season ending injury against Nebraska. Nate would come off the bench again and this time help OU beat Nebraska in Norman. That team would go on to win the BIG 12 and become the first OU team to play in the Rose Bowl. A win over Washington State. That Sooners team was way better than the team that won the title that year Ohio State. But a late season lost at Texas A&M cost them a chance to play Miami in the championship game. I don't remember what happen to Tommy, but Keith Nichol after losing the qb battle to Sam Bradford Nichol transfer back to the school he had originally committed to before flipping to OU, Michigan State. But once again he found himself in a qb battle this time with Kirk Cousins. He would make the switch to wr and have a great career as a Spartan. He even made one of the most memorable catches is MSU history in a win over... I can...Wisconsin.
