Episode 128
Like many games from the 80's and 90's, Snow Brothers started out as an arcade game, where it was called Snow Bros. It was part of a growing trend in arcades to make games that couples could play together.
Much like Bubble Bobble, you'll capture enemies, but this time you'll use snow instead of bubbles. With an enemy completely encased in snow, you can roll it at other enemies for a devastating effect!
So how did this game get from the Arcade to the NES, what changes had to be made, and why is this game so expensive to buy on eBay? In today's episode we'll find out, and then we'll dive deep into the gameplay where we'll learn:
* The best way to complete ALL 50 Floors!
* How to find both HIDDEN WARP ZONES!
* Secret techniques for ONE-SHOT CLEARS!
* Where to find HIDDEN ITEMS!
* How to get BOTH ENDINGS - The normal one, and the Special one!
* The SECRET CODE to unlock a SPECIAL MODE!
* The best way to defeat EVERY BOSS, even the Stone Bubble Heads... AND MORE!
Thanks for watching!

This is such a nostalgic game for me.
Me and my sister used it play it a lot and we both finished it individually but never together 😂
But now, after returning to it over a decade later, we were finally able to do it a few weeks ago! So yay!
I’ve been waiting for this one! I was born in 82 so I NES was life for us growing up in a small town since we didn’t have an actual arcade (just some scattered at different places).. This was one of those classic arcade style games that translated great to a home system. Keep up the good work for us 40+ year olds who want to re live our childhood lol 👍
43:15 The straight-faced reading of Spin Doctors lyrics made me howl with laughter. Bravo.
Nice to see a more obscure game done instead of the usual super well known games. I hope this video does really well!
Honestly, I think I enjoy watching guides on games I've never heard of more than games I've played.
I remember this game vividly. Had no idea it was considered rare but given the time of its release in late '91, most games in this time period command higher prices.
I can remember being 7 years old picking this up at Blockbuster with my friend Brad in 1992. We stayed up for days playing this trying to beat it. Great memory.
Love hearing stories like this!
RIP Brad
Good times good times
Man Blockbuster and home made popcorn was like Christmas in the late 80’s early 90’s 👍
your jokes are underrated. I still think about the "single moms at the pizza hut" line, and the line "Sypha looks like she just stepped out of the shower at the DoubleTree" 🤣😂
I love this game. My brother and I used to rent this game all the time.
I used to rent this from my local video store in the early 90s all the time! Never made to far! Haven’t seen it since!
Wow. My brother and I played the heck out of this when we were young, but we never knew about the warps, the time attack mode, or the true ending. Really enjoyed this!
Never played the NES version, but spent plenty of time on the arcade and GB versions. Such a good game.
I used to play this with my dad till past my bed time, such memories
Im never this early,
I watch the old videos constantly
Been playing this since I was a kid, I still play it all the time. It’s one of my favorite games ever.
Happy New Year man! Heres to another year of beating games with the best retro game guide channel on RUclips!
i knew this was a rare gem haha
haven't seen this again since '95.
we used to play this with my siblings and friends in the neighborhood.
I remember renting this game back in the day and playing the game with my sister when we were young, totally forgot what this game was called!!!
I rented this game at my local grocery store way back. I'd never guess it would go for such high prices these days. Fun game!
Love your channel man. I find myself eagerly waiting for new videos. Keep up the great work.
Happy new year you can beat video games! Thank you for a an amazing 2023 year. I’m looking forward to 2024 and see what games you play!
That was an unexpected New Year gifts! Snow Bros has always been one of my favorite games; I have so much fond memories of it... I first played it on an arcade when I was a kid, during winter vacations.
Thanks for making this video. The NES version doesn't look as cool as the arcade version, but it has a lot of what makes it a great game.
Happy new year UCBV! Great upload that strikes hard in nostalgia for me.
A good friend mentioned your videos last night and...consider me your newest fan! :) I just love the way you present these games and strategies and it's really impressive stuff! And I LOVE this particular choice too! I rented Snow Brothers as a kid time and time again and it's so nostalgic and fun! I literally stumbled into the good ending one night when I had a magical run and didn't have to continue too. What a wonderful surprise that was! Even with my knowledge of the game though, your video showed me a time attack that I NEVER knew about! Incredible! Thanks for sharing and for choosing such a great little hidden gem on the NES. Loved it!
There's something you missed about the Sega version - it has 20 additional levels that come immediately following the normal final boss, and they come with a bit of a twist :3
Great video as always, and never heard of this title.
When you get the green potion, it looks like Terrance and Phillip 😂 💨
Happy new years bro. Thanks for starting the year with another banger.
You sneaky fella, you. Thought we wouldn't get a video this week and you drop it outta nowhere.
Thanks for the new year's gift, and hope you have a Happy New Year yourself.
So happy you did this one. ❤ the arcade port is a joy to play.
Pocky And Rocky on SNES was a really fun game I used to play growing up, although it got challenging and I never got terribly far. Would be great to see a video on that!!
Yay 🙌 great start to a new year! Thanks for all your work!
Hey, @UCBVG, just wanted to wish you an awesome New Year ahead! Your classic video game walkthroughs have been a lifesaver for a gaming enthusiast like me. The way you dive into the game's history while making it accessible for all skill levels is just incredible. Can't wait to see what gaming adventures you'll take us on this year! Keep up the fantastic work, and here's to more epic walkthroughs and fun discoveries in the gaming world. Cheers to a fantastic year ahead!
Yes there are so many games I never would’ve finished without UCBVG’s incredible guides and even more I never would’ve heard of without them.
Completely agree! There are also many games I had dismissed as probably not worth my time only to pick them up again now that UCBVG demonstrated how much fun they really are@@dricoplayspokemon
I have this game but never really had played it growing up, it's music reminds me of Kung Fu Heroes, another NES game, especially the slot music. It's a game I've hoped UCBVG would eventually cover as it's fairly difficult(so far as I remember) with lots of hidden secret items, warps and branching levels.
It definitely sounds like Kung Fu Heroes. Good ear.
One of my favorite casual co-op games! I love the 8-bit sound of the NES version. On the Genesis version, you can mash like a maniac by using your pointer and ring finger on the A and C buttons and alternating as fast as you can. It's really fun and also you can rack up serious chip damage on the bosses.
Happy new year brother! Appreciate the videos as always :)
Yes finally a new video.
Appreciate your work 👍🚀
Snow Bros and Tumble Pop were my go-to games at the arcades, thank you for the video! 👾✌🏼
Love your videos dood ❤
Love this channel!
What a great way to start the new year. Happy new year!
I don't think I have ever played this one, can't wait to see your playthrough.
Thanks for unlocking my arcade nostalgia even though it for NES after this video I want and saw the Mega Drive and Switch version, the them having extra level and being able to play as the princess is a treat and I want a sequel and Happy New UCBVG.
Great work through UCBVG you haven’t done an episode in awhile hope you get to do more videos soon👍
15:16
There is actually another warp zone at level 11 at the top left of the stage
Just picked up a copy for Switch.
Use to have a copy on NES and Gameboy. Phenomenal game.
Happy new year UCBVG!!
Nice way to Start off the New Year UCBVG 🥳 🎊 🎉 🎈😎
I have this on a 4 in 1 Famiclone cartridge alongside Pocket Monster, Ninja Ryukenden 2 and Super Contra 6 (a fair hack of Contra Force). Snow Bros. was one of mom's favourite game such as Solomon's Key or Pooyan. She played this game with dad quite often. It's a really fair one of the NES game palette.
Happy New Year and kepp up your work!
Youre back!
Please do Zombies ate my Neighbors for SNES and I'll never bug you again!
I absolutely loved the arcade version. Played it at least for a couple tokens each visit to showbiz pizza.
Manythnx and Happy new year U Can Beat Video Games ✌️
Excellent Spin Doctors reference!
Notice Kylo didn’t say this was a patron voted video. I’m guessing it goes a bit like this;
Patrons- dragon quest titles, Zelda titles, final fantasy games
Kylo- 🤔 “I need a quick game to upload somewhere in the middle of these”
I really played it a lot but NEVER found any of the secret items or warp zones or the time attack modes😅 Thank you for that!
Doing a snow bros episode before bubble bobble? Wow, that’s surprising. I hope bubble bobble gets a video too, but this was a very fun video nonetheless
Would love to see you do a video for Dragon Warrior/Quest 4. It is my personal favorite of the series.
I recently watched almost all of your guides and I’m loving every moment of it! ; I do have a question though: will you ever cover any of the GameCube pokemon games (ex: gale of darkness/ Colosseum) anytime soon?
One of my favorite games to play at the arcade!
So cool thank you ucbvg
I was wondering when we were going to get another rare game. Happy New Year UCBVG
My birthday was two days ago, so I'm counting this as a present.
Can't say anything else the snow Bros were the best for me as far as I can remember
Love this game!!!
Such an addictive franchise!
I remember playing this on arcade. Had no idea there was a nes version!
Happy New Year
“This is just one of those games you’ll have to play however you can” is so based
Holy shit man, I got introduced to this game at a restaurant in hazlet, nj called Jim’s burger haven. And it was awesome.
The onion spire on the tower in the background of the Mogira boss looks like a slime enemy from Dragon Warrior.
Hello! Long time subscriber and huge fan of the channel. Can you please do a deep dive on Golgo 13 the Professional, or The Mafat Conspiracy?
one of my favourite 😍
Ah I remember playing this in the arcade it was a lot of fun
I actually have this cartridge! Got it at a dimple records years and years ago, for less then $20! Man i miss the old days of retro game hunting 😭
I think this, and Gotcha Force, on the gamecube, might be two of my most valuable games, along with Ninja 5-O on the GBA. All great games 😉
That is some high quality music.
One of the first games I ever emulated
I never knew this game existed. Like most of us, I was already caught up in Super NES fervor.
Played it a lot in the arcade and rented it on nes.
The title screen in the arcade with the snow tos being skin color gave me nightmares lol
I played the hell out of this in one of the nes clones I had as a kid haha
Super James Pond is another cool SNES game that comes to mind
I really wish I had scooped up some of those late period NES games at the time.
Pretty good graphics for a nes game like seriously
I never even knew this game existed, but when I saw it, they remind me of one of the bosses in Kirby. Are these the same guys?
Cool video,! Waiting for his 16 bit versión, the best Port ever made
Great game
I think at stage 14, there's hidden sweets just left where first player spawned. It just give you points, though.
Happy New Year everyone!
Simple and addictive
I both cringed and grinned at the Spin Doctors bit 😝
I always thought this game is very similar to bubble bobble.
Never heard of this. Cool video though!
The little dog is now bigger than the original dog.
I never had a blue hamburger, but on a deployment to Iraq I encountered a purple hamburger in an MRE. Legit purple. Considering they aren’t really meat, I figured it was safe and got about half of it down.
Happy New Year, everyone. 🎊🎉🥂🍀
Happy New Year! Never played the NES or arcade versions, but recently downloaded the mobile port of the arcade version. Think as a kid i would've liked the NES version.
@@nero48 this is how i feel about earthbound. like an idiot, I sold it to my friend (game + guide) for like 20 bucks. I think it was either middle or mid high school.
Hello U Can Beat Video Games today I have some games propositions that I want YOU to play, have you ever heard of the japanese arcade game developers called Psikyo they're quite underrated but very beloved in the 90's until 2000's beginnings! they're quite in the shoot 'em up genre for making:
Strikers 1945 Franchise!
Sengoku Franchise!
and Gunbird which is absolutely one of my favorites Psikyo games franchise!!
Well even they're quite known for they're brutal difficulties they are extremely love by many.
It will be so great and amazing that you do a Ultimate Run about them especially Gunbird! ☺👍🥰👌🙏
Yes
I really wish we would have kept all of my nes stuff. When I was a kid I asked for a genes and luckily I got one. But unfortunately my mom sold the Nintendo stuff because she only wanted one system in the house.
I don't know if it's been mentioned but there is a warp in 11 top left corner like in level 32
Snow Bros 3 - I think its called the Next Generation is really odd entry the snow Bros look totally different and even uncanny valley.
There was another game similar to Snow Bros and Bubble Bobble was on the arcade and neo geo where you play as Gnomes or Dwarfs with big hammers but I cannot remember it's title.
