How adjustable coilover shocks work

Have you ever wondered “what happens when I turn the knob on my coilovers?” Or, maybe you just fell down a RUclips rabbit hole after looking up videos on how Giraffes sleep and ended up here.
Different coilover shocks have different methods of adjustment, this video demonstrates what MOST people have, a rebound damping adjustable shock. Your specific shock intervals might look slightly different, but the concept is the same.

Very cool! I thought it was more like opening and closing small ports for a tuned flow, but a spring loaded valve adjustment makes total sense too.
