From the press conference - I truly think Jones is leaning into the Bad Guy role TOO much for this to not be some kind of marketing drive for when they do make Aspinall vs Jones. But if they make Aspinall vs Jones with Jones as the Big Bad Final Boss Champion no one likes - it makes Tom look like the bigger "babyface" / good guy in the whole build up.

I’m gonna be honest, and I know that I am gonna catch a lot of heat for this but idc it’s how I feel. Jon has no obligation to fight Tom Aspinall. Jon has beat 10+ Tom Aspinall’s throughout the decade long career he’s had. every other year, there is a new Tom Aspinall who is going to beat Jon Jones. before Tom Aspinall it was Thiago Santos, before Santos it was Reyes. there were many men who were believed to beat Jon Jones who never even got to the finish line: Pavlovich, Jonny Walker, etc. If Jon Jones were to fight Tom Aspinall after Stipe, by the time Jon beats Tom Aspinall there will be a new rising contender who fight fans will believe has the answers to beat Jon Jones. if he continues fighting every man who fans think is the answer, eventually he is going to be old enough to actually lose. he is the greatest fighter we’ve ever seen, I’m okay with giving him some grace as he fades into retirement. 10 years ago I was a massive fan of Jon…. Jon’s legacy is destroying his reputation over the last 10 years failed drug tests, hit and runs, beating his wife and now ducking!
Jon's not just ducking Tom, he ducked Francis then the second Francis left the organization started publicly calling Francis a pussy. Also stated publicly he wouldn't fight DC at heavyweight because he didn't want to give DC the advantage.
The reason Jon needs to fight Tom is not even because of the belt. The real reason he needs to fight Tom is because the division is trash 🗑 Even at 42 years old, Stipe is better than almost everyone that Tom has ever beaten and could beat all of them except for probably Blades. I'm not saying Tom isn't good. He has had lightning fast wins in all of his matches. What I am saying is that his only notable win is Blades, and the division needs more talent.

I remember Luke saying all this in a video and then about 2 weeks later was the press conference where Jon refused to answer Lukes question
ironic part is if someone beats Jones record his legacy will be forgotten but luke legacy will be cemented he is one of the original pioneers or mma media or reporter
Very few fighters enter the UFC with less than 5 to 10 professional fights under their belt. That alone should be enough time to know not to poke someone let alone when you’ve had a 20 year career in the UFC. So being in the UFC should be enough experience to know you shouldn’t poke. So I agree with the pre-fight warning for fighters who have committed such fouls in previous fights, especially recent ones.
To the guy who is worried about "diet nazis" I have some advice. Get off your phone and live in the real world. Also, study 20th C history :) I promise you everything will be fine.

I think anyone saying that Jones would want the gloves changed to facilitate eye pokes is misguided. But he clearly favours extending his fingers, possibly both for distance management & to dissuade opponents from coming at him directly. Makes sense that he would want the old gloves when the new ones would make his favoured style more difficult.
Even though there is a risk involved, Aspinall should have been piling up title defenses. If he had like 4 title defenses, he would be a more legitimate new lineal champion than Jones. Aspinall could've converted his interin title into a regular one in the eyes of the fans.

Beating up retired old man Stipe Miocic is not good for legacy. But fighting Tom Aspinall who's currently the best heavyweight in the world is great for legacy. 🤔🤔
I think people are overlooking how favourable a match up Aspinall is for Jon. Aspinall is awesome, but his #1 skill is blitzing people. That's EXACTLY what Jon needs to get an easy takedown. It's really hard to take guys down in modern MMA, but if Tom is going to storm forward with punches like he always does, that's PERFECT for Jon. So honestly, I think this is all a troll by Jon. I think he's pushing up the price for the fight because he knows he would be quite easy to take down and finish Aspinall on the ground.
@@lasky8978 We've not seen Tom on the ground with anybody good, so who knows how good his ground game is. He might be, but we know FOR SURE Jon is a savage on the ground. We don't have to guess, Tom does not want to go to the ground with Jon. I think his walk forward blitz style may actually be the reason Aspinall loses to Jones in the end. Works on bums like Pavolvich, but not on a guy who has that level of well rounded game.
@VolatilityTradingStrategies Jones is definitely well rounded but Aspinall is too, and he's younger, bigger, faster and stronger. We've only seen like a minute of bones in this division, against a dude with zero ground game. We may get a better picture of things after this upcoming fight 🤷♂️
@@itsFFH Agreed, it's not Aspinall's fault that the heavyweight division is not only the worst division the sport, but it's also the worst batch of heavyweights in the divisions history. He's clowning on these bums, and that's not his fault. But it does mean that we have no idea what Aspinall's ground game is really like. It could be terrible, it could be good. All we know is, Jon's IS world class.
I really like the way Luke talks about legacy. As a fight fan it irritates me to listen to people talking about legacy so much. If anyone thinks that 20 year olds in the year 2040 will be talking about the Jon Jones standing choke on Machida, you are mistaken.
The Stipe fight was scheduled long before Tom even won his interim belt. It was postponed because of an injury. If he decided to fight Tom and not Stipe, would we all be saying he was ducking Stipe? Seems like Jon is in a no win situation. Mind you, this fight is only happening because Francis left and Stipe came out of the woodwork. Francis and Stipe cloud the water at HW and its still Jons fault....
Legacy? When I think of Jon Jones, the first thing that comes to mind is steroids, eye pokes and oblique kicks, followed by dodging HW. People forget that while still at LHW, he once said it would be "heroic" of him to fight Stipe. Heroic! Smh
Ppl aren’t bothering Stipe about Tom not because Stipe handled it better than Jon… NOBODY gives Stipe a chance is why and it’s a foregone conclusion Jon wins.
Luke, you're basically saying that Jon should just follow the path of all aging fighters who eventually get beat by younger bigger fighters ? Jon is saying he knows by experience not to fall in that trap. That's intelligent, not ducking . Ducking would be Jon continues to defend the heavyweight title after Stipe but not give Tom a title shot.

I think he's pushing up the price for the fight because he knows he would be quite easy to take down and finish Aspinall on the ground.
Tom is huge and brilliant on the ground...
Very true!! 🙌
Sorry to hear about your Uncle, Luke. You and your family seem to have been going through it lately. Hope things take a turn for the better.
So is there not one good thing from the republican side? You're acting like they're out to harm you bro. It's going to be ok u promise.
He was wanting to transition on taxpayers dime. Have a heart.
Maybe he cares about people that aren't himself. Not everyone is a self centered twat.
@@tacticalwookiee7476 lmao no one is more self centered than libs. Everything is about them and their mental issues. Nutjobs
Legacy? When I think of Jon Jones, the first thing that comes to mind is steroids, eye pokes and oblique kicks, followed by dodging HW. People forget that while still at LHW, he once said it would be "heroic" of him to fight Stipe. Heroic! Smh
I hope luke has seen the video of jones ducking interviews due to tom aspinal
It’s GUARANTEED JJ pokes him in the eye. 100%
The Legacy convo reminds me of Marcus Aurelius. He says the same thing about legacy.
“How many US presidents can you name” 😂😂😂
