The orchestra is MONSTROUS on this. Seeing the string section so perfectly in sync like an army of cyborgs is almost surreal. Props to them and that conductor. Hamelin is also a technical object of worship, of course. That said, I don't think I like the Concerto itself that much. Bit too bombastic for my taste perhaps? Also, 7:44. Looks like someone dropped a mic :D
Yangshensensen there's extraordinary skills at work on both sides. For me, I've never been in love with the concerto as a whole, but parts are still startlingly original (the first eight minutes or so), so I find it gripping if I keep a distance, only taking it out for a reason. Hamelin being one. Or Richter, who plays with such intensity it's unimportant how silly the March is.
strange i prefer this lyrical concerto to liszts first virtuosic one but i love both i have this one on lp richter both concerti and it stands up favourably to richter
This is just astonishing - the piece, Hamelin's playing, the orchestra - all is perfect!
Finally a standing ovation for a world class performance of one of the greatest piano concertos of all time Period !!!!!
The conductor is Kent Nagano, he is the chief conductor of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal).
This piece is absolutely outstanding 😍
it gets steep in there.

Why is the piano wearing a case?
just in case 😉
@@jedrzejsteszewski6694bruhhh you made my day
Just the soloist deserves credit, not the orchestra and the conductor?
punkpoetry I discovered the Orchestra is Montreal Symphony conducted by Kent Nagano.
punkpoetry In this order:
1. Composer
2 . Soloist
3. Conductor
4. Orchestral members
