Hi Helen and dave , we watch your videos a lot but we're amazed to find out you were from Chesterfield. My dad's side of the family of which there aren't many left are from Derbyshire. Dad's from clay Cross nr Chesterfield. Apparently when he moved with my nan and grandad back in the late 50's had a strong Derbyshire accent eh up duck lol always made me laugh . I travelled up there in the late 80's . Unfortunately due to circumstances since then I haven't been able to visit . Dad's now 92 and in fair health. I honestly feel the folks from the Midlands are the salt of the earth . Cheers Helen and dave . My missus is also amazing she's from North London. Her name is ju and I'm shaun. We've recently bought our first caravan an old lady that's in brilliant condition a 2006 swift challenger 530.
Hi Ju & Shaun, thanks very much for watching and leaving a comment. Yes, that Derbyshire accent is quite distinctive! My older brothers & sisters are broader than me, I was 8 when we left but still have family there. Hope you’re enjoying the Challenger 530, a nice van 👍 Thanks again, Dave & Helen 👍
Hi guys Sorry to here about you're mishap. Happens to the best of us,good to see you again.look forward to the video of how to clean the pipe system. Take care pleasant journeys. Joe x Tracey
Hi Joe & Tracey, thanks for the comment. Great to be back on RUclips after a short break. I’ll get that pipe cleaning video on soon. ATB Dave & Helen 👍
I remember our first van, brand new straight from Glossop Caravans to a campsite, never towed before, never had a caravan before, tried to erect an awning, roof pole fell down, hit the van. Less than a day old with a dent in the side, how shit do you feel. I can laugh now
Hi Mark & Coral, completely and the annoying bit is just how avoidable it is/was! Looks like we're finally meeting up in Suffolk in a few months time! ATB, Dave & Helen
Hi Dave and Helen I always find it exciting getting the van ready to go away following a Winter lay off, it’s a while off yet but looking forward to our next adventure.
So true Colin, it really is exciting. We're so looking forward to this years adventures. Hope you have a great year too. Another summer like last years would be a bonus! ATB, Dave & Helen.
Hello Helen and Dave, Happy new year, great to see you guys back videoing, looking forward to the how to clean your water pipes and maybe acua roll ?, until then take care 👍👍.
Hello Dave & Helen, Glad to see you’re all spruced up and ready for the new touring season 🌞. We all have caravan slip ups but what a shame about the damage, fingers crossed for a perfect fix for you 🔨🪚. Looking forward to following your adventures 2023. By the way we’re at Chatsworth next month but the house is closed. All the very best, Rob & Gail
Hi Rob & Gail, yeah I know but isn’t it annoying and so avoidable but it could have been worse. Looking forward to Chatsworth never been with the caravan but went on a day trip from school when I lived in Chesterfield. Hope you have a lovely stay looking forward to the video. Cheers, Dave and Helen 👍
Hi Dave and Helen so sorry to hear about poor Bella hope she is ok she is gorgeous 💕 We have have been to Tenby stayed in Lydstep Haven been going there over the last 20 years the Pembrokeshire coast is stunning , Manorbier,Saundersfoot, Tenby Harbour & South beach ,and Barafundle Bay which you get to by a coastal path walk all stunning love the place. Enjoy your Travels we are on seasonal pitch now in Criccieth we love it there thanks for sharing 😀
Hi Liz, thanks for the info, that’s really useful, backs up our research and sounds just what we’re hoping for from this trip. Bella is doing really well, despite losing an eye. She’s such a lovely, loyal little dog. Thanks so much, Helen & Dave. 👍
Great to have back we just booked poolsbrook there beginning of February also another 4 through till end of may also just splashed out on a brand new Elddis Avante 554 so looking forward to trying her out we stay at a lovely still just outside of Buxton called Longnor Wood may be worth a look
Hi Paul, Congratulations on the new caravan, the Elddis Avante is a lovely van. Poolsbrook is a great site and just a mile or so from where I grew up in Hollingwood, so we're looking forward to our trip there. Wishing you many fun trips in the van this year. Cheers, Dave & Helen.
I feel your pain to what happened with your caravan. From a third person point of view, honestly it isn't all visible and as my parents and grandparents used to say back in Wales when we got scratched as children, it is just a 'cic chwannen' (flea kick - kicked by a flea). Although you probably felt as if it had been charged by a rhinoceros! Wishing you safe and happy travels throughout the year and look forward to seeing your reports! In particular, enjoy Wales!
Hi there Andrew, you’re right of course, nothing substantial but so annoying! That’s a cracking saying! and we’re really looking cotton the Wales tour, it looks so pretty. ATB to you for a great year ahead. Cheers, Dave & Helen 👍
Oops a little bump like that with the weight of the van behind it can be heartbreaking 🙀 Looks like you have the repair in hand. Looking forward to seeing you at Clopton. You have a busy year ahead 😃👍🏻 Trev
Cheers Trev, not the end of the world but it makes you wonder about damage if you were involved in anything more serious. Really looking forward to your meet up. ATB to you & Sue. Cheers Dave & Helen 👍
Scarborough nice place go up there nearly every weekend in my wagon a place called seamer the run up there very scenic once you get on the A64 watch out for speed camera vans
Hoorah!! We’ve missed you two. Great to see a video from you again and we’re looking forward to your forthcoming adventures. PS Handbrake first next time 👍
Hi Dave and Helen, good to see pup is doing OK. An annoying ding there, but could have been worse, I guess. My (not so regular now) thing with the motor mover is forgetting to retract it and wonder why I am unable to drive away. Been a while since I did that now, as I try and stick to a routine and do the usual locker and rooflight checks as well as the mover position. Like yourselves, we have planned and booked many of our trips for this year, including Clubfest, enjoyed the Belvoir fest last year and the entertainment looks really like being really great once again. Enjoy getting out and about again and looking forward to more site reviews being posted.
Hi Mel, annoying but as you say could have been worse. If you see us at Clubfest, do come and say hello. Sounds like you have some great plans too. Enjoy, ATB Dave & Helen 👍
I thanks for a great blog really enjoyed it ,and glad to here the little dogs ok ,ps is that a Kia Sportage your pulling the caravan with because i have one and I'm pulling a swift Elegance 580 very similar to yours seems ok x
Thanks Tony that’s very much appreciated and kind of you to say so. Yes we tow with the Sportage and it tows just great, we’ve been really pleased with it. Sounds like we have similar set ups. ATB Dave & Helen 👍
Hi Dave and Helen - nice to see you back. Looks like you have some nice trips planned. Chesterfield is my hometown (Brimington) and still have lots of family there so use Poolsbrook when visiting. Where did you live?
Hi Janet, small world. We lived in Hollingwood but my Father and Grandparents are from Brimington Common. Mum used to work in Brimington - Starbuck's. ATB, Dave & Helen
Wow what a coincidence - I went to Hollingwood Girls Secondary School and when I was old enough used to frequent the Hollingwood Hotel lol. My Grandad and Dad worked at Ireland Colliery so lots of memories when we visit Poolsbrook Club Site😁
Oh blimey, that’s amazing. The Hollingwood Hotel was my parents and grandparents local 🍺🍷. We moved into Chesterfield on Sheffield Road before heading to Manchester and now Caister On Sea. We will be back at Poolsbrook soon. 👍
Do you take it in turns when you visit houses? We have a dog too and I love visits to National Trust properties and Chatsworth is a definite favourite.
Hi Sandra, yes we do, Helen normally goes first while Bella and me have a coffee and then it’s my go. We enjoy visiting National trust properties too. Thanks very much for watching and leaving a comment. ATB, Dave & Helen 👍
Hi both, out of interest, did you get the bodywork repairs done? The reason I ask is we have a very small dink in a place where only I notice it, but it bugs me 😂 I think it was done when the van was in for some warranty work. I’m curious how they repair small dents where the paint hasn’t been marked. Loving White House Beach btw. I’m wondering if Suffolk is even nicer than Norfolk 😂 all the best Alan
Hi Alan, we liked White House Beach too and Suffolk is also very charming, some great campsites we are visiting a few soon. No, I didn’t get the repairs done. Mobile repair men came, attempted to repair but the dents were too small to pull out. They reckoned it would have need doing from the inside which is a major job so we left it. Be interested to know if you do manage any successful repairs to yours because like you it bugs me although no one else notices them 😂. ATB, Dave & Helen 👍
I’m expecting the same outcome. I think the only way to repair would be filler and paint. To be honest, it’s very small and right next to the awning rail at the top of the van and unless I pointed it out, then no one else would notice. I was annoyed that the dealer appears quite dismissive of it, otherwise I would let it sink to the back of my mind. Alan
Another lucky escape! I suppose it’s easy done but hopefully never again. Quick reaction your part though. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Cheers, Dave & Helen 👍
Thanks for you content really good to view now we’ve just purchased our caravan. Quick question, the mirrors on the kitchen and bathroom wall, did they come with the caravan or did you purchase these, if so where from? Thanks Tris
Hi Tristan, thanks for watching the channel. No we added the pebble effect mirrors and we are really pleased with them and they are cheap. If you look at the description in our video's you will see a link to our Amazon store. Click the link and then click Caravan accessories and you should see them there. You will pay the same price as everyone else but we get a few pennies in commission if you buy any. If you have any problems finding them, then let us know and I'll send you a separate link. ATB, Dave & Helen.
Hi guys, I am thinking of buying a motorhome to tour the whole of the uk, questions? can you stay all year round at various sites, are wifi sites good enough for firestick streaming etc, is it worth joining a club, or is living in a motorhome for a long period not a good idea, your thoughts please.
Hi BR, many thanks for your comment. Lots of people live full time in Motorhomes these days and seem to have a great time. Personally I would want a home as a base (even if I rented it out) need security/fallback incase of emergency, breakdown or illness. Many sites open all year round and offer seasonal pitches which you can book up for long periods. We stream via a fire stick when in the van but not all sites have robust WiFi as they’re are often hundreds of people logging in. I stream via 4g on my phone a lot and lots of people install their own WiFi in vans. Joining a club is really beneficial. The annual fee can be saved on the full price on just one booking. We did a video on this, checkout our back catalogue. Hope that helps, cheers, Dave & Helen 👍
@@HelenandDave Thanks for your reply, I see you are only allowed 28 days on certain sites then you have to move on. This is not a problem while touring but if I need to stay at a certain place to re-group say a couple of months or more can this be achieved?
