Few years ago when Astralis were in their prime I played against him. Even managed to clutch 1v3 against him and 2 others. Me and my friends against him and his friends and his ex-gf. The guy was insane. He wasn't flashy like s1mple, he wasn't disrespecting us, but he was bold because he is a pro - he had a lot of other advantages over us. His shooting was flawless, his deagle was making us shit ourselves. I don't know how we managed to win, but to be fair only device and one other swedish guy were good. Emilia was trash and the other two were around our level. He dropped 35+ kills and still lost, but he wasn't salty. My friends disrespected him and started meme talking and telling him he is a choker, but he didn't react. To be fair I was never an Astralis fan, but from their roster I always liked and respected device, because he just seemed flawlessly cool. And even when my friends started meme-ing at the end of the match he kept his cool and didn't trash talk back. I have huge respect towards the guy and his consistency. People may say he is boring but to be fair he plays a "correct" Counter-Strike. Minimizing mistakes, which is underrated compared to the flashiest players.
@@WaTzu Yeah true bro, its cool to see actually the part with the chat messages, ive never seen him talk like that before. He comes from the same city as me, its a small town in Denmark called Vejle, we used to go to the same school
Many of regular players just focus way too much on hitting headshots and then fail miserably when spraying fight comes. Because of that, players take stupid fights where they want to hit headshots but die because there is 2+ players pushing their position or opponent is at better position holding angle where you are about to show up. Device is perfect example of how important positioning and patience is when it comes to taking fights, he is very smooth to watch and very calculated, there is reason why he has 4 (?) majors under his name. When you focus on headshots, you will only aim for head and there are moments where aiming at head simply wont get you kill but instead, get you killed. Nice video by the way!
it's insane because to a smart player, a god flash implies two players, so despite being the only anchor in B, the smoke and the god flash plus him awping it gave the impression that there is an AWP and a potential rifle
i heard someone say sunpayus was the spanish device and while i don’t think he’s as good he’s probably the best at positioning himself i’ve seen since device, in cologne up until that final it felt like he was almost always able to get a 7/10 awp duel that he also couldn’t be traded from
He does actually gets a fair amount of hs, if you watch pro matches, against teams like heroic or navi or g2 from IEM Cologne, you'll see that he knows he can't just beat all these top players by positioning alone, a lot of his shots were hs. Although I would say in Astralis in general there is a lack of pure mechanical aim. Device Baitf Buzz and Staehr, none of them are known for their pure mechanical aim, device is top 5 top be fair with awp deagle and ak but he's not he's kown more for positioning. That's why they got Borup in I think. Borup did a lot of enteries and some really good lurks where he would just hs multiple enemies.
@@WaTzu same same, its a fair point. He isn't always mechanically brilliant. Also one more thing I have noticed watching device play for all these years is that from round 1 to round 7 or 8 you'll see he's negative kd or struggling. And then if you stop watching and see the end scores you'll see he top fragged or carried or had a very positive KD. There are times when he dominate from the start but more often than not I've usually seen him having a bad start and then coming up with muli kills in mid rounds. Crazy guy.
@@srensen3081 definitely zywoo and s1mple above him in terms of team impact, but then the rest of the list gets blurry. i personally rate prime fnatic olafmeister, sk era coldzera, prime jw, prime guardian, and a few other players over him if we were to talk purely skill wise. but over an entire career? yeah dev has them all beat especially when you account for accolades
@@WaTzu my point exactly, sure there were players with higher peaks, but longevity and the impact hes had on cs as a whole should imo also be considered heavily, which is why he is in my top 3
Well play mate ! his nick name is immortal device ! he can dodging bullets and if he missed he always has second chance to reset his aim to shoot again by his positioning
im trying to future proof myself in case i make one of these videos and accidentally don't know one of the players lol, i think it's better to act as though they are all on the same level than to gas up a few players, and embarrassingly discredit someone by not mentioning them
this is not a flex, i feel like i position exaclty like this guy, and i commonly throw those util if i susepect pushes etc, tryna control my teammates from swinging mid like idiots too. i never say these things, i just passively do it knowing itll stop certian moves from my teammate LMAO good video,. funny shit. additonally : some players in faecit who think they are skilled try to call it baiting or other things when waiting for the frag, like when he was walking up short after thorwing the falsh for A waiting to trade, thats genuinily a good play. and something ID get yelled at for if it lost it lol
functionally the only difference I've found between faceit 3 and 7 is primarily mechanical skill, most of the people at my level are still just as brain dead as they used to be lol.
@@paterpen9832 cs is less about raw mechanical ability as it is anticipation. Anticipation meaning crosshair placement and experience. The time you spend actually fighting people in a given round is small. Positioning is a skill that requires a lot of experience but is a consistent tool you can rely on even if you're having a slow day. On a side note everybody thinks they are the smartest cs player when they queue up. The people that call others braindead are usually too fixated on some random aspect of the game that they deem more important than everything else. These videos are good but it also creates a sense of entitlement. Dunning Kruger hits hard.
@@OHTASISAN I fully agree. However, the same argument about positioning applies to Valorant. In a sense, it is even more punishing: Consider e.g. the bad decision to stay in Lamps with an enemy brim ult.
