- Episode 1. Sailing my 28ft catamaran on a 3 month cruise of the north eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island. This time we leave Whangarei and make it as far as Tutukaka on our way to North Cape
I sailed one of these years ago and I thought it was a good sea boat even in rough weather. Felt safe at all times
Quite funny hearing a Jamaican folk song sung by the cameraman, the Banana man, Day O !
Well done with your video.
I read James Wharram's book Two Girls Two Catarmarans about his first ocean-going catarmaran and was quite taken with his whole design evolution and philosophy by the end.
I had plans for building a Farrier F9AX tri some years back but family, business, and life got in the way and I didn't want to give up gliding and flying... I grew up with sailing, and have many fond memories sailing with my brother on his 28 foot Nova twin keeler. I see your Wharram is back on the market up north and wish my wife was interested in sailing, as I would be very interested in in this catamaran ...
I love it Luke my name is Lucas it means light we are the light this is a great boat thank you for putting this clip on love to see more
Great video for a first go! Would be keen to see more of your voyaging.
I have some more to come. Might get to it over winter
Love it
Great video. I built and launched a Tanenui 1992 so good to see the professional do it so well. Loved the boat and took it on seven month trip from southern Scotland across Channel and through french canals to the Med. Sold it back in Scotland . Great boat but better for NZ climate.

Great boat. Ok for New Zealand climate in summer. But really better for a tropical climate.
@@murihau Why?
Love it, we have just sold our keel boat and I am quite keen on a Wharram, probably let a Tiki or one of these. you have helped the decision.
The Tanenui is a great boat. I have not sailed a tiki but would like to try one out.
Cool video, looking forward to episode 2!
Enjoyed your first effort Luke.
I will subscribe to your channel I enjoyed your video so peaceful relaxing to watch I hope you aren't planning to make more videos watching from California USA
nice one
Thanks
Have you thought about add a pilot house ? Just wondering .
No, I never thought about adding a pilot house to the Tanenui. I wouldn't know how to do that without spoiling the sailing ability of the vessel
Have you ever seen the larger Maine Cats they are like the modern evolution of the Wharram cats..
I have just visited the maine cat website because of your recommendation.

What did you think ...the O' kellys did a detailed tour of a friends Mainecat...
I liked the idea of a sporting cruiser that wasnt a floating apartment and safe/protected undersail.
@@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 They look pretty good on the website.

Search for the O'kellys tour of one... Theres a even more sporting vessel based on the same central control living bridge deck layout. Shooting star's ruclips.net/video/fpoAAu5ufr8/видео.html
See other info on U tube.
I have seen pictures and video of the larger ones. I suppose they could be seen as modern evolution of a wharram. Although, would you agree that using that comparison with any modern catamaran might also be true?
Hey who made the deck tent that you have st up there?
Hey, thanks for your enquiry. The answer you seek is hidden in plain sight.. Listen carefully at about 11.40 and all will be revealed! 0278743390
