I had the privilege to spent Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippour in Israel and I learned this song there. Beautiful.

The most beautifully perfect example of Hebraic chant on earth....it bleeds pain yet with everlasting hope and salvation. This I say now from my Hellenic Heart.... Zito!.....Live !

I live far from a Jewish community. Listening to this takes me back to Holidays of my childhood. I sit here with tears flowing as I hear the words I heard as a little girl. We stood in Shul as 3 generations. Thank you for taking me back to a happier time of my life.

Check out the different congregations that live stream the holiday services. Most are free to watch on computer etc.

This is the traditional ashkenazi rendition. My father used to sing this at the synagogue on Yom Kippur.

Nothing ashkanazi about it it is typical Adalucian musical tradition in the key of Gm or phrigyn D

@@brucelevine6517 indeed. Listen to the Cante Jondo of the Gitanos Andaluces! You shall find this Hebraic chant as their foundation in song

As a Hellene, One can hear our own Ancient Musical Modalities, for over 4,000 years, in this marvelous prayer of Yom Kippur sung so spiritually....graciously shared throughout countless centuries. In our Eastern Orthodox Church Liturgical Chants, one will hear the exact hypnotic sounds from our Cantors crying out to their God on Good Friday Evening Services throughout the Eastern World....An eternal bond to the Hebraic Soul...."Sephardim Forever....To The End Of Days!"

I descended from the original Jews of Greece - not the Sephardim, but the Jews who lived in northern Greece for more than two millennium: the Romaniote. My ancestors were from Ioannina in Epirus. Although only a very small number of us remain as most were killed by the Nazis in WW2, we are still here.
