    Pat asked for an example of a Trophy House , Jack gave it to Pat, Pat felt stupid , got angry and sore. Pat asked for it and thanks to Jack he got his answer. No need for Jack to apologise . If you ask questions expect to get answers some you may not like.

    It's obvious that Jack O'Connor was nervous and failed miserably at an attempt to inject some sort of humour in to the situation. Pat, as a supposedly professional interviewer, should have recognised this and passed it off in the humour that it was meant and could have quite easily moved on rather than take the approach that he did.
    Jack O'Connor did apologise for the remark when he realised that Pat didn't share the 'humour' of his comment and (Un)Professional Pat should have acknowledged this

    The figure in the Tribune on sunday was €120,000. Listening to Jack on Friday the man was brilliant, he said it as it is, that it is not about public versus private but about getting the top 5% to own 40% of the wealth to pay their share and take a fair share of the burden.

    Kenny works 11 hours a week with 3 months holidays thrown in which gives him over €800,000 a year, who the fuck decided to give him his Grotesque salary, its obscene

  • @PaytonWestlake
    @PaytonWestlake 14 лет назад +3

    Pat Kenny's unjustifiable salary is possible because of ordinary taxpayers money. RTE is funded by both private ad revenue and tax money (via TV Licence). It should be one or the other, not both. It's what makes RTE the bloated, unimaginative, political and nepotistic organisation that it is.

    @hurlinboy i love youtube for the comments,its great .. but if you make a comment like that please get your facts right, i work in the public service frontline,im on 35k a year,im grateful for my job... i pay a pension levy and pension contribution to 150 euro a week,when i retire in 25 more years ,i will get a pension worth 20k a year,this includes the state pension,. remember all public servants are not on100k a year TDs.

  • @tyvire

    Jack o connor is so out of touch. he talks of an alternative to making up the 4 billion needed but when asked to expand on it turns out there's no substance to his argument. Then he goes on about the 7 percent already taken as if it's the worst thing that could happen while in this current climate (which happens to be the biggest downturn in the history of the state). Get real would you..200,000 or so added to the live register in the last year. how many public/civil workers included there??

    @BeanyAye Earning thousands for doing nothing? Putting himself out there on hours of live TV and radio every week often taking in nearly 50% of TV viewers in the hole country.... up for ridicule and abuse, no privacy.... the reason you think he "does nothing" is because he makes it look like nothing because he's one of the best in the country at it.... you try it

  • @sarsirl
    @sarsirl 14 лет назад +3

    Can I just say, Pat Kenny's salary isn't "just under a million", it's €630,000 p/a, which is still a huge amount admittedly, but people should at least get their figures right before attacking him.
    Plus, Jack O'Connor's salary is €124,000 p/a, so he's hardly entitled to take the moral highground on trophy houses, and can empathise no more than Kenny with the people who are affected by the recession the most.

    its so annoying for pat kenny,marian fanucan and other rte elites complaining and sympathising with real sufferers of this recession like for example i heard pat kenny recently go on a rant about how public sector wages might be going down and he's nearly getting a million a year. absolute hypocrits! you can understand a doctor or lawyer earning lots cause they studied hard and work hard jobs but what hard labour does pat kenny actually do to earn this kind of money????

    @hurlinboy ,,, get your facts correct first MR hurlinboy ,,, Public sector workers pay pension contributions , not GET them as you say , Secondly i work in the public sector and i dont earn 100 grand a year , and i wont get 50 % of my pay as a pension , Might i remind you that it wasnt the public sector workers who caused the recession , I think you would need to look at the bankers , developers etc

    Pat gets all sensitive about this yet has no problem having a cut off john O' Shea or Duffer earning 3 million a year while he gets a lot of abuse for earning 1 million a year...Well Pat(a)You're not comparing like with like as these guys won't be earning this wage at 63(which you are)...(b)They are playing in the top league in Europe,Ireland is a tiny market,not like you're working in the US Market...(c)You're a dour,talentless git,they aren't...(d)See point c

    He is not a good entertainment host but does deal well with current affairs.
    If you want entertainment go watch another host.

    @TT_1221 13 лет назад +2

    @1tomdooley "Might I remind you, it wasn't the public sector workers who caused the recession . . " - That ignorant remark just typlifies the public sector mentality in Ireland. The public sector Gravy train in Ireland is over, and thats the best thing to come from this crisis. The croke park agreement will make the savings and then the Gov will quite rightly take a long overdue scalpel to it and cut the wasters out. The public sector and their vested interests ruined this country.

    The SIPTU boss presumed that Kenny has an enormous house just because he's rich.
    That's a bit like some arrogant poshie like me making a throwaway remark about (for example) Fatima Mansions to a tradesman just because of his working-class accent.
    And that SIPTU man earns more than my dad.
