I would love to see an end to handshakes. There's nothing worse than seeing someone you partially recognise come out of the lavs and offer their hand. It's even worse when their palms are suspiciously dry. You think, "You may as well have slapped your tackle into my mitts" Yeuch!
Gavin Newsom, California Governor, has released tens of thousands from prisons, resulting in an average of 44% increase in homicides, and similar figures for other categories of crime. Retail theft isn’t prosecuted unless more than $950 has been stolen. Major department stores left California in past 4 years.

Alfred Hitchcock had a lifelong fear of policemen. His father got a local bobby to lock him in a cell for a short while after the lad had done something wrong. He was so scared that he learnt his lesson.
We needed to do something similar and prosecute every crime no matter how minor, make people fear committing crime. Of course it is too late now, there are nowhere near the resources needed.
Perhaps we could bring back the stocks in digital form, instead of being locked on the village green, they could appear on a town Facebook page under "Scrotes of the week." It'll never happen but it's a nice thought.
