One of the best tracks they have ever made imo!! Absolutely awesome title track, blends the euphoric 80s feelings perfectly with The Midnight I know and love.
Agreed. Top-3 material for me, besides 'Jason' and 'Kids (reprise)'. Whenever the chorus starts I automatically turn up the volume and start singing along with a big smile on my face; this is an insane anthem and probably the retrowave song of the year.

This is my favorite song out of the whole album! When they say “I’m ready to live my life again” it really hits me because I’m getting a tonsillectomy on Tuesday the 13th after years of complications and haven’t been able to work or finish my college degree. When I get out of surgery I’m playing this song!! Thank you The Midnight for being the best band ever 😍❤️
this track's probably my favorite out of the album overall, along with change your heart and heartbeat! i absolutely love the key changes in the chorus
I already know I’m going to enjoy all of the songs from this album, but I think this one is my favorite so far. Excellent job Tyler and Tim and everyone else involved in the production 🙏🏻
Whatever it is that starts at 4:55 is absolutely breathtaking, listening to it for the first time. It’s divine in a way that doesn’t think of itself as such. It’s haunting. It fills me with images and feelings of a life I’ve never lived, of a sunset vista from the cliff of an alien world, of a nightlit city skyline that doesn’t exist yet, of a golden wheat field with a populated by a single windmill under a purple nebula-streaked sky. I need it in my veins.
It's such a lovely outro, quite an underlooked portion of the song. A lot of good and great songs have weak endings where they just fade from a chorus. But this one is really distinct, otherworldly and overall serves as a great punctuation on the song overall. Already love it too both from a lyrical and melodic standpoint, but the outro really launches this upwards to another galaxy.
Fantastic!!!!!!! Liked within the first 3 second!! That reverby guitar strum got a stark The Police vibe, certainly along with the "E-Jeh". Midnight, if you read all our comments: we love you to the moon and back. The wall of synth-sounds you bring is, again, propelling us to the highest realms of synthy sunsets. A masterpiece. We all want to thank you so much.
I went down a retro wave wormhole some years ago. I came out with the midnight tight in my clutches. I refuse to let go! Props on the album guys , kicks ass, best in the business as far as I'm concerned
The bridge thingy that starts at 3:00, and coming in with that giant sledgehammer of a bass synth, that feeling is exactly why i make music. The fact that it pulls the same feeling out of so many different people without saying a word. Summoned, evoked from somewhere else and pulled into reality. Tldr this shit slaps
You can't stop surprising me, every song you make have a strength that can be shared to those ones who hear it. It's what I feel every time I hear you guys. I can't say I have completely one favorite of all of the songs you have created cause every one haves it's special touch. I'm really happy I found your music. I love this album a lot has the other ones. Hate that I just can listen to you in the phone or the PC and not in a concert, but really I'm so glad you exist. Yesterday I was hearing dance with somebody and a humminbird just appeared , I was singing and it didn't gone away, I think he or she just feel the good vibes of the midnight. Keep doing so greatest music. Thank you for that. :3
When the first couple of singles came out, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel. But once Golden gate started playing and after Energy Never Dies, It Just Transforms ended, I realised that this was aspecial album just like Monsters and the previous records. Absolutely fantastic!
@@cliffmcfarland75 i would say "inspired by" or "homage", not really a ripoff. But they have shown that they are big Police fans so i personally appreciate the nod.
@@yoteca Also, hear the intro on B.F.L. The cars - "best friend's girl" come to mind?? And the intro to "Loved by you"...sounds a little similar to REO's "can't fight this feeling" right? I honestly haven't bitched about the midnights work after years of listening, until this album was released. I still preordered this album though. Im just pointing it out, that's all.
What a fucking tune, omfg. I can't express how much I just want to let others hear this. This song has the same feel as Los Angeles for me, just right on the button.
This album is incredible! And I just love the beautiful narrative that this band has created over these last 3 albums. Kids, Monsters, and now Heroes. Can't wait to hear these new tunes live!
Heroes and Aerostar I first heard back in December last year some guy uploaded them and they got taken down and I’ve been waiting and waiting for this album to release since and the wait is over
How? How do you guys continue to release hit after hit after hit? This is easily in my top 5 The Midnight songs. I saw you guys in Austin last year and I counting the days for the next show!
This is such an amazing song. Playing this for the first time dancing in the kitchen with my fiancé. My smile just got bigger as the song progressed. 🤍
It’s comments like these that are pissing me off lol everything that was great about The Midnight is missing from this snoozefest of an album. No synthwave, no sax and just all elevator love song music. Only songs I like are Aerostar and Avalanche and even those are becoming forgettable
@@jimarchambault8262 You are looking at it from your own point of view. This album is just as good as Monsters. I agree not every song is a banger but as an album it is better than Monsters and Kids. This album is about growth, empathy, and the love for every experience that one witnesses in their own lifetime. The themes in Heroes transpire better than Monsters and Kids. I love “Deep Blue”my personal favorite song from “The Midnight but this album is easier to relate to since I’m now 25. 80s music is different than the 70s but is more upbeat than the decade of the 1970s. I always love the 80s Americana but this song hits a little closer to home. In the UK, we've been having our own share of troubles for some time so it's easy to identify with this one. Love from one Red, White and Blue nation to another.

Lyrics!
One year closer to my death
I still haven't found what I'm looking for yet
It's not big blue eyes and long blonde hair
It's not a million dollars or a secret prayer
Another year asleep under the spell
Sometimes it's hard to remember 'cause you wear it so well
Made my home in the underground
'Cause nothing grows in the wasteland now
Are we just too easily pleased
Here with our pundits and sages
Witty and pretty and shitty and high
Almost getting by
Almost getting by
I'm ready to live my life again
Like there's a chance worth taking
I'm ready to love you like I can
Like my heart's not breaking
Wherever you are
Wherever you are
Red, white, and bruised
I'll keep waiting
But the missing hero is you
Broke down on the 101
Just bad luck believers blinded by the sun
We chased our dreams like you taught us how
But nothing grows in the wasteland now
Are we just too easily pleased
Here with our pundits and sages
Witty and pretty and shitty and high
Almost getting by
Almost getting by
I'm ready to live my life again
Like there's a chance worth taking
I'm ready to love you like I can
Like my heart's not breaking
Wherever you are
Wherever you are
Red, white, and bruised
I'll keep waiting
But the missing hero is you
I'm ready to live my life again
Like there's a chance worth taking
Ready to love you like I can
Like my heart's not breaking

3 seconds in and it successfully nails The Police, A Flock of Seagulls and Duran Duran vibes. Well done!
Exactly! All I can think is of Sting and the Police.

The Midnight literally just opened a doorway to the 80's. Or....they really are time travelers! Love this, love your music.

I love the nod to Don't Stand so Close to Me at the end
