I own the exact same guitar. The pickups are marginal. I replaced mine with Gibson Classic 57's. That single thing brought this guitar to life. I play this guitar more than my 1997 PRS Custom 25. I was gonna buy a Gibson ES-339, now I don't have to. I really enjoy playing this guitar & when people hear it they can't believe it's a Ibanez.

I own the new Ibanez 2019 Artcore AM93 Expressionist Macassar Ebony Semi Hollow Guitar. Same guitar as this one. Just a different finish. It's the best purchase I've ever made. It's the most versatile electric I've ever owned. You can't beat it for the money. I may get another one in a different finish. Yes. I do love this model that much.

I bought this guitar and I love it. The neck is the best neck shape (for me) that I have ever felt.It just feels so comfortable. The pickups are great and this thing really does have a great tone, considering it's price point. Had trouble with the flimsy jack socket. It basically cracked the surrounding lacquer so I fitted a brass plate version. Nice and solid now. Love this guitar.

Finally found an AM93 locally after looking for a few months and am going to look at and play it tonight. This review has been a major influence in my seeking-out of this model. I played an AS73 a few weeks ago and was a bit let down, it wasn’t as intuitive to play as I would have liked, and it felt extremely light and almost “too hollow,” if that makes sense.
If the AM93 plays and feels how I hope it does, I’m definitely going to be making an offer. Thanks again, Marlon.

I own this guitar too. I was looking for a versatile guitar capable of delivering a few different sounds, from Funk stroking to some smooth guitar octaves and this guitar really delivers. Get the right amp and you've got a really good guitar than can stand up in many different music genres. I also wanted a more smaller body guitar. The Epiphones just didn't have the tone that I wanted. The tone on this is nice and warm when needed.

Great review and guitar. I’ve had one for a couple years and love it still, got it used at GC for $400 . Great tone and super comfortable and easy to play. I play mine through a modded blues Jr with cannabis Rex speaker, and typically through an Alpha pedal from Carmedon electronics (new company here in FL check em out) .

These are great sounding, playing and looking guitars for the money, I have this one. Found it used in mint shape, tricked out w/OHSC at a local GC for only $420 before tax. They had even lost the original case indicated on the sales tag, and ordered me in a new one, no charge. If you are raised on Gibson like I was, you will find the neck comfortable and familiar IMHO. I have medium size hands and it just seems to play great to me.

Super nice guitar. I have 3 Ibanez semi hollow body guitars. Only my AS 80 has Super 58s, and it sounds the best. But my other 2 have chunky necks with the volutes which I prefer over the super fast neck of the AS 80, which doesn't have a volute. I wanted a AM 93 too, but decided to be content with all my other guitars. Nice review, you get some nice sounds out of yours!

Nice Job Marlon. I've had my eye on the AS93, but I think I'm leaning towards the AM93. I'm thinking the slimmer boys might be a bit more comfortable. Sounds like she has a really sweet sound for funk and R&B, and is quite a beautiful guitar also.

I picked up an old Artcore AS73 (the basic model) for $269 and I've been very impressed with it, even tho it doesn't have the high-end Super 58 pickups. But I just love how I'm able to rest my palm on the bridge in such a way that gives my picking more precision. The whole thing just feels right. Nothing too extreme. The neck is neither too skinny or thick. And it's nice and glossy. None of that faux aging, wornout, matt finish. However, if I had two grand to burn, I'd probably go with the Yamaha SA2200!

    • @MarlonGibbons
      @MarlonGibbons  4 года назад +2

That's awesome. Sounds like you did well for $269. I tried a lot of semi-hollows and funny enough, not of them "felt right" as you said.. this was a big gamble because I bought sheerly on recommendations and reviews... I wasn't disappointed. It's still my fav to play live. And yes, the SA2200 is a beautiful guitar!!

This guitar with a Vox is an incredible sound. Wasn't too crazy about how it paired with the blackfaces but I found it was great with Marshalls as well as my Sunn. For the value I haven't been able to find another guitar that covers as much sonic ground and sounds as good. I did find it neck heavy but I primarily play a Tele so yeah... Also if you can just replace the nut and machine heads it's a $1200+ guitar overnight.

Hey Anthony, glad you like yours as well. Now that I've had it for a few months with several gigs and sessions on it, I love it even more. Interesting about the Marshall & Blackface, I've not used it on anything other than a small Vox, a 5w Huges & Kettner, and DI to my system through a nice tube-pre. Sonic ground is right! Hey there! While I don't own any other HB guitars.. I am currently working on a project, where I plan to use several different guitars with the vox. Having used this amp so much more since the posting of this video... I can say, I still love the amp, my only crisitsm (and it's subjective) is that given it's small speaker, it doesn't have enough low end on my live gigs. Even when mic'd. I mostly do solo, so I can't rely on a bass player. But IMHO, it rocks in the studio. I'll be featuring it more in future videos. thanks for watching.

That's a great question, I can't find that spec anywhere. I'll weigh it myself and get back to you.

The guitar sounder better,...IMO ..without any Reverb.

This wouldn't be my choice of verb if recording or live, so I sort of agree. Also depending on what I'm playing, perhaps no reverb at all. Thanks for taking the time, Denis!

Recorded on a shitty phone, seriously? Voice is hardly audible, guitar amp is picked up via room resonances/reflections.

It's not a good excuse but I was pretty new to RUclips almost 4yrs ago. Thanks for taking the time just the same. I wish you the best.

Some helpful info but just way too much gassing about non-essential stuff. You don't start even playing til 4.5 minutes in. Could have done a much better and more direct review in a few minutes without all the rambling at the start.

Hey man, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. I'll keep your points in mind on the next review. Reviewing gear and RUclips in general, is a work in progress, so I appreciate the feedback.

Too much talking ...... if you want to demostrade the sound of this guitar, just play, play, play. Don't talk all the time

The title reads "Review" of the Ibanez Artcore, AM93. ; ) Thanks for watching, just the same though.

Disagree entirely. You have an excellent combination of talking and playing. Some people talk too much but not you. You're right to the point
