oh hey! so i used to be a food hygiene officer and i was assigned to do all 100+ stalls at hong lim center, chinatown. the whole place is one of the cleanest hawker centers there is and i especially remember eddy being so kind ^__^ he offered me a free late lunch but i refused as it was during the pandemic and wouldnt want him to lose money. another stall that was super popular but still very humble were some curry stalls near the front on the second floor.
@@strictlydumpling oh how lovely to get a reply! may i recommend haig rd market and food center the next time you come to singapore? it has a lot of malay and indian cuisines, plus a cantonese cuisine stall operated by a former 5 star chef from hong kong (it's called chef chik, #01-36) best you go before the lunch rush though!
These recent Singapore videos remind me of the Mikey Chen I first started watching a number of years ago. It's like a return to the classic Mikey that I know and love - just random great food and lots of excitement. My wife and I are heading to Singapore next month. I can't wait! Keep these great videos coming. If you get a chance head to Balestier Road and check out all the great food places there.
I can say myself, i was in Singapore 2018-2019 and Chinatown was the best, really good tasty and cheap food around there! Can't wait to go again on a tour there!
Love Singapore, been there about 6 or 7 times with the USN, USS Enterprise 1971 to 1975. Outside of North AMerica, my favorite place on the planet. At least back then.
I really want to visit Singapore after watching all the videos Mikey did, and also have few friends down there as well. Thanks for another great video! :D
just came home in the netherlands from singapore, jakarta and bali.. pff I miss asia already. what a wonderful continental it is with tons of delicious food experiences!
I always love watching your videos late at night Mikey , it can be scary at times though. It awakens the midnight munchie monster inside my stomach haha.
I've lived in Singapore for 28 years, had most of the food reviewed in this video, but Mikey makes it look so good that I wanna just run over and get myself more of it!!
Still knocking it out of the park Mickey, really enjoyed listening to your squeal of delight when you put the pound bun in your mouth, love to you and Mrs C hope everything in your life is fantastic and love love love what you do XXXX
I never cease to be amazed by your ability to absorb such quantities of food and ability of your stomach to digest everything. Your videos have now become an almost daily ritual for me before eating, to went my appetite 🙂 (I'm on the OMAD diet)
Hello Mike great video that Mala spaghetti looked delicious and that earl grey tea tart looked crispy and delicious. Thank you Mike these videos are awesome. That unagi donburi looked delicious.
I've booked myself in a hotel right next to this hawker area in Chinatown for a trip. I wish I could eat as much as Mike though. A bun like that would stop me. I liked seeing the French fusion stall too. I'll be looking for some things that a little different (along with classics from the area).
You know the person is a foodie when one visits the local famous hawker centre. That's where the best food are.. honestly, many deserve the Michelin stars.
i am so amazed how you managed to find all these great food of so much variety which many of us who stay here have not even tried or even know they exist ! ;p & everything you ate tasted soo good ?? :D
I really hope you didn’t leave Singapore without trying the other half of their cuisine, the blend of Malay-Indian dishes. I haven’t seen you try a single dish that isn’t Chinese or Japanese. Not that I don’t enjoy these videos but Singapore has so much to offer and much of the western world isn’t as familiar with Malaysian food as it is with Chinese. It’d be nice to have more diversity in food choices that you share to the channel.
With your recent (well, at least on my timeline!) vids about eating around Singapore, I think I might need to plan an 'eating holiday' there very soon!
Thanks for turning me on to the Athletic Greens Mike! After only a month I can tell it's working, your discount is generous as well. Many of my former coworkers are in Singapore, would have loved to visit them at some point.
hey mike! You should try out the main Man Man Unagi store at tanjong pagar! You can see the live eels in person and there might be fresh wasabi to grind too!
These street food experiences just keep going on & on, and continue to be interesting! There always seems to be one or two unusual dishes or hawkers to try! It seems that there is an endless supply! I don't know if one week will be enough time to hit just the highlights? That duck confit looked yummy!
Mike put the Cameras outside 30 min before filming (taking then into an area with AC will screw this up) also anti fogging wipes it happen because the cameras are cold and the atmosphere is warm and wet
Im super excited and will be traveling to Singapore in couple of weeks for few days. Im very overwhelm with all the suggestion. What must we eat and where for limited days in Singapore? thanks..
Did anyone else see a random cut at the time stamp 1:34 - 1:36, not gonna lie at first I thought I was tripping😂, I'd be a fun game to to make these and then the person who first spots it gets to (for example tell you what or where to eat next).
Hey Mike & Christine. If she traveling with you... Do enjoy. U seem to be enjoying it. Especially the ramen, I know you love, live 🐏 Have a blessed day Mike... 🐞😋❤️
I dunno if it would affect the clarity on a camera, but on my glasses I can put a tiny bit of shaving cream (not gel) on them and wipe it off to make them anti-fog. It doest affect the lenses at all and works a charm. Just a thought.
Unagi is probably the best kept secret in Japanese cuisine. I would chose this dish over sushi or wagyu steak any day. Contrary to what you would imagine, it is the least fishiest tasting fish, when grilled Japanese style. You don’t want a fusion style for Unagi, just stick to traditional Japanese grilling with sweet tare sauce and Japanese peppercorn sansho. If you check out major western RUclipsrs that live in Japan, almost all of them will tell you that this is the most underrated Japanese food. It’s expensive, but totally worth it.
Mikey I love to see u eat. U always have such a huge smile on ur face like food that u are eating is the best thing in the whole world. Would I place a bet if u had to choose going out with Christine or going to an awesome Asian restaurant? Nope 👎🏾
hey mikey, you should try out a traditional dessert place at fortune centre. the shop goes by the name of yat ka yan, 一家人! would love to see your reviews on that place! also would love to see you having collabs with our local competitive eater, zermatt neo!
Hello Mike, it’ll be great if you can do food reviews by the “area” or towns in Singapore; kinda like when you do Flushings or Queens food tours! I’d love to take you around Yishun, jokingly referred to as the most dangerous area in Singapore 😆😆 (of course no area in Singapore is unsafe!). You will be AMAZED at the crazily good food & hidden gems around my neighbourhood, for ridiculously affordable prices! 😄😄
Try block 16 bedok south hill street char kway tiao. Think that's better than the one in Chinatown. Love to try eddy western though didn't know about it though been there many times

I think Mike uploads more videos than any other food blogger, it probably helps that he eats 20 times as much as the regular person.

Good to know that there are gracious Singaporeans around, especially when lunch hour can be pretty tight for office workers.
I know if it were me that would’ve been a complete culture shock being a New Yorker. It’s the complete opposite here. Dog eat dog world
especially AFTER he has already got the food. Imagine trying to find a table with a tray of food.
When you were eating that pork and beef bun; I wish I was you eating it. You made it look so good 😊
