    Hi I live in the Dr. Phillips area in Orlando. It’s very nice and all the conveniences are just around the corner. No more Disney for us. It does get old after a few years. We love when our guests go, but we prefer to stay home. We get the fireworks every night from Disney, Sea World, and Universal. Yes the traffic is getting worse by the day but we are not ever moving again. We love our home and neighbors. You will learn to adjust to the heat. You will go out early to run errands! Hope you enjoy Florida!

    Your moved really resonated with me. Like you I recently moved from my home of 17 years that I built and absolutely loved. It was for my husbands job as we are also moving towards retirement. I lost my dad around the same time as we moved from our home, friends etc. I also retired early from my career to make the move. We are in a temporary housing situation ( 2 years so far- 1 to go) until with hopefully make our final move. Again like you our middle child moved with us to be near family. I am similar in age to you and have alway had the “ bloom were you are planted” philosophy. But not going to lie this move was definitely the hardest. I wish you the best and thanks for sharing your journey.

    Really enjoyed hearing your take on Florida so far. We have been here for almost 2 years and there are definitely positives and negatives. Winters are amazing. Summers not so much. But the thing I miss the most is really fall. We decided last year to plan for some extended vacations in the fall somewhere where we can experience the beautiful foliage (and sweater weather). Aside from that, like you, this is a journey and not a destination. Enjoy the sunshine and blue skies and maybe we can meet up one day at cocoa beach. I’ve been wanting to check that out! Welcome and cheers to new adventures! ❤

People think it’s a frozen tundra here and that is so far from the truth! I have similar thoughts about Florida as you do….hot, humid, muggy but like you said it’s not fair to think that way unless you’ve actually experienced it (just like how people think of Chicago…not fair lol!) I have been following you for several years. In the beginning it was all about LVs and purse collections and believe me I spent a ton! You’re a very good influencer… Now… I watch you and I sense a different connection… more about life and transitions and the human journey. I’m constantly amazed at our commonality. Love of purses lol, death of both parents within a year recently, gestational diabetes during pregnancy, and a grand dog! I had a dog also named Gracie who passed recently. It’s just these little things that keep me amazed. You moved from a place you loved and I did too 4 yrs ago. I’m seeing you shine even thru the changes and I want you to know that now I don’t think of you as an influencer but as a inspiration. I do hope you like winter garden or Clermont as my dad used to live in those areas before moving back to Texas. They are beautiful areas. HI, it’s Laura from Tx. Good luck on finding a new home. Fl and Tx we get what we call snowbirds or winter Texans. Fl is like another melting pot, especially in the Miami area. If you get a chance drive or fly over to Destin, the Emerald coast area. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Now that’s a dream nice retirement spot for us or own a vacation home.
    For the Disney restaurants start searching 24-48 hours before a day you want because that’s when you will find open spots for cancellations. Folks will get charged if they don’t cancel. I got lucky and scored a last minute dinner reservation at the Grand Floridian on our last night when we visited in November.
    And big tip…. Be sure to reserve a spot for dinner there come the holidays when it’s decorated for Christmas and you can see their huge life size gingerbread house. It’s a mini bakery and they sell a ton of treats and a small gingerbread house you can use as a centerpiece. (I may have posted pics of it on my RUclips channel for the video I did on Lily loves Disney). It’s a must see that gingerbread house. If I had more room in my luggage I would have brought home a house. But now I know for next time. LOL
    I’m sure you will adjust to Fl nicely. You can always plan a trip to a cold place when you miss the snow. 😊

    Is it worth buying a house if its so short term? Could you see yourself renting for 7yrs?

    • @JustJennifer
      @JustJennifer  Год назад +1

      Hi Emily! We have looked into long term renting, house or apartment, etc. The rent prices are very high for what you get and are subject to go up every year. (example- our current furnished 3 bedroom apartment is $8000/mo.) Also, we have our Illinois house items in climate controlled storage ($1800/mo). So, if we rented somewhere big enough to contain our house items in order to save the storage costs, it would be extremely expensive. We are hoping to find a house that will appreciate in cost so we will hopefully make money on the time here rather than spending $75-100k a year on rent that we don't get back in equity. I guess only time will tell if we are making the right decision.

      Yes, it is a gorgeous area! However, there is only one house for sale there currently. That is the problem with many of the areas we like.... So little on the market to choose from.

    Hi, I just wanted to give you a couple of suggestions. Golden Oaks is right there and they have beautiful houses there. I know someone that lives there and also a realtor her name is Tiffany Pantozza at align real estate. I think that would be a good match. I’m sure you’ve got a realtor but you know she really really knows the area very well and is in high end purchasing and sells and things like that. Also, her husband is a former football player lol.

    Thanks for the update! Curious about the Disney World passes. Every Florida resident gets a pass? Is there an annual charge? Thanks for any info 😊

      Hi! Florida residents have to opportunity to purchase an annual Pixie Pass ($399). If you go to a Disney park more than 3 times in a year, it pays for itself. It has some blackout dates and a few restrictions...but they all work out perfectly for our needs.
