    I picked up this camera and a 22mm lens, took it on a holiday - amazing, low light with the 22mm is great

      Absolutely! This camera is such a steal! Plus that lens is a total miracle. Thinking twice about even upgrading the lens or just treating it as a fixed lens lol

    In 2019 when Canon released the M200 they had a discount for the M100 + EF-M 22mmf2 as a set in their online shop. I was looking for a 22mm for my M50 and got the camera and the lens for less than 380,- EUR (similar price in Dollars) brand new. It's such a fun camera with great picture quality. I got a EF-M 55-200mm lens and a 15-45mm kit lens later. Combined with the EF adapter it's really versatile and so easy to use.

      Oh yeah? That's awesome! How does it feel compared to your previous camera? Or is this your first one?

      @Iven! It all depends on what you're using now and what you intend to do with your new camera/phone. If you're using an iPhone 11, don't upgrade because the image is gonna look similar. If you plan on getting a camera like this, you need to understand that although it is light and tiny, it's still something extra to bring around. I use this camera as a fun creative outlet instead of my phone because I like to have time dedicated to a single task. I also enjoy the image quality from this because I've grown out of the camera phone look though I still take a lot of photos on my phone ;)

    As a m series owner for almost two years its worth it....this is the best for street photography as it's small and the auto focus is legit...and don't forget get a speed booster

    • @walter_fernandez
      @walter_fernandez  Год назад

      Exactly! So much value in a camera and lens that can almost fit anywhere! Speed booster I haven't gotten around to try yet. Is it worth it in your opinion?

    I have bought an original Canon m10 case very cheap than has built in grip it fits m100 just fine and it is great! Also there are adhesive grips that are probably even better because they don't block the ports like a case does.

    Hi Walter, is it worth it to upgrade lens? from kit lens 15-45mm to 22mm f2?
    im start to do street photo, early user. or basic lens kit is enough?
    Thankss.

      what is the big difference actuallly?

    • @walter_fernandez
      @walter_fernandez  Год назад +1

      My suggestion is probably to take your kit lens out on a couple of photo walks and keep your kit lens strictly at 22mm. If you like the experience, then absolutely go for it. The 22mm lens is mega sharp, tiny, cheap, and much better in low light compared to the kit lens but you do sacrifice the ability to zoom in and out. I made a video about it a while ago if you’re interested in checking it out! Highly recommended lens!

    Do I need to use an adapter to mount other lens? I have a canon m100 and it's my first camera so I want to know what lens to buy for upgrade, btw I notice that's not a kit lens mounted on your camera here

    • @walter_fernandez
      @walter_fernandez  2 года назад +7

      Lots to unpack here! I assume you have the 15-45mm kit lens? I bought the camera 2nd hand without the kits lens. There are 3 upgrade paths I see with this camera :
      1. Better quality EF-M lenses - Canon EF-M 22mm f2 (GET THIS! It's great and cheap), Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4, some great Viltrox and Sigma lenses etc. Cons to these lenses are that if you ever switch to a different camera system like the EF or RF or another brand like Sony or Fuji, you can't use these lenses anymore. But these lenses work great with the M100's fantastic autofocus system.
      2. Higher end EF and EF-S lenses - Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 (great cheap lens), Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8, Canon EF 85mm f/1.8, Canon L series lenses etc. Cons to these lenses are that they usually cause the camera to feel really front heavy as you need an adaptor and EF lenses tend to be larger. Massive advantage is if you ever switch to EF cameras, EF (not EF-S lenses) are able to be used on full frame EF cameras as well as RF cameras. They'll even work on Sony cameras.
      3. Vintage lenses - Canon FD 50mm f/1.4, Canon FD 24mm f/2.8, Canon FL 35mm f/2.5, Canon FD 70-210 f/4, other vintage lenses from Nikon, Leica, Minolta, Voitlanger etc etc. One massive con with these lenses are that you lose autofocus because these are manual lenses. Some of them also weigh a ton + the adaptor makes them super front heavy. The pros however are the image quality of these lenses. Some of them are really good and some are just okay but most of them add great character into your images. Also, depending on your luck and which lenses you plan to buy, You might be able to snag a set of Canon FD primes for really cheap.
      Hope this answers your question! I'm in love with the M system even though it seems they've put this mount to rest. I can only imagine it being good news for me as I foresee prices of M mount lenses going down in the near future. Some of the existing lenses perfectly suit my needs. When I do professional shoots I tend to use newer RF cameras like the R, R5 and R6. But for travel/everyday carry camera system, I absolutely love the M system!

    Can u use efs 24mm pancake lens with canon m100?

    • @walter_fernandez
      @walter_fernandez  Год назад +1

      Absolutely! It's made for crop sensor Canon cameras. All you need is an EF-EOS M adaptor.
      Though I would honestly turn you away from that and look at the Canon EF-M 22mm f2 instead. Just a bit more expensive but it's just as sharp, it's 1 stop brighter which allows for shallower depth of field, it's uses the native EF-M mount which means no adaptors needed, smaller and lighter (because no adaptor) which goes well with the small form factor of the M100 :) Hope this helps!

    Hi Fernandez. Impress with your video on the introducing of canon M100. I am having problem taking food photo close up ( around 5cm close ). Do you face such problem & how you overcome it. Welcome any one onboard to advise me. Thanks in advance

      @walter_fernandez  2 года назад +1

      Hi! Thank you so much! :) Okay so for close up, the term you're looking for is called "macro photography". This is more of a lens thing than it is a camera issue. Macro lenses have the ability to focus closer than normal lenses which is ideal for your situation. However, you can look for some macro lens filters, macro extension tubes, using the lens in reverse, or even disconnecting the lens to get a closer focussing distance. Searching those terms should help you out a lot! :) Let me know if you need more clarification!
