Thanks for all the kind words everyone, this has been a labor of love 18 months in the making. What do you think about the cable routing on the seat tube? Is it worth an extra 20mm of dropper post insertion to have a more complex initial cable routing?
I'll play the role of dissenter, but I'm not sure it would be to me. No matter the bike, I think (for my height) that 180mm of drop is plenty. Plus do you really need that much drop for a bike that is designed for green/blue trails?
@@martyarnwineyes. Personally I’ll take every mm i can get. I’m 5’ 7’ and I’ve crammed a 210 in my bikes. the lower I can get the seat out of the way for manuals the better
SOLD!! Got it in the Hardtail Party Sedona livery of course. Super excited!! And now the waiting… and the build considerations. I’m a Patron so I’ll likely come to you with questions at some point. Well done!
I can't wait to get on this bike my friend. It looks and sounds like it is right up my alley for the more calm rides. Love what you're doing and I pray daily your health get better ❤
Stanton Switchback MK1 rider here for 8 years. I'm so stoked of this collaboration. The result is absolutely awesome. What an achievement. Bravo!!!! :)
Oh wow!!! A great colaboration of US-and-Brit-Enthusiasts. Got to get one of these frames shipped to me in Germany. All the best to you, keep on going Steve!
Man, I absolutely love how that looks! Also, the way the bottom bracket was set back while still having a straight seat tube to get more dropper clearance is pretty trick! Great job!
I saw this bike in a gmbn video from sea otter and it catched my eyes imediately. Today I just stumbled over Stanton website and looked on this. I was like yeah, I would like to see a video from you presenting it. I came home and there it was on youtube😅 it looks like a bike I would buy and keep forever, ride it till it falls apart. 😂 great stuff!
Love the colors on that one, with the tan wall tires and 5Dev cranks! 😍 I noticed that seat tube angle right away, but I know you'll have that squared away. 🤙🏻
I love seeing your progression in frame design. All the attention to details and striving to make improvements on every iteration make me want this bike even more. I know it’s going to be a solid ride!
Dude. I think you just designed my ideal play bike. I'm in the market for a hardtail to complement my long travel enduro (Slash) that's been muting my local trails for all the reasons you stated. I have a background in BMX and spent my teenage years jibbing off random stuff around town. I am also 5'4" with a 28in inseam, so you are so talking my language. I will be subbing to the Patreon to further pick your brain!
You have to be proud of that work Steve! The passion and knowledge reflect on that Sedona bike! You influence me to push "enter" for a Steely RSD MC...and you still continue to...KeepOnRollin'! 😈🤙
This new “Sedona” signature bike looks and sounds awesome. What’s the frame weight compared to the Sherpa? I am also sharing my 2-cents experience as a Sherpa owner. In my area, we have lots of sticky mud (winter and farm watering); this mud gets stuck on the rear bridge above the tire. Mud and rocks also get stuck on and in the area near the bottom bracket (in front of the rear tire). On my Sherpa, as the metal is not round and has cut-outs, it hurt the paint, and rust is starting. I hope you give it some thought before going into production.
I JUST got a frame that I'm really happy with but brother these geo numbers are so sick and i wish i saw this sooner. The industry needs more people like you pushing bikes like this.
Very few of us live in the Rockies or the Alps. It seems the industry tend to develop bikes for very gnarly terrain. This is a beautiful bike! I hope I can afford it. 😘
Rolling on gen 3 Sherpa that I will never ever give up! Can't say enough. Wish I could talk myself into another Stanton but don't think this is enough departure to have both... Perhaps SS maybe
This sounds like a ripper of a frame and could make a really fun SS!!! Personally, I think I'd rather have the port on the bottom of the seat tube for the dropper routing.....but if it comes with a string already routed, not that big of a hassle.
For inserting the string for the dropper cable: Maybe attach a small weight (like a needle) at the end of the string, insert the string from the front and then turn the frame upside down once the string reaches the bottom bracket? Beautiful bike btw.!
I tried that. It was too hard to get it to round the corner and make it in the hole in the DT. The vacuum worked great once the string was through the seat tube into the dt
Ok I know Kashima is never necessary.. but this bike would look sick with a Kashima fork n dropper. Just sayin! That’s a pretty dope frame for the money too
Gorgeous first look, what a bike!!! Craftsmanship looks fantastic steel is real with this one no doubt!!! Great job 👍 Steve, looking forward to the ride review and what shuttle changes you want made on the production model!!!
I love this, especially the color and the high stack. I'm a proud UK switch9er owner...the gen4 is now longer so it's good to see this available in more size options.
I’m 5’4” rider and ride a 15” GT hardtail. I’ve hoped it up with Halo and fox. I love her. And a loved the bit about only finding a few bike you can stand over. Yes that is me too. I can’t I can’t even reach the hot sauce from the to of the cupboard. Awesome vid wicked looking frame.
Many improvements in the frames are thanks to the suggestions and reviews of this channel, for example not interrupting the seat tube with bottle holder screws, and more separated chainstays for wide tires.
Dan let me choose everything about this frame, including where the tubes intersected, where the bosses were, and where the cable ties landed. After riding over 100 modern hardtails, i have a pretty good idea about what the ideal hardtail should have.
Completely agree on 31.6 seat tube choice! All Cotic’s (or at least all of mine!) are 31.6 and it just allows frame swaps between bikes to be so much easier. Personally the dropper cable install would be a big turn-off for me, I’d rather lose some insertion to be honest in exchange for an easy build. The bike looks epic in that colour though 🤌
So sweet! A 320mn max insertion depth is crazy on a little bike like that. A OneUp 240 has a lower shaft length of just under 340 if I recall correctly, so you’d probably have room to include something to help route dropper cables through without inhibiting max insertion too badly.
Beautiful Frame, Would love to hear your take on Carbon rims on quality steel frames like the Stanton. I have a Switch9er Gen3 and its something so special and fits me like a glove. Thank you for your work!
9Point8 has a dropper head so you can have 25mm of set back or set forward. That would steepen the seatube up. It may look a little funny, though. I use their setback head.
Looks great! I like the revised water bottle mounts on the seat tube. The ones on my gen 3 Sherpa really limit seat tube insertion. Also nice to see the dropper insert position on the side of the down tube and not on the bottom.
Hi. Hope you’re good. Thanks a lot for this one and congratulations for this frame. A question please what is the size of the wheels you used to complete the bike ? Thank you. Best regards.
The bike doesn't need to come pre wired for a dropper but if there was string pre routed in the frame that would be super helpful for those of us with "aging vision".
Damn this looks so perfect for my riding. I have a Ragely BigAl '22 now but I don't need the 140mm, this would balance out a bit better. Too bad I'm not able to jump into this first batch and get that sweet limited 70's toyota paintjob.
It's what I was looking for, something like taking my dirt and street bike from 10 years ago to the mountains. I don't need it anymore, but before I would have wondered if it's possible to do a barspin without the wheel hitting the pedal? It looks similar to the Mutant and Dartmoor frames I used to have on my 26".
This is the bike I needed. I am short and do not like the new geometry. I could not replace my 14 slash with a new one because I was in between sizes and hated it. My meta ht ohlins took some time to get use to the new geo. My paradox is a tad long too
Mhm, so 3 strings: 1st from top of st to bb holes 2nd from headtube port to bb holes 3rd (that we will tie to actual dropper cable) we just tie third string with 1st and 2nd, pull 1st and 2nd done!
Sick! I just shared this video with a friend who's looking for a bike just like that. Btw, you're referring to the Fox Performance (not performance elite), right? I'm looking for a light 130mm fork for my latest hardtail build. I have you to thank for putting Manzanita Cycles on my radar! I just got one last month.
Awesome looking bike!! Sounds like it will be fun to ride!! I was actually looking at getting a Roscoe 9 but after seeing this I might just hold off and order your fame and build my own. Do you happen to know how the frame sizing relates to rider height or inseam? I can't seem to find any correlation on the website. TIA!
With so much dripper available on all sizes, j tend not to size with height or inseam. I tend to recommend people size based on reach (which often correlates to torso length)
Thanks for all the kind words everyone, this has been a labor of love 18 months in the making.
What do you think about the cable routing on the seat tube? Is it worth an extra 20mm of dropper post insertion to have a more complex initial cable routing?
Totally worth it, especially for short legged people. Looks like a fantastic design and beautiful too, congrats!
This super long insertion sets it apart from other frames at this size - so I think it's worth the hassle of getting the cable through.
Absolutely!
I'll play the role of dissenter, but I'm not sure it would be to me. No matter the bike, I think (for my height) that 180mm of drop is plenty. Plus do you really need that much drop for a bike that is designed for green/blue trails?

That colorway is sick! Ode to the 70s. Beautiful bike.
Lead time is about 6 months landed to USA as of 5/15/24 according to Dan (Stanton) when I emailed in for those wondering.
You and Dan hit a home run with your new bike! Design looks great. Love the 70s vibes on the build.
Thanks Nick, that's high praise coming from you
This is a work of art. Instantly want one!
SOLD!! Got it in the Hardtail Party Sedona livery of course. Super excited!! And now the waiting… and the build considerations. I’m a Patron so I’ll likely come to you with questions at some point. Well done!
Congrats! Such a killer paint job, you're going to love it.

Thank you so much
Stanton Switchback MK1 rider here for 8 years. I'm so stoked of this collaboration. The result is absolutely awesome. What an achievement. Bravo!!!! :)
Where hardtails are best! Couldn't agree more. That's the way to ride. Looks incredible.
Oh wow!!! A great colaboration of US-and-Brit-Enthusiasts. Got to get one of these frames shipped to me in Germany. All the best to you, keep on going Steve!
So cool to see this and see Stanton back at it and making cool stuff after seemingly nearing the brink of death not so long ago. Love to see this!
Congratulations !! Wow it's crazy. And it means that frame will be available for the European market. Thanks you so much
Man, I absolutely love how that looks! Also, the way the bottom bracket was set back while still having a straight seat tube to get more dropper clearance is pretty trick! Great job!
Sweet collaboration Steve and Dan! Color-way is siiick! 🤤
More power to you Steve! Two signature hardtails (in two different metals) at once!

Hard tail,to keep the speed in check!
Perfect colorway, perfect hardtail, great work. That would look great hanging out of the back of a Toyota 4x4.
Congratulations Steve, I'm digging it Brother.......🤝🏾🇺🇸💪🏾🫡
The bike is beautiful 🤩. Those cranks look fantastic on it too.
Love the colors on that one, with the tan wall tires and 5Dev cranks! 😍 I noticed that seat tube angle right away, but I know you'll have that squared away. 🤙🏻
i noticed the long top tube and this made me wonder about seat angle.
I love seeing your progression in frame design. All the attention to details and striving to make improvements on every iteration make me want this bike even more. I know it’s going to be a solid ride!
Killer looking bike! I still think, adding the dropper port and making life easier is better then dealing with the string.
Yep.stunning.
Love the numbers on this. "Long" head tube, short seat tube, long top tube, angles. This is real good on paper.
bro! congrats!

Im absolutely thrilled with how it turned out.

Awesome. Can't wait for the ride review.

Thanks again for producing and showing us another amazing bike. It is really good looking. I would love to have one of the Stanton Sedona MTB'S!

Love the look of this frame! Looks like a bike that would work really well here in the Midwest.
Exactly!
Absolutely gorgeous, I'm riding a Chameleon right now, but when I have the funds to try steel - this will be it.

Very nice, I'm excited to learn more and how it compares to the Turner Nitrous as that is still the top of my list for getting a new hardtail.
I talk about that over on the patreon extended cut review.
Good to know Stanton is going to have sliding dropouts. I’ve been looking at their frames but I wanted something with longer chainstays.
Saw this was up for pre-order yesterday and was eagerly awaiting this video!
I really, really like it! The frame color is amazing! I am seriously thinking about ordering one.
Looks tasty. Cant wait to see one in the flesh. Well done Steve

The Toyota-ish brown orange stripes from the 80’s look cool

This looks so good Steve! I think I will be picking one up. :)
Looks stunning!! 🙌🏼🤩
Congratulations. 👌🏼
Dang, was looking at an Esker Japhy, but this has definitely thrown a wrench into my plans. Looks so good!
The japhy is a wonderful bike with a bit different flavor. My wife rides a ti japhy as her main hardtail. Wonderful nike, but way slacker than this.

That is a bloody lovely looking bike!
Nice project man. Congrats!
You can use the garbage disposal cleaner to route the string which is very flexible and small enough to fit through.
Cool, thanks for the suggestion. Ill have to research that a bit more.
Very cool! looking forward to the ride review
Looks beautiful! I hope it becomes a success!
Looks great! I like the revised water bottle mounts on the seat tube. The ones on my gen 3 Sherpa really limit seat tube insertion. Also nice to see the dropper insert position on the side of the down tube and not on the bottom.

Gorgeous bike. Oh man.
Looks sick, can't wait to hear the ride review
🤩. Curious how differently it rides compared to a sherpa
Apart from the head angle, the geo is quite different,.so it should be noticeable to almost everyone.

Cool colour way. ❤
Damn what a beauty!
Love it Steve. Just my style.
Beautiful frame. Congratulations!
What would be the consequences of putting a 140mm fork on it?
Get that seat tube angle closer to 76° and I am ordering one. Fingers crossed on production.
I agree, it needs to be 76*
@@hardtailparty Just hope the steeper seat tube doesn't mess up that super clean Top Tube to Chainstay

No, the width is the limiting factor, not the height (seat tube)
Switch9er, switchback, Sedona ?? Hmmm 🤔 thanks for making my decision harder
