Woodturning Plywood: Can It Be Beautiful?

- Welcome to today's woodturning project! After years of woodturning I finally got a new lathe. For the first project I decided to turn another plywood bowl. The project turned out pretty nice, thanks to the beautiful plywood patterns. I finished the bowl with Danish oil.

I made a groovy ring from plywood, great stuff plywood.

Hi the different plywoods are nice and they have nice grain and the patterns on the wood. I like the shape you came up with its cool, you have put a lot of hard work into putting this together well done. The pot is great I like the inside and outside. I like this project, I might use your idea as a future Turn. Plywood is used often in my shop. It is hard on sharp edges though

Tjeres a material called spectra ply thats colored plywood in all sorts of patterns. I really think you would get a kick out of using it. Maybe incorporate some of it with some more batural woods or something. This is by far the coolest jse of olywoof ive ever seen. Also compliments on an amazingly accurate glue up job. Really shows in the end result.

Are you able to roughly see what the end product will look like in your head when gluing the pieces together? I wasn't expecting the circles - it looks great!
I wasn't 100% sure, but I was definitely expecting the circles.

If only we could still get that 13 ply 3/4 inch Baltic Birch Plywood again ... (at a reasonable price)
Did you know what shape you will be carving before you started? Or did your idea change as you worked? BTW- your bowl is gorgeous!
Thanks! I had an idea for the shape. I just had to adjust it a little so that the circles would come out right.
