My car is paid off, roof over my head, food in my families stomachs, still go sometimes, and clothed. Dont let social media glorify all these things you dont need. live humbly, even when you start making more. And before someone tries to comment, yes, I am going to school for my BS (and im nearly done).
$900 a month that's clean...lol, Dave I love you but you honestly need to get in touch with reality of rental markets. In Atlanta anything sub $1000 is most likely going to be in A.) A not so great area, or B.) Somewhere that will be 20-30 miles away from your job and you'll spend 3-4 hours a day in traffic. Average rent for 1BR in Atlanta right now is around $1300-1400 a month. There is very high demand and most places that were even around $1000 even 20 miles out from the city are now jacking their rates up to $1200+ and are getting it at 99% occupied because so many people are moving here and there is a housing shortage.
It is expensive to live in Atlanta; she is right about the housing cost. If you want something decent in Atlanta, the rent is over $1,000.00. This is true for the metro-Atlanta area, period!
Briana Molina+ You either totally missed his point or ignored it. Incase you missed it, his point explicitly was that just because one makes a significant amount of money, doesn't mean they'll know how to manage it. Take football and basketball athletes for example; millionaires that'll be broke by 30
flyguy it doesn’t matter who makes more. It’s all about who keeps more than they make. She’s just simply not the brightest crayon in the box so she doesn’t need to handle the finances at all.
I make $90k, no wife or kids. It is hard if you want to live in a nice neighborhood and have a new car. Very hard if you add Student loans and house improvements.
It’s weird that I never had debt in my life. I am 32 and I have no rich family by any means. I am just smart with money and don’t run after shiny things. ☺️
So as an Atlantian and I hope she sees this the only way to pay less in rent is to rent from a private owner. Go to Trulia Zillow etc. the corporate owned apartments here in Atlanta are ridiculous.
Simple, she lives in Atlanta which means they live above their means. Period I’m from Atlanta, I’ve never seen so many “house poor” people in my life. Living in Lithonia around the corner from Kelly Price, but can’t afford to keep the gas/water on.
They're making a lot of money and paying very cheap rent for their income. Here in California, you'll get a 1 bedroom apartment or a studio. That would be in the cheapest city or Town. It's not funny, not sure why she's laughing. Doesn't sounds like she ready to changes.
The obvious problem is the American Education system. Why do we as Americans accept 70K in student loans is normal? 32K for two cars is not alot. The school debt is ridiculous.
Bernie Mat but you also probably would make way more than $30k in NYC. Also I paid $750-$775 for a room in Astoria from 2010-2015 and I’m sure it’s still possible if you find the right spot or move more inward in queens or Brooklyn. You just need roommates.
The problem with most people is that as soon as they start making more money, they start spending more money. It's the American way and people are comfortable with payments. I'm in the process of changing that mindset for myself...though I should've done it 20 years ago. I'd be in a much better financial place.

My husband is an ASE Master Auto Technician at a large dealership and you can get NICE cars all day long for under 10k. Mazda3, Mazda 6,Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, VW Jetta with 60-80k miles. You don't need car payments.
I wouldnt consider those nice cars but reliable ones those are decent everyday cars nothing more
It is sad people spend more than they make. For me the most I pay is condo. I don't spend money on anything else except condo.
You can definitely find something in Atlanta for $900 or less a month.
This message just changed me....
I make 39k a year, family of 5. and We still find a way to save. Its all in the mindset, income should be more than bills. If It doesnt, move states or do something different. That being said, im 24. My car is paid off, roof over my head, food in my families stomachs, still go sometimes, and clothed. Dont let social media glorify all these things you dont need. live humbly, even when you start making more. And before someone tries to comment, yes, I am going to school for my BS (and im nearly done).
It amazing how many people have medical debt in America. Holy cow! No matter how bad canada gets i’ve never worried about medical bills
This girl was cute hahaha, great interaction between these two
It is expensive to live in Atlanta; she is right about the housing cost. If you want something decent in Atlanta, the rent is over $1,000.00. This is true for the metro-Atlanta area, period!
She's not going to do anything
Here in Southern California rent is almost $2,000/month
U WUT M8? Yep lol garbage
U WUT M8? I’d rather be homeless and save that $2,000
Yes but you probably make a lot more than they do...
I wonder how much money's worth of classes, books, etc. Dave has given to desperate call-ins over the years... I really admire when he does this tbh
I'll bet it all that she runs the finances cuz she makes more.
Well that's his fault for not aiming higher in life like she did! She earned promotion.
Not really.. Depends what state you live in.
Good advice.
“Happy new year!”
Cool!
Last part had me dying. 90k on mold infested apartment and broke. Oh God
Simple, she lives in Atlanta which means they live above their means. Period I’m from Atlanta, I’ve never seen so many “house poor” people in my life. Living in Lithonia around the corner from Kelly Price, but can’t afford to keep the gas/water on.
Gotta love Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quit eating out, buying clothes, and toys. Make your own breakfast, lunch and dinner.
They're making a lot of money and paying very cheap rent for their income. Here in California, you'll get a 1 bedroom apartment or a studio. That would be in the cheapest city or Town. It's not funny, not sure why she's laughing. Doesn't sounds like she ready to changes.
I love it when Dave gets all excited
Get disgusted!
The obvious problem is the American Education system. Why do we as Americans accept 70K in student loans is normal? 32K for two cars is not alot. The school debt is ridiculous.
Bye bye, cars. The landlord has to get rid of the mold.
I make too much money to be this broke. This is the year I get my excrement together and WILL be debt free by the end of the year. No more for me.
I know that's RIGHT!!
You increased your income $40k in a year, you are a rock star honey and you don’t even know it.
904 for rent??? Unheard of In nyc... 😂😂 if you’re lucky you’ll rent a bedroom
Bernie Mat but you also probably would make way more than $30k in NYC. Also I paid $750-$775 for a room in Astoria from 2010-2015 and I’m sure it’s still possible if you find the right spot or move more inward in queens or Brooklyn. You just need roommates.
