To be honest, I didn’t think I would ever experience burnout…and i ended up going through it a lot sooner than I thought. I don’t really get why it’s not taken more seriously because the damage it can do on your mental state is pretty significant. Anyway, i hope my reflection on burnout is helpful!

I'm so glad you recognized your burnout and are in a better place. I experienced burnout at a massive scale because I went most of my life undiagnosed ADHD. Trying to put a square peg in a round hole all the time can lead to serious burnout. Took me about a year to make it through and it was hard work. Thanks for this video. You're awesome!

I remember working in a very toxic place that ultimately made me feel like I wasn’t a good doctor or even a good person.
I found it very difficult finding a therapist who can relate and understand the struggles being a doctor if they aren’t in that field or went through it themselves. Not having any colleagues my age or in a similar stage of life or career was very isolating. So I basically had no choice but to pull myself out of the hole with deep reflection and purposeful decision making. It was very important to really recognize I was not the problem and I wasn’t broken or a useless doctor. No amount of reassurance from anyone was going to help until I saw it and believed it for myself. There was more than burnout going on there, but much like how you showed here, I was only able to start thinking about all of that when I was (forcefully) put out of that environment.
Thanks for the very insightful video! Nobody talks about burnout in medical profession enough.

I’m an RN and have been burnt out for a long time now. I quit bedside and changed career paths (still using my license) but a year later I’m realizing all I did was reset the burnout clock. Again. I’ve been doing therapy for a few months now and it’s helped find what I actually want and being ok with giving up what I once thought I wanted, being a nurse. Still in the beginning stages of getting out of burnout but for the first time, I’m actually taking steps in the right direction instead of going back around full circle.

I recently discovered your channel as I went through numerous productivity and planning and bujo videos on youtube and one of yours popped up.
I’m watching all your work on loop, even re-watching some. Started setting up my bullet journal because after failing to use it consistently for more than 5 years, I finally found a set up suggestion that works for me!
Your videos are funny, genuine and very helpful. It’s relatable and actionable content unlike some channels where it just feels impossible to attain the levels of productivity they talk about. Its so hard core that you dont event want to start.
I wish you all the success with your channel and I already started sharing your videos with friends 😂

I read a book that totally changed my life and the way I treat my patients and myself now: Trauma Stewardship is an AMAZING book that talks about secondary trauma that happens as a result of being in “helping professions”, what trauma responses look like and how to work through them. The TEND Academy based out of Canada also has some really great resources for professionals who are responsible for taking care of other people. Burnout and compassion fatigue/empathic strain (we are trying to move away from CF because neurophysiologically, compassion is not an emotion we run out of) and burnout, which is even cooler! I give talks like this at PT conferences so I could talk about this stuff forever! THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO BABE!!!

awesome video !! I definitely experienced burnout last year but i didn’t understand how to combat it. I was miserable at my job in healthcare and post grad didn’t help my case. Things started to shift positively for me when I signed up for therapy and got to the root of my problems😅 (leaving the healthcare industry) woohooo 🎉 therapy. I got back into fitness and soccer. A year later my mindset has improved drastically and I am putting myself forward (wants, needs and desires) I can say i tackled burnout and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me ❤ I have a successful candle business coming soon @seven22studio, so I am happy and optimistic about my life. As I navigate my twenties (25 as of saturday) Ive learned you are the writer of this thing called life and nobody should ever tell you what you should do or become 🎉❤😊
