You are amazing, so proud of you! Glad you did not edit out my bald head appearance! I just glad to have a cameo.....Dad.
She really is! You must be very proud. I (a 42 year old professional) am learning so much from her. Ain't that just the best?
Congratulations Dad....👍
Yep. She rocks! Great content. Always very helpful
herrlich, endlich mal eine Frau die handwerklich sehr gut ist :-) schönes Video ,genauso hätte ich es auch gemacht ....super
Wow! You are a very talented young lady! I admit I will be sourcing help to figure out how to do the wiring. :D
Could I bother you for the measurements you finally went with for your rails and crossbar? …when you get a chance.. I think I’d like to order mine pre cut so I don’t mess them up! :D
@@disignscdn yeah I totally can get those to you once home from vacation! It’ll be no problem!
Thank you so much for your replies! Enjoy your vacation! :)
@@disignscdn you are very welcome! Thank you for being interested in my videos and what I do!
Hello again! So I have the dimensions for you!
So for the x axis(the base frame) you will need x2 37 11/16” rails
For the x axis carriage that the laser rides on you will need x1 39 6/16” rail
And for the y axis (the base frame) you’ll need x2 35 1/8”
Hope that helps!
Hi love the video you said V GROOVE Rail thats got me I'm new at this did you use c tube l_l type did you have to change any settings on the software etc that thing is Massive what are stove toppers lol also you said not shore in this video or the others lasers last a month that worried me does the air feed help the laser last longer T slots rails got it fantastic work
I've ordered a Ortur wait a month for it to come so cool thank you for all you advice 😎
All I changed in the settings was the size of the machine in machine setting and in the console section when u type $$ you have to change your machine dimensions. Stove toppers are thing that sit on top or over your stove so you can like put things on top of the stove when not in use, it’s like decoration. To make your laser last longer u don’t want to run it at 100% power. Yes air assist helps with cutting materials easier. Glad to help:) if u have any more questions let me know
You have a great time ahead of you, If you decide to Go forward with RUclips and electronics. You will have 1 Million subscribers in nö time.

What size belt tooth count. Great job!
Not really sure on that
Good job. I just got my 20w Laser Master 2, and I noticed that you used 5mm belts on your expansion. The belts on my Ortur measure 6mm in comparison. I also found that the 6mm are much stronger and harder to cut than the 5mm found on my 3D Printer. Should that matter?
Did you buy a rod and remove the old one and put a new one? The one at 7:33 that you are talking about.
Bought a new rod at menards
@@TimberWood.Customs you use the items from the old rod andp ut it on the bigger rod right? thanks
@@michealcroes3377 I used the rod holder karts but I bought a new rod
Just ordered a Master 2 Pro (with the shield thingy) and was looking to see how to make this as big as possible. How sick would a 4' x 8' be?
That would be sweet
I was wondering would cable chain work instead of the tubing? I thought about doing the same thing but have no room for it.
Yes definitely!
How did you get the machine to operate on the larger size? Did you have to modify the g-code or light burn to alter the x and y dimensions?
In light burn u go to file and machine settings and then u change the machine size. It’s super easy
@@TimberWood.Customs Thank you very much. I have been wanting to do the same to my old Ortur 20 watt. But I have been way to busy at my day job. Can't wait till vacation to catch up on projects.
Did you change your area on the software?
Yup! And just posted a video about it too!
Finally.. someone who upsized the cutter. I've been looking around for this.
How does the laser know it now has a larger area Does it need to be adjusted. Meaning in lightburn you pick what laser you have and it knows the work area for that laser. I'm confused. Maybe you could give classes step by step. I would love to make my Neje 20 W bigger It's only 6 x 6 inch working space. FYI I'm rounding 60 years old and I want to be you when I grow up. You are an inspringing woman. Thank you .
In light but u put in your dimensions of your cut area for example 400mmx 400mm. And when u move it know where it is at just like a 3D printer. It’s pretty simple
Does that make sense
❤️❤️❤️Atta girl! You Need to NOT breath the smoke kiddo🙏🏼. TOXIC
Genius! Great job! Parts to make it larger seem relatively cheap.
Hey Lidia, thanks for the vid. I have a MEJE 2s max (460mmx810mm) and I'm looking to make it 810*810 so only that Y axis is what I mean to increase. Did you have any issues telling the machine it's new size and Limits?
No
Wow!! you are very mechanically inclined, I just bought the ORTUR 2 master pro a few weeks ago and was thinking of doing the same thing to my laser before I build a enclosure. Thanks for the video and the links. Question? Are you still using it and happy with the modification you made to the laser? And did you replace that smaller rod?
Thanks again!
Great project, you did a fantastic job overcoming the issues 👍🏻
I am an engineer, BRAVO BRAVO!!! Your center rod issue... Cut the original rod into 2 short pieces and use a 1" carbon fiber tube in the middle, 3d print bushings to adapt the rod to the tube. hope that helps. Great vid, definitely warrior class sh%T!!!!
Oh good idea! I’ll try that!
Try using flexible cable track for the wire.
So awesome!! I am in the process of doing this upgrade to my Ortur as well. I also purchased the t-slot instead of v-slot extrusion (1000mm). Glad to know that it still works!! Thank you so much for this video. Still waiting on my NEJE 40W to get here as well. Excellent build, new supporter!!
Thank you! Glad I could help! Just to let you know with the T-slot especially on the X axis you might need to drill your X axis bracket holes a little bit more because your wheels will angle out a little bit more if that makes sense. Because they are T-slot and not V groove the wheels will not roll like they used to. It took me some a while to figure it out but I got it. If you need any extra help just let me know!
Great Job. It's good to see kids making stuff and gaining hands on skills.
How did you change working size in lightburn. Whenever I change size, it doesn't work
Check out my video specifically on that. Some people have had that problem so I made a separate video on it:) hope that helps!
For the cable you might fix a pulley to the ceiling, fix a rope to the cable guard and a weight on the other side. It should keep the cable up while allowing for movement in all directions.
I am in the middle of up grading my laser. I am having trouble replacing the rod on the x axis. How did you remove the rod and reinstall it?
Never mind I just figured it out.
Make a Big Zip tie whip to hold the cables. When I say big I mean 2' long from Harbor freight
Thanks!
Great video. Your screw movement has a potential of being a problem called screw whip but as long as you don't try a rapid movement too quickly it won't whip too much. You can fix that by getting a larger screw.
For the z wire loom I used a cross dowel in my cabinet that the wire loops around. I'll take some shots tomorrow.
And tapping the rails is easy with tapping drill bits. I picked up a set from harbor freight
Ya we had those taps then I broke them and it was late but I wanted to get it done so I improvised lol. And I did end up using bigger screws and not the ones that came with the original machine. Thanks for watching!
did you need to buy any wheels or anything or just use the ortur items on that machine. I am going to make one. thank you. But i will make it with the pro model as it is faster
Did t buy any wheels, just used the original ones
You make happen what most of us were dreaming about. What a genius!! Great incentive!!!
Thanks!
This is really impressive, i have a question for you. Do you think i should buy the Laser Master 2 Pro and make this upgrade ? Or is it waste of money and should i just get a slightly cheaper model and then upgrade the laser on it so i get something as least least as good as the Laser Master 2 Pro, i see those Ortur 400x400mm comes with different specs, not sure what to buy for doing this upgrade, can you please give me your best advise on this one ? Thanks.. :D
I’d get the laser master two pro the LF version which has air assist and then upgrade it to the big size, it’s a great laser with the safety features and the air assist makes it great
@@TimberWood.Customs Wow that's a great answer for me, so i will go ahead and order that one in a very close future, also the 20x20mm V slot profile, i will buy the 1000mm length. I will not build mine as big as 1000mm but maybe 800x800mm.. thank you very much for your answer :D
@@HearGear you are welcome!
@@TimberWood.Customs Do you think it would be possible to use the old frame from the Laser Master 2 Pro to build a little CNC mill, and using the New laster bigger frame to cut out the needed part in acrylic ? How thick do you think the acrylic should be for a CNC 400x400mm ? Thanks..
Not sure on that, I’m sure the rails would work but for the acrylic not sure.
What a great influence for young folks and young ladies. Very impressive that you made the machine, then made the machine bigger and really explain everything very well. You’ll have a million followers for sure. Keep them coming
Thank you!
I'm late to the game and only just found your video, I want to echo Eric's comment. My daughter loves to tinker but sometimes gets made fun of by her peers (14 yr olds). Great work mi project is the same I use 80/20 rails that is 20/40 and here is the good part I scale the laser from diode to CO2 60W and boy that was fun and work to good to be true size in power is what they charge big mula for so it can be change course not for everyone but for people like you and others we can make it happen and never is going to be 5k or more to expend I made mine whit less then 1000 and to mi own pase of expending great video
How do you get it to cut at least half the size because I did mine like that I just wanted to cut a little more than what it was
Go slower
Great Video!!! You are a rock star!
well done! you made this look easy! but I get the feeling it wasn't as straight forward as you made it.. im on the verge of getting my very first ortur lazer. and im really looking forward to it! and this is definately a future upgrade. btw the second link for thingiverse seems pretty dead :(

I did something similar, only those cables annoyed me, so I used straight belt cables. I added on the side of the x and y axis long boxes of cross section "U" made of 3 pvc plates. It has a much better positive effect on the nerves than hot chocolate :)~
Wow girlie.. you are so smart! This is exactly what I have been looking for!!! Great job!!!

@@TimberWood.Customs Do you happen to know anything about the FoxAlien Mega laser? I am wondering if the SculpfunS9 head will fit on that machine. So far I like the size of the base, but the head of the S9. I feel like for me being so new, instead of expanding immediately, start with as big as I can find. I really want to make wedding signs out of acrylic. Thanks so much!!!
@@melindagibson8606 I have never heard of that machine
You could 3D print a cable chain to tidy up the wires.
Great video. Keep it lit.
Hi, When you expand the X and y axis does the software LaserGRBL can show the large working area?
Thank you for making this video, very informative and educational. You are awesome :-) liked and subscribed.
You need a large workbench for these behemoth projects, whatever you do, don't get one off Pooch LOL, watching this has got me thinking about making a quick tool change for my MPCNC
by the way, I saw someone overcome the cable issue with a spring-loaded key cable attached to the ceiling, I cant remember where I saw it though
Good job! Thanks!
You are crushing it! I’m in awe.
Thank you!!
Thanks for the great videos! Your v-slot/t-slot mistake is one that i was about to make. Thank you for helping me! Keep going and doing more videos.
Perfect timing! I just got my Ortur and have been looking for what would go into upgrading the working envelope of the machine.
You're super cool. Can you please tell me more or less what the upgrades cost without the laser itself thanks
Yup the rails where a total of $36 and the belts were about $10, air pump was $35, and the tubing as about $5 everything else like screw I already had around so about $86 to make it bigger and better. Is that what u wanted to know?
@@TimberWood.Customs Good video! Can you tell me where you purchased the rail upgrade and new belts!
Once I increase the size the laser, what do I need to do in Lightburn to increase the work space?
Check out my video on that on my channel:)
@@TimberWood.Customs the $$ part was what I was missing, thank you. I should have the last item I’ve been waiting for today, then I can start working on upgrading my laser.

L. - Just found your channel - YOU'RE Great. My daughter and I are looking for a laser to cut plywood veneer so she can make mini-skateboards by gluing the multiple veneer cuts together. Do you think the Ortur can handle cutting veneer?
Oh definitely!! That would be super cool!
If you do buy one please use the link in the description to help me with my channel:) thank you!!
It's a nice upgrade over the printer laser setup, but what would be better is a makerblock #laserbox pro. It's enclosed with the cameras in the lid, etc. I really wish they would sponsor you, it would be a great learning tool for stem projects also!
I’ll check them out! Thanks
Clever idea and well done. I’ll bet she she was glad when she finished filming when she could take a breath!
where did you buy a x axis rod?
Menards
So thankful for your channel! Where do you get the red feet? I need to cut parts out that are plastic ( Its being done on an Epilog) But the plastic part is 5 inches high so I need to raise the rails and gantry. Can you explain what the air assist does? I have 33 years of experience in Lasers, the first one ( 1987) 145K 15' x 20' second one (1992) Garbage Epilog Summit 45K third one still researching maybe a mira 9 but for this immediate need maybe this will work.
Hi! The red feet are actually 3d printed! Also when I engrave thing that are taller, I just put piece of wood under it to stand it up. And thank you for the support! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! If u need anything else, I’m happy to help!
Ok.. I swear this will be my last question :D
Do you think a Black Plastic Wire Carrier Cable Drag Chain for CNC’s would work with this and keep your wiring out of the way?
Oh yeah totally! I just wanted to clean mine up fast and all I could find at Home Depot was the tubing. But the carrier cable drag would for sure work
Would you ever consider selling these expansion kits?
@@disignscdn I’m not sure yet
What is the cutting area dimensions?
About 900mm by 700mm
I am interested in getting a laser cutter I have a onefinity CNC but this would definitely add to my shop well
You should put a string in the ceiling above the engraver and attach it to the wire that is in the middle of the work area. That way it will be suspended above everything.
Ya I am actually going to do that thx! My dad also suggested that;)
@@TimberWood.Customs I just ordered my Ortur laser engraver a couple of days ago so I've been watching all the videos I can find about it. I have an at home screen printing/sign machine "shop". I'm trying to expand what I can do for my customers and I thought laser engraving is a good one. Every time someone wants something I can't make I try to buy the machinery to make it myself so I also just bought a 3d printer, hat press and mug press. Before the pandemic I was working at anime conventions screen printing shirts on site and making custom decals of whatever people wanted. I also sell 3d perler bead creations. Do you have a step by step sheet and the exact sizes of what you used? I saw the rails and belt links but I don't know how much I need also where do I get the wires and the rod. Thanks for any help you can give
Hey! So the rails all depend on what size you want to make it! I bought 3 1000mm rails for the x axis(has to trim two of them down 1.75 to fit like the original setup was and 2 900mm rails for the y axis. The link for the belt is more than enough for the size rails I bought you just cut them down after u put the frame together. Also, I just extended all the wires with spare wire I had in the shop, just soldered them to extend the distance I needed. Also the rod I got at menards. There should be a link for that too. I think it was 3/16 that’s as close as I could get to 5mm which was the size of the original one, all I had to do was add a little tape and really totem down the coupler that it was connected to. Hope this helps!!
@@TimberWood.Customs I'm gonna cheat a bit I was able to get 2000mw Mini Laser Engraver Cutter for a low $110. When it arrives I want to take my Neje Master 2 20 W head and board and put it into the larger frame so I can increase the bed size from 6 X 6. to ( 25.5 by 19.5 inches ) and put the lower watt in the Neje frame. When I go to lightburn I would add it as a new device and put in the Dimensions and then it will know the laser area I think that's what you advised me. Any other tips or tricks I should know?
Hi. I watched your review of the ortur on Amazon actually. Then I decided to follow you on RUclips. I am extremely interested in learning how to use a laser cutter. Have been for awhile now. I have a vinyl cutting g machine and love to do arts and crafts of all kinds. But I want to "up my game" and learn something new. What would you recommend I do first to learn this craft?
Probably the ortur laser master 2 pro or the Sculpfun S9 laser
I just saw your review on the sculpfun. I had no idea there were so many different laser cutters out there. How did you get into this? School or family?
I was looking at the ortur laser master 2...not the pro series though. Trying to work it out in my budget. What are your thoughts?
Also, have you had experience with the rotary tool to engrave on tumblers and cups and such?
@@crystalcollins5674 if u go for the ortur definitely go for the pro. It is way better than the original and it has better safety features. I can voucher on the safety features for when the machine shut off when there’s a flame detected. That happened to me today and it prevented a fire. I would definitely recommend the pro is very nice cutter and engraver. Very great quality

I switched the power cord to one with a ground in it so yes mine is. I did this because I was having problems with it. But now it’s fine
@@TimberWood.Customs i've been wondering if that's all i need to do is buy a grounded power supply instead of adding wire to the frame and diode, the ortur website shows this whole complex fix to ground the diode to the frame and then the frame to the house ground with a banana plug line. it's been frustrating because the machine will just reset at random times during a long burn. ortur.tech/product-advisories/#olm
