    Best ever British team by a country mile. From 1977 to 1985. But this team, although Forest had their moment in the sun, was the best. Dalglish was truly world class and at his peak. Souness was as good as any central midfielder in Europe. Liverpool were imperious and won four European Cups in seven years, striding like a beautiful gazelle and sweeping all before them.
    Ferguson’s dream was to match that Liverpool team. He did it domestically, however, not in Europe. Liverpool were the equal of any great team in Europe’s footballing history.

    Sign of the times - I remember feeling so upset at being knocked out of the FA Cup by United in 1979 that I would have happily traded the League for a shot at the Cup Final (I was only 10). For the young Scouse lads who obviously and for good reason see Gerrard as the best ever for youse. IMO Kenny Daglish was better, different but better. Remember seeing him when I was a kid sitting on the fences of the Kippax and he was fucking brilliant, his movement and control was out of this world, he was up there as the best in the world in the early 80s. Also, why did Liverpool get rid of Jimmy Case? He was class, but he went to Brighton?? Never worked that out? Any thoughts?? MCFC M20

    • @DDaSilva1980
      @DDaSilva1980 7 лет назад +3

      I've read Jimmy Case's book and he was exchanged for Mark Lawrenson in 1981 who was at the time a Brighton player. It was after Case and Ray Kennedy were involved in an altercation at a hotel during a summer break. Case himself says had it not been for him being transfer listed he would have continued playing for Liverpool.

      Mick Shipton Man Utd were unlucky not to win the first game at Maine Road which they dominated but Liverpool dominated the second game without ever being at their best. Remember Ray Kennedy hitting woodwork which he always seemed to do when a goal was needed against Man Utd ; he scored when it was not crucial ( 3-1 at Anfield Mar 78, 3-0 at Old Trafford Dec 78). It was the end of Emlyn Hughes at Liverpool as Copple gave him a torrid time and Alan Kennedy took over after that semi and always handled the excellent Copple well.
