Whoever gave Mark Lanegan the opportunity to be able to afford to leave his job and make a solo album is the hero here and should be named and thanked out of respect and gratitude. Truth, it's who you know and not what.

Sub Pop gave him the money to make solo albums. Even though it was less than what the Trees were getting because he didn’t need to split the money four ways it made more financial sense to pursue that opportunity instead. Of course we benefited because it allowed him to be set free artistically too.

As he grew older he seemed to become more relaxed especially once he’d written his memoir. He gave some very funny interviews if he felt relaxed after that point.

Lanegan was gifted with a great voice and an innate sense of melody. Lyrically he's quite word salad meaningless crap. I've shed tears to his records, but it had nothing to do with what he was actually saying. Just my unique experience.

Really?? Dude... Mark Lanegan and Chris Cornell were the true poets of Seattle. How can you say that? Every song is a lyrical masterpiece with the exception of maybe Juarez which was written intentionally in a humorous way. Every line has a meaning because he truly meant it and he lived a hard story to tell. He even wrote three books of poetry before he died... I don't know where you're coming from with that statement
