The volcanic dust is used by bacteria and fungus as food and then the plants can uptake the depleted vitamins and minerals from the soil and feed them to YOU. The bacteria and fungus process in the first year and the plants process in the second year. The difference will be wonderful in the second year. It works for all your plants.

So it’s mixed into the soil first year then the plants you plant the following year benefit from it? Have I got that right xx

      @@DaveyDebGeordieland7053 Yes, perfectly.
Soil all over the world has been depleted of vitamins, salts and minerals for decades. But all should avoid aluminium, as it is not good for the nervous system and the brain.

Volcanic dust is worth using, had some good results with it, just not sure where the volcanoes are in Stanley.

I might do a test in one of the 6 raised beds we’re putting in and see if there’s any difference….would like to use locally sourced volcanic dust from as close to Stanley as possible 🤣🤣🤣

Volcanic dust is supposed to remineralis the soil replacing lost trace elements etc but wether it works or not I don't know if there no instructions on the PAC use about a handful per square yard ,I read about it quite a lot back in the 80s

Volcanic dust is a soil conditioner and can also help with the p.h. of your soil.
It contains a level of sulphur. Hope this helps

So you’d need a test kit to see what your soil is before you’d use anything like that? Never heard of it before ☺️

@DaveyDebGeordieland7053 it was or might still be made by a company called remin. A soil test is a must before adding anything imo.

Oh yes I need to prune my fruit trees too this weekend, thanks for reminding me. A lot of things to do to prepare for the next Spring coming soon.☺ The mineral composition of the volcanic ash can also be beneficial for the soil by increasing fertility but at the same time with contrasting effects on plants due to the influence on soil characteristics such as pH, soil aeration, and biodiversity, which can detrimentally affect some crops. - i would not use it to grow crops.
