I love videos like these! Lmao when you were saying how stupid these buzzword/social media terms sound, I was like yup!! I'm 26, a software engineer for video games, but trying to call it "friend group 1.0" and "2.0" sounds pretty objectively stupid. Because I never think like that -- I never think like "I'm *better* than others. I grew up in the northeast (NJ) but I have similar beliefs about being genuine with friends and growing together instead of just dumping people! Marketing terminology is annoying, constant attention-seeking for things that are more boring than they're trying to word it as. I've made my mistakes in friendships before, but I try to learn from them and communicate with people. I've also had friends with varying degrees of things in common -- sometimes with game dev passion in common, but also not -- I don't need someone to be rich or to constantly be on some crazy grind 24/7, or to agree with me on everything, for me to just connect with them and enjoy spending time together. I think overall we could be more open-minded and have less walls down, even just for friendly interactions with strangers, neighbors, acquaintances, etc. Anyways, both of us rambling 😂 but there are good people out there!
Also don't mind me sounding disgruntled, text can be so dry sometimes lol. And I could go on, but basically, I'm always learning and trying to be less judgmental of people. My best friend, I've known him since 2017 (we went to college together) and he's still in NJ, I moved to central TX, but we still keep in touch all the time, with texts and calls. Our careers went slightly different paths, but I would never think of abandoning him! He taught me that everyone has different texting habits and it doesn't mean that he's being a dick. I guess it just takes time to learn people and what you're looking for, what you're OK with, etc. We've ghosted each other in the past and we laugh about it now 😂
