Amazing! I've been looking for a video actually explaining the mechanics of pushing, all the other videos just say "learn how to fall, do the march, how to stand back up etc." those are good but I actually want to know how my body should be placed and what part of my blade I should be on. You explained this so well! Thank you I look forward to more! Maybe you could do a video about what stretches or exercises I should do at home to be more sturdy and flexible on the ice?
is it possible provide us a list of steps ordered which are necessary to follow to learn? I mean I learn my selft and I don't know what are the next steps (for example after 3 turn forward?) Thanks!!
I would love to have the Cantilever or Biellmann spins Tutorial because those are the figure skating elements that made me more interested in Figure Skating
This is so clear and helping tutorial. Knee bend, pushing,,, know I still don't push effectively. Zooming to your skates is good and one can see you're making a tree when you stroke 🙂❤
This reminds me of that one time our rink had a former olympic skater visit and give a special skating clinic. She went over these and I felt like a much better skater after that session.
AW thanks for this!! I still haven't perfected my forward stroking and your video finally came up! Can't wait to get on the ice and replay the video beside the rink to follow it step by stel
This is perfect, next weekend the doctor reckons my broken wrist will be good-enough for me to venture back on the ice, and after 12 weeks away I'm definitely going to want to start again with the basics. I expect my stamina, balance and confidence will all be pretty dodgy, so my main goals for my first session are 1) go forwards, 2) go backwards, 3) don't break any more bones. 🤣
Such an excellent tutorial. I’ve been scouring RUclips for one that went into detail on forward stroking. One of similar detail on backwards stroking would be great
@ a roadmap for skills in learning ice skating would also be excellent. As someone trying to learning skating from your videos, it would be very handy to have a list of what to master and in what order. Eg gliding, stroking, swizzles, pumps, crossovers etc. there are so many tutorials I get a bit overwhelmed at what to tackle next.
Great tutorial! Thanks for the detailed explanations, Coach Julia. Look forward to practicing!

I love ice skating. I like how much there is to learn, no matter how good you get, there is always something to learn. I like how precise it is.

@ Kim Haejin. Competed in the 2014 Olympics representing Korea. (aka “the other Korean skater” alongside Kim Yuna)
