    I think the producers are missing a glorious opportunity here. The main cast (minus Masterson) is back and they all look exceedingly good for the time that's passed and are obviously willing to do the show. Is it too much to ask that the show simply could have followed the same characters (with their kids) in the 90s just not be side pieces?

    Apparently, the former gang will only be back for about one episode, since they don't want to upstage the new generation. Wonder if they'll address Hyde or Laurie's absences?

      Laurie passed away in real life. So, they will probably address it in that manner. There is nothing much that you can do with that. And not much to really say about Hyde. They may not address it much at all since majority of them won't be on the show permanently. They are just doing a cameo.

    • @Neekogo

      @ladenna young but the part of Laurie was recasted during the initial run of the That 70s Show so there's nothing to say they wont being the second actress back as Laurie

      They should just mention in passing, after Laurie divorced Fez, Lauri and Hyde got married, became yuppies and are living in L.A and that Hyde eventually went to jail and Laurie became famous (RIP to the actress)... not sure if they should address Danny Masterson's disgusting crimes in real life, though...

The town in the show, Point Place, is a play on the real city of Stevens Point, a university town in central WI. I hope the 90’s show captures more characteristics unique to the area because there’s a lot. Point has one of the nation’s longest continuous operating breweries in the nation and offers tours.

      I enjoyed watching "That 70s Show" on TV and then Netflix later on because I enjoy period sitcoms given how they serve as a means of bridging the generational gap between the people who grew up in a certain decade and the younger generation. "That 70s Show" did this quite perfectly and I have faith that the same can be done with "That 90s Show" because it can bridge the generational gap between the people who grew up in the 90s and their kids as they can see the clothes and hairstyles that were fashionable amongst their parents and their friends in that decade, what music they listened to, the movies and TV shows that were popular at the time, etc.

    I think having Red and Kitty on board with a new cast will help to keep the show feeling nostalgic. Pretty sure those two would help to keep the new generation from getting too far off script so to speak. That's why That 80's Show failed is because it was literally all new cast and they didn't try to keep with the general idea.

      The problem with 'That 80s Show' is it wasn't even BASED around 'That 70s Show.' Even though it had a similar name, show structure, and many of the same writers and production staff, it was not a direct spin-off of 'That '70s Show.' It just shared a similar name. The characters and storylines from the two shows never crossed paths, which is why if flopped.

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname 2 года назад

      @@BeckyAnn6879 IMHO That 70's Show worked because it had a great original cast and came from a time period of innocence where parents didnt know what their kids were up to and didnt really care as long as they got good grades and didnt bring the cops to the door. When you and 5 of your coed friends could pile in a van and go away for the weekend and none of you are older than a senior in high school.
      That 80's Show, in the era of "Just Say No" was more about the time period. Trends and fads and what they saw from old episodes of M-TV. Also the people were too old. Not everyone is trying to make it in a band in Cali but most of us went to high school.
      The new show, the kids will be too young, smoking weed will be frowned upon for kids under 18 even in the 90's and the folks that watch for that 70 show cameos will find they will be few if ever after the first show and will fall away quickly.
