- Flite Test - Frankenplane Build - PROJECT
There's something very scary about this episode of Flite Test. In this Episode watch as Josh and Josh build the Frankenplane! This scary plane not only performs amazing but it also looks cool too! Watch this episode to see it come ALIVE!
did anyone else notice the nice touch on the flitetest logo in the lower left corner of the screen?
That was the perfect weather for a frankenplane!
Claudio Duarte and I'm watching this on holloween
That weather could not have been more perfect. Excellent series guys thanks. I have been flying RC for years, but still find your videos entertaining and informative. You are doing a great job of introducing people to the hobby. Keep it up!
This is a great episode! Thoroughly enjoyed it! I'm really surprised how well the "Frankenplane" flew! Well done guys!
Josh: That was a bit harsh
Josh: Its just not durable enough! :D
I love the original episodes.
yes man. I binge-watched FT about 2 years ago and it was so awesome. then new flitetest happened and I stopped. Miss the old one so much..
Done this a lot . Most fun I've had in the hobby . Used to use those foam gliders you get from wallmart a lot cheap and easy .
The flite test logo on the bottom left has a Frankenstein face! Haha
I love the lightning in the background! great shots! I would not have the guts to fly out in that weather haha
I like watching these older videos of yours. When I am in Canton and pass your place on I77 right by the Hall of Fame bridge, I am always looking for odd stuff flying when I pass. Would be nice to be able to stop in when I am staying down in the area which is often, I am in Plain Township right by the Hall of Fame. Keep up the great work!
HAHAHA! "one man's junk is another man's treasure." Josh Scott i am impressed that you let that go with only a funny face.
hey you guys are just AWESOME!! i love the way you explain everything with patience and spend sooo much money for the rc stuff!!!!!
This was awesome! You guys are the only reason I check my youtube subscriptions regularly for. Eagerly awaiting the next one guys!
When the lightning strikes, I practically hear the words... "It's Alive!"
Whoaaaaa, this is my favorite episode, Storm, lightning, frankenplane (i did not belived that it will fly, but come on, you guys are magicians) whaaaaa, COOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLL episode. That would have been en extra a lightning strike into the plane.
The look on older Josh's face when you young Josh crumpled up the the tail section was priceless lol 😂 🤣 😂
Best one in ages. The next one looks good too.
Thanks
anyone else just daydream and dream about building planes? lol
yep
Tucan Sam yh pretty much
MEEEEEEE
You uugly
bruh buy foam board
my favourite episode till now (i´m looking from oldest to newest.
Location, weather, frankenplane - very consistent!
I like what you are doing!
Nice one guys!!!! What a perfect day for the perfect plane!
that is exactly what i usually do with my crashed planes! good job guys!
wow what a perfect plane, perfect weather for a frankenplane theme ! It's ALIVEEEEE...
Appropriate weather for the "frankenplane". Great use of parts.
Awesome vid guys. I'd buy a frankenplane! :) Next ep looks awesome too, looking forward to it.
josh scott i love your spongebob references and flights. dont stop doing either!
Awesome Build, looks like it Flies perfectly, keep up the Great Work Guys, love watching!
guys you couldn't have ordered better weather for your "Frankenplane"! HA HA HA!
good job yet again!!
great job guys. definitely a fun episode. keep it up. thumbs UP
Have done this with a 1/4 scale Piper Cub tail, a length of square section of plastic drain pipe, a Precedent Low Boy wing and a OS .40FP series two stroke engine. fish tailed like crazy, could not do any aerobatics but was good at touch and goes.
that actually worked, it looked quite nice! I think there is actually a gap in the market for low winged polyhedral planes :)
I love this episode. You have given me some great ideas for my scrapped crashed planes. Great RC projects and lessons for new RC students. :0)
"Well...you don't want to do anything half A.." @1:44..Hahahaha...best pun yet!
COOL video guys great job on the build and it flew so good,it was awesome,i can't wait to see the next video. Thanks again DAN
that Frankenstein flite test logo is awesome
Great Episode and "Background" Theme :) Very Cool!
Nice new intro. guy's...In my early days I use to build Frankenplanes...When some one at the airfield would total a plane, I'd take the plane home to rebuild with other parts...
That turned out well, nice one guys, great to see.
Nice plane and great video, really appreciate all effort you guys go through to make great episodes!
Great video guys. Awesome plane and very entertaining!!!! Good job
Josh Scott cracks me up man.
Why do we do this? ::confidently:: Because we can! ::without-pause:: No, Because we are cheap. lol I'm loving going back over these older vids guys. Keep up the new content!
Thanks again! Love all the videos you make :)
I can relate to Bixler, when he says he started out with 0.049s and started cheap. Because I'm so cheap I opt to build my own planes from scratch, yea it's kinda neat to see your own design up there but the real reason for me is I'm cheap.
awsome... I didn´t thought it could get any better !
@MrTxTx We use the Red Rock Micro DSLR Rig.
u guys should make a swappable out of foam for this plane it would be so cool :D
This looks like it would make a great FPV trainer for Josh S!
Josh1: what's the problem with this elevator? Josh2: It doesn't match (color) LOL. Great episode. Keep it up.
Some of my best planes that I flew or made out of pieces and parts /Frankenstein planes where the best that I had fun with because I did not care about wrecking them. “They were pieces and parts”. That one that you’re flying now seems to have beautiful flying abilities for a beginners plane. You need to copy that plan design. and market it as a beginner plane.
that thunder sounds really good in headphones
YES! FLITE TEST IS THE AWESOMEST SHOW ON RUclips. I AM A MEGA ULTRA FAN
More videos with bad weather!!!!! Loved this!!
5:01 Don't throw it away yet! We need to eat that!
Great choice of backdrop..lightning bolts in the background for the maiden flight of a plane called Frankenplane. Honestly though, how many shoots did it take to get the flashing bolts? I found myself expecting it to be struck. Awesome show all around; content, editing, narrating and, most of all, interaction with respect and encouragement. Love your show.
I think most of those were fake. The one at 11:43 certainly is.
I used my min talon wing then added the 2 spars from the fuselage then made a twin boom. I then also just made a cardboard tube, glued it on. Added all my electronics and it flew quite well.
I would absolutely kill for any of those scrap planes to start with. I'm working with the scrap of the scrap of the scrap.
lol yeay for frankenplane. i know i had frankenstined many electronics in my time and made some fun projects with them.
Wow, I am amazed at how good this turned out (both the plane and the episode), this is your best episode yet. More happy accidents? Keep it up!
what kind of camera mounts are you using for your DSLRs? They look awesome and i have been looking for something like that! Love the show!
Man, this is one great video and one great plane!
Niice episode! :D
I am sooo looking forward for the nextone! :)
It’s perfect that they flew it in the lightning storm!
This episode had a different touch and it was a nice twist. Nice having Frankenplane go up on a stormy day. I have to ask, was the lightning authentic or cg?
Will there be a Bride of Frankenplane (with a radical hairdo)?
I really enjoy watching you guys (not in a creepy way...;}) go through these projects. I'm definately getting that EDF Zephyr in one of your other videos! Thanks!
If it flew so great you should make it a kit!
I have come to this video from the future...8 years in the future. Nice.
Great vid...well done guys
Kudos on making the metaphor of "Frankenplane" in time to catch the edge of a lightning storm, making the whole thing scary!
Just a tip: there are two kinds of sailplane wings:
- Polyhedral: tips that come up (3 channel)
- Dihedral: a bend in the middle (4 channel)
There is no "polyDIhedral". All wings should have some dihedral, but it's pronounced "polyhedral" when there are tilted wingtips.
@flitetest
I gotta say that unless lightning hits right on top of you there will always be a second or more of delay with the bang depending how far it is.
awesome, a great vid. And I can't wait for next one either
The poor guy with the mic 11:45 ...
... standing in the thunderstorm with a long metal pole!
Looking at the fuselage, I have the feeling that this plane may have led to the design of the simple scout
Even when it pours.. You guys still do your damn thing! LOVE YALL!!!!!!
10:26 perfect shot
really great episode.
Creapy Plane, Creapy Weather, what else.
Niiiiiiice fly.
saludos desde México.
"you dont want a small wing with a big tail" 7 years later the trash plane is born with a bigger vertical stabiliser than the main wing haha
yes! Please do an episode on esc's an motors. I'v been flying for a few years now and have lots of flying experience.... BUT i bought most of my planes an never really had to mess around with the motors an esc's. so i STILL dont realy know anything about em.
You guys should do an fpv challenge where you try to land on the top of the large tower
Very cool vids, keep up the great work... what's the setup for your film crew? Would be an excellent video to see how you guys shoot and produce your segments. Looks like alot of work, but the end result is always spectacular and fun to watch. What camera do you use? Looks like a dslr instead of a video cam? Cheers!
I built a 3ch plane just like in this video (Pitch & Yaw) out of an Air Ace III B17 Betty, 2 clothes racks and 2 Jamara Servos. The funny thing is, that you need two people to fly it because it´s got two receivers. One for the 4 motors and one for the two servos. (If i could find out what voltage and amperage those motors tolerate i might be able to put it all together but i dont think i ever will.)
felt scarred for the sound guy with those lightning bolts coming down
Mwahahahaha. Eegore, it's alive!!! Rofl. Guys GREAT vid. Surprised how well the low wing polydihedral setup worked.....hmmmmm. Eegore!! To the foam supply!!! Time to build!!!
I miss the josh and josh flite test shows 😭
Now thats just NEAT
hey, a new speed kit !!!!! Yahoo !!!!!!!
GREAT video guys
@simio1337 If the difference between flash and bang is 5 seconds then it was aprox 1 mile away. Speed of sound is 768mph at 20°C (slower when it's colder) which gives you 5 seconds per mile.
great video, more like this!
That was great! I like that airplane! if you can find a video link so you can use two cameras on for fpv and one looking down to drop a bomb or bombs! There has to be some thing out there to use so you can change the camera's!? if it can be done you guys can do it! but put the lower cam a little for word so you can time the bombs!? what do you think?
That was bad ass!
Great creation. What were the donor models used?
Talk about a STOL style landing!!
Nice touch with the logo downleft ;)
Nice! But please make a cowling for it lads.
You don't want to do anything "Half A" Ha ha !
Which is funny because .049 engines used to be called half-A engines.
Your cameraman is gonna have back and neck problems in a couple of years!
your videos deserve so much more views
I love our videos watch um all the time! PS please wright back! :D
Great Episode flitetest Team:D
