hey Guys, Noah Here from Texas. loved the video. few tips on cooking crawdads. 1. you need to purge them. put them in a bath of salt water so they can spit up the mud/dirt in them. Repeat until the water is clear. this will make them taste better. 2. after you finish boiling them immediately put them in a container with ice and cool them down. the shock of the ice makes them absorb the flavor and it makes them easier to peel. 3. de-vein them. there are five fins on the tail. grab the middle one and gently move it left to right till it gets loose and give a light pull. what you get is the poop tube out. now ENJOY your clean delicious crawdads. hope this helps.
@Hamza Tawfiq➐ he’s laughing at you guys because they don’t typically purge them in the south. If anything his comment wasn’t that serious to warrant your response lmao
Dirty Jersey LSU school of science actually did a study on this and found it actually resulted in more crawfish dying from the salt than if a fresh water rinse is used. Now you may ask, what’s so wrong with them dying? They’re gonna die anyway. The difference is if you soak with fresh water, once you boil a bunch and see flat tails, you’ll know they were the ones that were dead before you started soaking and boiling, the freshwater rinse simply reduces the amount that died! #NativeCajun
Mav I'm originally from Minnesota and then moved to Montana. You would love the walleye we have here! 20 inches is small for Fort Peck Lake and they get fat! Make for some really good fillets
In Louisiana, we boil a couple hundred pounds at a time. 21 crawfish would just tick a Cajun off. Next time you go to Louisiana, go during crawfish season.
I’m pretty new to your videos, but I would love to see more in depth/lengthier segments on the cleaning. It’s so satisfying 😌 Also, love that the boat says “Mav”. Subbed and hit the 🔔
Down here in Louisiana we eat a good 5 to 10 lbs a person. You should try and throw some veggies like onions, potatoes, and asparagus. Also adding lemons or oranges is a good combo. The water really dilutes the flavor so you need to add lots of season, more than you think. Definitely order you some zatarans liquid boil and the seasoning too. Last tip I would give you is to throw ice in the pot after they are done cooking helps to cool them down but also makes them a little easier to pill.
im late on this vid but you need to come down south to new orleans for a real crawfish boil. we can show you the tradition. best crawfish youll ever have
My dream is to one day be your friend bro you seem like the coolest dude and your life seems like so much fun! Keep up the cool videos man love this channel! 💯
i always watch your videos then proceed to look at trucks on craigslist with the rear topper hoping to maybe live out a life like that haha really inspiring content though man you deserve all the recent gainz on the channel!!
Add onions lemons and tangelos/oranges to the boil and let it roll with your seasoning add crawfish once you feel the water has gotten and the flavors. Of course need some Zatarans sometimes we add mushrooms and artichoke they soak up the flavor really well
My dad was an avid fisherman, and every time I watch one of your fishing videos I think about how much he would love to watch you too. "Keep on truckin'"
The fact that last man said he could eat crawfish all day is hilarious coming from a Louisiana man, I’m from Mississippi so I’m the same, but that shit was just hilarious, glad to see some other southerners in here
Texas man here, 20 crawfish is like not even 1 person... I have a 6 person family and we can easily eat 40-50 lbs of crawfish. Also when they start to float, thats when they are done, not when the tails start to seperate. A lot of people overcook their crawfish.
@@slurpity9234 Im from south Louisiana, and boiling crawfish is not like frying fish, its not when they float its when they sink, thats when they soaked up the seasoning, When you turn your pot off and the crawfish all at the top, you let then soak till they sink in the water, thats when they seasoned
Any walleye over about 15” I zipper the fillets. On the tail end make a small cut on each side of the blood line then just pull apart. You end up with two clean filets
@@Xxlaynpipe22xX you just run your knife on either side of the blood line. You'll be able to grab it once you get to the end and just pull the whole line comes out and the few tiny bones generally left in that area will pull up as well.
I love your enthusiasm Mav when you say your opener. Where we do hunting, fishing etc. Yes I’m being sarcastic. Maybe you could shorten it to living the outdoor lifestyle or something. Love your videos bud. I wish you all the best. Thanks and God bless.
Were they are the bottom that the crawfish live on is more rock down here in Texas we have muddy bottoms so we purge them.but ending my statement they don’t have to purge them cause they are cleaner up there
Will I catch and cook …lol I love you Mav your so awesome and I love watching your videos I told my wife walleye catch and cook and she said what will I catch and cook what’s that!!! Really oh I love her good times anyway keeping coming sr….
@mav The cardinal rule is to purge and thoroughly wash the crawfish before boiling them. ... You do not want them to be dead when you add them to the boil. Throw away all crawfish that have already died (the dead crawfish should float to the top). You do not, I repeat, DO NOT want to add dead crawfish to the pot. this is pretty much fact and ive seen you multiple times eat them without cleaning them its not rly healthy

finally somebody put a comment about cleaning them. totally agree
I think you should put a camp cooking cookbook together! Then sell it to your subscribers. I would definitely buy one!
How much did your f1 cost
I wouldn’t
I would too
Carl Zluticky and we could teach him how to say crawfish
Same! If buy that
Just an FYI, you HAVE to purge them before cooking them. Crawfish are bottom feeders and you don’t want that crap in your system when you eat them.
salt water is your friend sometimes...
Just drink some rum while eating. Lol
You obviously aren’t from the south 😂

Walleye cheeks, bottom fins are delicious with flour seasoned salt 🤗 Canadian girl here. Love fishing for them too.
Was surprised seeing Mav not crack a bubbly, and instead a cold one with the boy.

Louisiana sucks
There's a reason why 60%+ of the American population is obese. Indulgence is helluva a drug.
Not much hunting but fishing that I've seen throughout his year. Not completely my 5 and I watch him. And like your cooking it looks awesome to make

When you fry fish - fry everything. Fried crispy with some hot sauce.
When you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner around your house with no sweat that's when you know life is good
You can do that at Rikers and Angola.

Mav , you should make a spicy smash pepper, salt msg and some garlic with lemon or lime as a dipping sauce it goes great with crawfish or any meat.
Louisiana fish fry seasoning is good. I haven’t tried shore lunch.
Walleye is by far my favorite fish to eat! I usually use a black jig with leaches when I fish in Canada. Keep up the great work man!
Hows the luck up there i havent had much luck with them this year most i heard last i was at lake erie was maybe 3 out of the week lol
you should purge the crawfish before eating
Salt water
You should run clean water over them but purging them with salt water has been proven to be a myth
