I raced a mk 2 in the Firestone Production Saloon Car Championship in 90 and 91. In 91 we got it revving to 9500rpm and ran a virtually solid back end to get it to handle. Finished 2nd in my Class and 2nd in the Suzuki Swift Challenge. Proper little car. I sold it in Group N trim to a Rally Driver in Portugal, Paulo Cunha.
I used to have one of these back in the late 90’s. Crappy interiors, (but great seats), and they just love to be thrashed. 7500rpm red line IIRC? Great racing. Great to see.
A great piece of racing and great little cars 👌 Lots of them ended up in motorsport and they always punched well above their weight... Literally. In 90s Aussie rallying they were often in the top 10 cars in packed state rounds. They were awesome, indestructible Road cars that P platers could flog day in, day out and not worry about anything going bang 👌
@@slowlearner984 Gearboxes in Rally cars are a 'consumable' and most teams rebuild often after testing. Turboing one and tyring to run that power through a stock box would not be great either. I imagine upgrading and adapting something bigger (maybe a Baleeno box) would be something to investigate.
@@Danger_mouse The guys I knew were running every holinger and suzuki sport part they could find to try and keep them together with very little success. They expressedly told me that was why they sold their rally car. But yeah, there are probably more options these days.
@@slowlearner984 Do you mean for rallying? I find that odd, as the Qld guys running in group N did rally after rally with 100% finishes back in the day. As I said, nothing lasts forever, you'd need to be prepared to 'life' component and keep changing them before they fail. Take the 4x4 Mazda 323 Familia, you needed to replace 3rd gear every 2nd rally or it was likely to fail on the 3rd rally. The were just very heavily stressed. As a stock road car they were fine.
I never got to own one but took many rides/drove in these and this brings it all back. The fact that there were three wheel hops and the car took it like a champ is just a testament to how good these cars were (and the size of the dudes cojones hahaha). Great video guys!!!
Awesome battle and some good driving 👍 It looks like they could do with some stiffer springs and thicker sway bars as these things had so much body roll!!
That's insane. My wife and had a 5 door swift for many years. I flogged it and flogged it. Then my bro had it for ages before it ran out of compression. Poor thing is sitting on my parents front lawn now. This makes me want to put a late model swift motor/trans in it and go racing!
@@GTSW1FT Honestly don't know. Get a tape measure I guess. MK2 swifts have got to be a good platform for swaps now though. I was racing with a friend today who has the newer Suzuki Swift Sport with VVTi and all that. That motor would be a monster in a Mk2.
First of all, congratulations for the post. I have a swift gti track in Brazil and I would like to know if you have more information about those in the video?
Epic, the ‘giant killing’ swift GTI’s at 11/10ths, thanks again blend line tv for another great video.
I love Aussie racing so damn much as a Murican'. Love this series and love this channel. Thank you so much for sharing!
Love my little ‘94 Gti…. It’s my daily drive through country roads… just good fun.
Nearly 600k on the clock and still cruising. Great video👌
same here, still own mine 660k on the clock, hard track and mountain road abuse, not a problem with it
Me too!
how can you tell? The odometer stops at 99k
I love how the Integra has no idea how to handle the insane situation

7500 rpm redline/fuel cut, forged pistons/rods/crank, lovely little cars

Ummm, my rallying mates told me the gearboxes often went bang. Same issue for the turbo guys. I wonder what these guys are doing for a transmissions.

That's some great racing between those two! Pushing beyond the limit of the cars, not much room for error. 🤣 😲
They’re amazing
Great driving, fair and fast 👍

Great video guys!!!
Thanks Mark! Pumped you enjoyed it.
We reckon these guys were absolutely on the limit giving us some great entertainment!
It more fun to drive slow cars fast!!! Throttle down from Chicago, thanks for another awesome video. ✌
Just awsome racing. Cheers from Portugal
Thanks for watching!
Awesome in car footage.
Awesome indeed. Perfectly placed rear view mirror too - so exciting to watch!

thats how these things make grip though
G13B, 8000rpm (stock mode) 👍👍
Epic. Bravo! Driving skills, happy rev engine and a really good chassis setup. Nice to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video, keep on!!
What an awesome battle. Now that’s some wheel work. Thanks for sharing
👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃
Great Stuff! The true spirit of motor racing! Get a solid car and go racing hard, but fair.

I would k24 swap it, & keep the old one in a safe place
@@Eduardo_Espinoza the only safe place for the old one is holding a boat still. It's beyond worn out. I used to do 70kmh in 1st gear. LOL
Would a m16a fit in a mk2 swift

The body flex on those cars is immense, haha. Gonna need way more bracing than that to keep 'em down!
I had one just like those... But 1.6 GTi (G16A bottom end + GTi head)...
No. 76 wants to go on 2 wheels in that one corner... :O
That 1.3 L twin cam 16v engine is a giant killer
The bloke that built that motor is good!
This gen of Swift only sold in JP, AU & NZ?
This is awesome
Had one as a road car, miss that little bugger..
Wicked racing!
Gawd damn that looks like a lot of fun. Anyone know engine specs on these bad boys?
Sheesh! That was intense.
Top racing
Like a racing in Live For Speed
It's a car on the straight, and a motorcycle in the turns 😂😂
hahaha yeah, we couldn't believe the in car footage when we first saw it!
They really floor it.
Looks like amazing fun.

These two guys are from Harris Motorsport: facebook.com/harrismotorsports
Hi,which mods have you done and it goes on integra tail;
These Swift's found the replacement for displacement. Hint it's less weight.
Might as well be considered a motorcycle as much as they’re lifting the wheels up from the track ha!
fantastic
me parece que giro metales el swift 75
Why aren’t they being smooth on the turns, instead battling with the wheel correction???
At the bloody limit
Need more camber
I'm coming from Indonesia 🚖🚖🚖
Shake and bake baby
🤣 No wonder every second hand swift GTi is clapped out.
Me watching these guys hold up and pester the Acura, then the Toyota: "Stop, that's bullying. Now do it again"
hehehehe go go go go!
We love seeing them catch up, but it must be horrible to see in the rear view mirror!
1 in Perth for $6k not worth it but great cars.
I paid $12k for a super clean 97 GTi 3 months ago (in Perth) with only 100k on the clock. Absolutely worth it
@@waroonafreerider wow!!!🤨 are sure it was a suzuki gti? And not a civic type r? Thats a lot of money for wift gti
👌👌👌
Run teggie run!!!
Needs a cage
When you have all of the mechanical grip, without the help of stinking downforce. - ^ -
thing literally drives like a boat!
Top top g13b fuck 👌👌👌
K20 swap and finish him! 😁
F u, no, F u, no, F u! Oh F u Honda & Toyota!
