This video focuses on the Discovery Loop Trail which is a short one mile trail near the visitors center. I’m SO glad we saw the ancient bristlecones while we still lived there. We took the longer trail, if you’re used to living at sea level, it can be a little rough, but worth it. We saw Bighorn sheep on the way up.
I’m been loving these series of videos with you, and pops. He seems like a very cool guy to hangout with 👍🏼😀
I do enjoy hanging out with him! Glad you enjoy the videos 😀
Passed this way so many times but haven’t done this hike yet. Will have to.
Btw- your Dad is cute. You’re lucky to be hangingout/hiking with your Dad. But you probably already know that.
For all you people that "Trust the science" let me tell you something. There is NO WAY THEY NO THAT TREE DIED IN 1676. NO WAY AT ALL. Prove me wrong!!!
I'll probably have to pack oxygen at my age. ;*]. Friends and I were there in the early 70s, going back is in my bucket list...
Josh and Pop, go back there! Order ominous black clouds, and then take photos of iconic tree with black clouds in the background. Oh, so divine! Did you take that little spur trail to the cabin? Nice views of the Sierras from there. As always, great video! Thank you!
Wow that is incredible, I enjoy the views and learning from your video. Thanks dear
No problem, thanks for the comment!
Hey Josh and Pops, what month did u go up there as during COVID when I was there all was closed. Great channel that I tell everyone about.
Do you expect snow covering the trail in mid November!?
My best pic of that trail is the same tree. I’ve sent that photo to friends and they don’t think it’s a real photo. That trail is incredible. Thanks for posting
It is a pretty incredible trail for how much you see in such a short time
Amigo... Gracias por tus videos
I live in California for 30 years, but I didn't know about all this beautiful places, Thanks
Another great job of bringing attention to semi-hidden gems along Hwy 395!
Thanks! It’s an amazing spot to explore for sure
There are not a lot of trails that I really, really, really want to hike again. I've done these trials twice...and can't wait to get back again! My wife has never been here...we were in the Owens Valley but skipped visiting this area because I thought the trails would be closed, knowing that the visitor center and the Grandview Campground were closed. Arrrrrgh!! BUT: that'll give us a reason to go back really soon! Thanks for the video!
I agree, I always enjoy coming back and seeing these trees! haha, it is also always good to have an excuse to drive Highway 395!
Probably the coolest looking trees in the world! Love this video man and we definitely need to come back and explore some more!
So glad you guys got to experience it after your insane road trip! Props for getting there at sunset with all that driving haha
So interesting! I didn't even know about this park! I think the curly-cue tree was my fav, although the iconic tree was pretty cool.
Thanks for the comment! Yea it is a pretty unique spot to explore in CA
My daughter has a tattoo of that famous tree on her arm that represents her and her brother.
Man Josh, you make these trails look so great! I definitely need to plan a California trip and start hitting some of them! Great work as always!
Thank you, California certainly has some amazing spots! I need to explore some of the spots you share in Florida though!
I was here on the day you posted the video to hike white mountain huh
I found mesthuselah using an old national geographic picture of it...
That's awesome! I have never even seen what it looks like, I will have to look it up
Why can't I watch your Bohemian Grove video? It keeps buffering
Thanks so much for making these videos! This place is most definitely on my bucket list. I hope to visit in the next few years (before I get too old!).
I’m over 70 and still hike those hills. So can you! 😀
@@californiahiker9616 Thanks for the encouragement!
Didn't even kmow that Bristlecone Pine Forest even existed. Gotta go and check it out
It’s a great place to explore for sure
Is this area having fires? I hope not.
Would love to visit the area to experience these ancient monoliths...a friend of mine had a little box made from a piece of Bristlecone Pine...just touching one and knowing the history these trees have passed through is mind blowing...
We visited in the summer of 2008. Amazing place! Thank you for again a fantastic video.
I love the bristle pine forest we did the loop and it was so peaceful pictures do not do justice you literally have to get out there and witness Gods creation❤️thank you love your videos and special bonding with your awesome dad🙏❤️
❤
I tried to get to that place in February, it was closed because of the snow but I will go again beautiful video
Awesome
What a cool place! Love your shots on those amazing trees!

I really enjoyed to watch this beautiful trail.
Every time Ive been to CA, I find trail beaches lol.. It's kinda become a staple for my Cali trips.
Hard to beat some good trails by the beach for sure!
Never heard you breathing hard before while narrating, even on some of the steeper trails, but the White Mountains seem to have taken your breath away, literally.
What's the temperature difference between the park and Bishop down below?
Haha gotta love going from sea level to 11000 feet. It’s a pretty big temp difference for sure. Prob a good 30 degrees or so when we were there
As always great video! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us ❤️
No problem!
I can now see why its called the iconic tree wooow! Id love to go see it in person great hike josh! Wonder why not many people know of it including myself thanks for another add to the bucketlist 😀
It’s a good ways off Highway 395 so a lot of people don’t take the drive but it is worth it for sure
Thanks for the video again. So does it mean that you'll have to go on unpaved road regardless, even if you're just going to the visitor center?
Nope, the road to the visitors center is paved
@@californiathroughmylens thanks for the quick response man. We’re definitely gonna head here before the snow season comes.
I can't wait to explore this area! Thank you! I live in the Kern River Valley, Lake Isabella area. So many places here to explore too. 😀❣
I drove through there a few months ago but I need to spend more time there
@@californiathroughmylens it is a beautiful area. Many areas to explore. We have a lot of old abandoned gold mines you can explore.
c'est ce qu'on a fait en octobre 2019. Super à faire. Magnifique.
So glad you got to see it! It is a pretty incredible area!
@@californiathroughmylens yes, in addition with the good weather, we could see the valley of owens and mount whitney. We took the time to visit the valley but we missed things to see following your beautiful videos. If one day I come back to the area, I will. Thank you for letting us discover them.
Super cool looking trees.
Agreed!
Do these trees produce greenery ?
Ya they have some small green leaves on them. I don’t think the main one from the thumbnail is still alive but I’m not 100% sure
Where’s Amy?
She has been pregnant with twins and just gave birth so we will be off traveling for a while but she will be back soon!
California Through My Lens Congrats and God Bless
Hey, can I ask you something. How do you make those suggestion videos from your channel with i at the corner of your videos?
I think what you are talking about are "cards." Here is some information on adding them support.google.com/youtube/answer/6140493?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
Great video! Stay safe, I keep seeing on the news how California is on fire. The BC interior has fires every year as well.
Thanks! There are a lot of fires around CA right now for sure.
