    Essaouira is a famous destination for people looking for a quiet place with only the sounds of birds all day long. When it comes to costs, it's very cheap compared to Marrakech or Agadir. The people are super friendly and no one is going to bother you, just be respectful. One of the most important things is that it's safe for women at night, and all the people in the city know each other. The city vibe is completely different and very peaceful.

    Carrefour’s prices in Essaouira are sky high. Most that one can buy there one can buy in town. I always walked to Carrefour. Taxi back if loaded. Good video, at least not annoying. For Canadians. 😀

    I have been to Essaouira three times in the last 11 months.
    My favourite place on to visit.
    Recently finished coming back from the Gnaou festival, a must.
    Between the chilled vibes, amazing french bouge dining to marvelous fresh fish, dancing away at Le Love, what more could a man want.
    Price is ridiculously cheap.
    Quality is super high.

    • @PureDetour
      @PureDetour  2 года назад +3

      Hi Shahram Thanks for the congrats on meeting our budget, it's been harder than we've anticipated!
      We actually finished filming the Q&A this morning, but thanks so much for the question! We actually addressed this question in a previous cost of living video: ruclips.net/video/V3ayn-fokuM/видео.html&ab_channel=PureDetour. For our first year, we were able to extend our Canadian public health care coverage while we're out of country. It only covers the very basics, and isn't the best option, and we'll have to consider other options going forward. Who do you use and what are your thoughts on th at provider?

      @@PureDetour Hi guys, Thanks for replying to my question. I just watched the video. I had watched it back then but didn't mind to watch it again. It was good to see the prices a few month ago and compare them to the prices now :)
      I am using Desjardins travel and health insurance for multiple trips per year for now. But it's more for frequent travelling rather than fulltime travels. I have been back to Canada since a few weeks and preparing for the next trip. Looking forward to watching the Q&A video. Keep doing your videos. I really llike them and you guys. :)

    liked the video... but at the same time was very dissapointing. The costs are the totals for the month and not individual prices ... what you spend in a month can be totaly different of what i would spent ... it depends on individual life standards ...
    what i have learned here is that i can survive in morroco with 1600€.
    was that the point of the video ?
    EXAMPLE:
    what do i learn about eating out in moroco if you say to me you have spent 150 dollars in 1 month in restaurants ? .. basically nothing
    What i want to know is that in average a low grade restaurant meal costs 6 ...10...20 dolars for one person.

    • @PureDetour
      @PureDetour  Год назад

      This is a good point. We are trying to give an overall monthly cost for people like ourselves who spend a longer time in a destination. But, we should include a breakdown of the costs more directly. For example, we could have gone somewhere to eat only once at a really fancy place and spent 150, or gone out everyday, how would you know? So it's a deal, if you subscribe to our channel, the next cost of living we do (which probably won't be out until February), we're going to say that one of our viewers, Andre, gave us a great tip about food costs and then we'll break down the meal prices a little bit further. Then let us know what you thought of it. We're still kind of new to this so constructive feedback like this helps us get better. If you have any other suggestions on how to make the videos more helpful, we'd love to hear it!

      By the way, a cheap wrap or sandwich or breakfast on the street is about $2 USD while a nicer sit down meal (seafood, lambchops) is about 15 USD per person

    • @PureDetour
      @PureDetour  4 месяца назад

      Sorry to say, it sounds like you got ripped off. Our total was $46 for the entire 4 weeks and that included a private car we shared with another couple to get to Essauoira from Marrakech. The local taxis were less than $1 per person anywhere within the city limits. I am sure prices have gone up since we were there though. We spent the month of March 2022 in Essaouira but I highly doubt they have gone that much

    • @PureDetour
      @PureDetour  3 месяца назад

      Not many. We stayed within the Medina and you can walk to most places in Essaouira. If I had to guess maybe 10 trips max in a local taxi. Like I said the biggest chunk of that was the private car we hired to get to Essaouira from Marrakech and we split that with another couple.

    I always wonder what the source of income is for all these people on the road travelling the world and making RUclips videos. It can’t be all AdSense revenue. I can’t even afford a single vacation abroad in my lifetime while working full time.

    • @PureDetour
      @PureDetour  2 года назад +1

      Hi! We are new to RUclips and only monetized a month ago, so our adsense revenue is next to nothing, a few dollars a day. We did save for enough to last about 2 years on the road before we left, and Angela works part-time as a business consultant online/remote, which has prevented us from dipping into our savings. I'm sure that every travel vlogger on youtube has a different story, but this is ours and so far it's been working for us. Also, we are travelling very slowly, usually a month in each city (airbnbs get much cheaper per night rates when you book for 4 weeks), and moving very short distances between cities so so that keeps costs much lower on flights transportation. this helps it to make the costs much less than what we used to spend for 2 week vacations when we were working full time. Happy to answer any more questions you might have and thanks so much for watching!
