Out of all the major full-service U.S. carriers, all but one treat transcontinental flights as special flights, with extra service and amenities, almost like a mini long-haul flight. That one airline is Alaska Airlines. While other carriers use specially equipped A321s, 757s, and widebodies, Alaska uses their 737s (since their Airbus fleet is getting phased out) which are a lot smaller than what you would expect on flights this long and also popular. There is no extra service for the passengers in Main Cabin and when seated in First, you receive the same service you would on a short-haul domestic flight. This is because Alaska's fleet is very streamlined so they don’t really have dedicated planes for specific routes which is why there are no Flat-Bed seats for a longer transcon flight. Although the flight went well overall, I would say if you want a little more elevated service, don’t choose Alaska for a transcon flight.
