The Game Boy Game That Never Existed

- A GameBoy-style animation I created for my latest 8-bit music release "New World Unlocked". This is my most ambitious video project to date, I spent around 100 hours drawing all the pixel art from scratch in Photoshop and animating it frame-by-frame in Final Cut Pro.
I learned a ton in the process and I hope to keep making pixel art in the future. If you're interested in a "making of" video, let me know in the comments. My main inspiration (for both the music and video) was the Game Boy games I grew up on - Zelda (Link's Awakening), Metroid II, Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge, Super Mario Land and many more.

This is so amazing. Did you spend time as a kid with the Gameboy just up to your ear listening to every part? This speaks to me on that level when I spent my time using my Gameboy as a pillow until I understood every part. I know this is a niche thing and it may not get millions of views, but understand that this means so much to me. Thanks for this. I'll be back.
Thanks so much! Yes, I would listen to my favourite GB tracks on repeat, listening to every nuance! Some of the games (like Belmont’s Revenge) had a “sound test” mode which I loved.

I really like the squirming and unexpected harmonic progressions. Most of the cadences, resolutions, and key changes were wonderfully refreshing and courageous.

Honestly, this video, as well as your live action one, are so underrated. There should be SOOO many more likes than there are on this right now (617 at the time of this post).
Your music is so gosh darn good, it should absolutely be classic games like this (even if they aren't GB). I mean, it could even be featured in newer games that invoke that retro feel. For example, games like Shovel Knight.

Yeah it’s not supposed to “make sense” on GB. It could work with a MIDI controller though, control the game with a keyboard ;)
