What always impressed me about steve was how spot on and perfect his notes were live. Like the dude had the music flowing through his veins with surgical precision.

It's really noticeble when people do really good - amazing evern -cover versions. Note perfect, but just all the very small things are hard to get sounding like Steve. Makes you realize just how good Steve is and realize how he's worked on how he wants every single note to sound and how to play that note. I'd love to see him practicing.. a fly on the wall.

Love him or hate him, he is one of the most entertaining guitar players to watch because he is so passionate when he plays. A stark contrast to polyphia so that’s why that collab was so good.
The brushing hair during the song…..my son saw this video and then proceeded to do this while playing in his school jazz band. My wife had no idea why I broke down laughing so hard during the performance.
If you want truly ridiculous, maybe I’ll request his Hydra video. I thought it was him pranking us but no, he actually wrote a song using…..I won’t spoil it.
Thanks for reacting to this. I think tomorrow is Polyphia with a special guest who plays completely different from Vai. Should be interesting to see you watch that.

@@JustinPanariello Nope. I will send some more requests soon and will probably add that song. Not my favorite from him but what he does is quite impressive. It is kind of gimmicky but.....

I saw himi n a pretty small venue - Yokohama in 2014 - much smaller than the Tokyo venue a day or two earlier. Stood right at the front.. and he just made it all look so so effortless - his playing and stage presence antics. Just amazing to see it done metres away. Effortless, but he was working his ass off. a few drops of his sweat landed on my hand.

Steve said his influences for this song were Jimi Hendrix’s Villanova and Carlos Santana

When I was a teeny bopper, I thought Eddie Van Halen was the greatest guitarist of all time. Then in my adult hood, I was introduced to Steve Vai and Joe Satriani

I like that Charlie Brown teacher-voice shit...😆 He's not one of my very favorites, but he's certainly a great player

Saw him with DLR and between him, Sheehan & Bissonette they did a good job of almost completely stealing the show from Roth with their stage antics and performances, it was art.

I'm not the greatest Vai fan. I have 3 or 4 albums, but I generally have a tough time listening to most of his stuff. However, this performance is legendary, IMO.
