      It would not make any sense, especially considering that outside of the rather basic combat hub ODST's have, they o not have the required armor to actually utilize a hub interface like master chief, who has a multi-billion dollar suit with a reactor inside powerful enough to operate and recharge shields, hud, keep a AI operational, and track the amount of ammo he has on count. It is likely that the chips in marines helmets are more or less just used like another version of Dog tags, though these ones would be viewed incase they died under suspicious circumstances, but overall it is not likely that ODSTs have a hud that can play back recordings of others helmets.

    • @DecidedlyNinja
      @DecidedlyNinja 3 года назад +122

      @@funkmantim2661 You are basing your conclusion on absolutely nothing. Why _wouldn't_ an ODST helmet be able to play recordings? It doesn't take a nuclear reactor and 500 kilos of incredibly sophisticated technology to do that.

    • @funkmantim2661
      @funkmantim2661 3 года назад +7

      @@DecidedlyNinja Of course not, but consider this, which would be more useful to a ODST, the ability to rarely get the chance to watch previous soldier's demise (admit it, the whole bit in CE was literally just for the sake of a plot point), or put the funds towards other features like radios, target assistance, or even just a weaker form of the shield spartans have? Plus, the chance that a ODST squad is sent in to retrieve something is not exactly something we seen them do, most of the time they are dropped in for rapid assault, hell, it is kinda in the name, Orbital Shock Drop Troopers.
      Also design wise, their helmets kinda HAVE to be made for a normal human being, even with military training they are already completely covered in a protective suit with multiple pieces of what appears to be some form of metal armor on them, and even their helmets are probably bulky already, jamming in a device to reply events woul just weigh them down more. A Spartan could care less since their armor is literally heavier than the person inside of and probably next to them.

      like dude what do you think a hud is?
      it's a monitor that uses the glass to refract the projection.
      whatever input you give it it'll display it.
      It's not scifi tech, it's already in use (Pilots, google glass is a hud)
      your basing your assumptions off of nothing. Not even reaility.

    • @funkmantim2661
      @funkmantim2661 3 года назад +1

      @@missfire9480 Ah yes, google glass, a CIVILIAN grade piece of equipment not meant to be out on the battlefield where it can more than likely break easily.
      Now imagine making a military grade google glass, meant to be in the field of combat, let alone in a combat zone filled with many, and I mean MANY aliens who all do not have a habit of letting humanity regain ground, so the idea of recovering soldier video chips is not exactly top priority to begin with, let alone viewing them in the MIDDLE OF A GODDAMN BATTLEFIELD most the time.
      As for the hud, you should already know that the in-game hud is almost always meant for player convenience anyways, why the hell would a hud be able to track your physical health as if it was just a life bar? let alone ammo count of random weapons you pick up on the battlefield immediately, along with the amount of grenades you have at any given point WITHOUT you manually adjusting the count yourself. It might make some sense for, idk, a hyper lethal classified spartan with a AI in his helmet most of the time to help keep track, but a ODST or Marine? At most, the Hud for a ODST probably mostly consists of if their radio is on, if their light is on, or if something important on their armor is busted. Oh and before you think of going "Oh well it is future humanity, they would have a hud regardless" Also remember that elites also have huds, including the arbiter when ever you play as him, despite the fact that they do not have any technology visibly covering their eyes during combat.
      Then for a more in universe answer, resources, after all, humanity is literally losing a war, they are probably diverting all resources they can towards actual ways to combat the enemy, not watch youtube videos on the battlefield, regardless how small the resources are.

      @@Williaso According to the timeline of the Battle for Earth on Halopedia, the journey from New Mombasa to Installation 05 took 13 days. October 20th-November 2nd. The battle of Installation 05 ended on November 4th, and Keyes, Johnson and the Arbiter journeyed back to Earth on the fastest of the Sangheili's ships. They arrived in the Sol system on November 15th, and Johnson "interviewed" Vergil that day. Which was less than 48 hours before Chief arrived on the Forerunner Keyship, on November 17th.
      The games don't outright say it, but there is a significant passage of time during the "off-screen" Slipspace journeys. There's also all of this "timey-wimey mumbo jumbo" about something called "causal reconciliation", where slipspace travel puts a strain on the fabric of space-time. Since human ships lack "reconciliation technology", the passage of time while in slipspace can differ in a range of 5-10% in comparison to real space. Time can pass either faster or slower while traveling in slipspace, which is part of the reason why the UNSC still uses cryonic suspension of personnel during long-term voyages, the other reason being that frozen people don't need to eat, drink, and breathe. Bungie could have gone with the excuse that the In Amber Clad experienced extreme time dilation during the slipspace jump in Halo 2, but they didn't bother.
      Tl;Dr: Bungie just wanted an excuse to have the Master Chief drop in an ODST pod in Halo 2, so they acted like the journey from New Mombasa to Installation 05 took just a few minutes/hours. I'm sure there's more stuff I could include, but I already spent like 20 minutes looking up the info for this comment.

      @@raspyApostle williaso ended up responding to my transcript attempt with the actual transcript.
      "They're all overly positive reviews about the game that would make you think it's the greatest thing ever made.
      ‘Most shooters are all about constant action and exhilarating music, but Halo 3 ODST isn’t afraid to calm things down. This could’ve been a risky decision, but it was done very well. And the payoff is that every bit of action feels that much more intense and rewarding. Let me tell you that walking the war-torn streets of New Mombasa, accompanied only by the amazing, somber soundtrack of this game, is really going to be breathtaking.’
      ‘Probably my favorite in the series, the atmosphere is incredible, gameplay is much more fun since you arent a super soldier, proving real difficult at times. I never gave the story a real chance until recently, and now i have, i can say for certain its one of the most thought out and well delivered stories of the franchise. Melancholy is abundant, the sense of truly being alone to fend for yourself through the Mombasa streets isnt replicated anywhere else in Halo.’
      ‘ODST represents an interesting change of pace from the other games I've played so far in the series (Reach through 3). It's more intense and involved missions are interspersed with quiet, meditative night sections in which ODST are attempting to locate other troops that they've become separated from.
      These night sections are sparsely populated with enemy troops, and feature louder and moodier music than the levels with more action. I never engaged with these enemy patrols unless I absolutely had to, preferring instead to reach the objective location and search for the clue that might lead me to my squadmates. Although these sections are simplistic, I liked them, and found it interesting to see just how, for instance, a helmet ended up embedded in a video screen or a sniper rifle ended up bent and hanging over a power line.
      The more action-oriented sections of the game are exactly what you'd expect from Halo. The weapons that you enjoyed in previous iterations will be the weapons you enjoy here, and the tactics necessary to tackle certain types of enemies will again be necessary. The only section I found irritating was one that was densely populated with Yanme'e covenant soldiers (flying bugs). I just never found a weapon that I was comfortable using against these guys.
      Overall, I appreciated the change of pace offered by ODST. I haven't played many first person shooters that so deliberately engineer an engagement curve to oscillate between tension and meditation. I also found the story involving the Huragok (the flying brain-looking creature) to be rather compelling. ODST is on par with the other solid offerings in the Master Chief Collection, Reach and Halo 3 - I'd say it's a superior game to 1 and 2.’" -Williaso

    I get that the ODST members were like Spec ops but the troopers in this game these mf were basically Spartans

    this is the only time i saw this but i think you can see a very small thing coming into the slipspace with the covenant carrier to the right, probably the frigate master chief is on, nice little detail they added
    Edit: here is time stamp, next to the odst pod infront of rookie, to left of the space elevator, i can say it is the frigate 1:54

    I mean if you got fingerless gloves or not, if your pod depressurises thats a mighty big hole to let in plasma during re-entry so hot that all that will be left when you hit the ground is a charred ODST Flavoured soup

    I'd say the reason at the beginning for the Rookie to not read the recording of MISS Naval Intelligence's helmet is because the helmet was completely scragged. Whereas the Guardsman in Halo 1 that Chief finds had his 'helmet' intact and basically untouched.

    What if the entirety of ODST didn’t happen and it’s actually a training simulation which explains Rookie seeing/hearing things that he didn’t see/hear happen and why he self inserts himself into those events. It’d also explain Sargent Johnson being in orbit around earth.

    Im glad Im not the only person who spent way too much time trying to figure out how Rookie figured out what the hell happened with his teammates. Good thing most UNSC tech is interlinked!

    My only thing is when you said it's Dystopian that the police have a pelican but a pelican is Halo's Helo and we do have police Helo's IRL plus there in a militaristic future and genocidal war

    • @juno4534
      @juno4534 3 года назад +2

      actually theres a canonical reason they probably made up to say why the police have pelicans and its because earth and basifally all human colonies are under a police and surveillance state

    • @caterinabisceglie8390
      @caterinabisceglie8390 3 года назад

      I might add that before of the covenant's invasion, earth colonies were uprising, and created a terrorist organization called "the insurrectionist"... So that's probably why the police have military grade weapons. There was a civil war around.
      I know that this video is old.

    Funky timeline can partially be explained with time travel. No that's not a joke, slipspace can do that for some reason.
