- I couldn't help myself! I had to test out the new NARS Explicit Lipstick formula. The shade I have is Take It Off.
Since filming this, I have seen the refills at the Mecca website, but there are only 10 shades available.

UPDATE Since filming this, I have found the refills on the Mecca website, but there are only 10 shades available.
Also I realised while editing that the claim is long lasting comfort, and not strictly long wearing… it is comfortable for around 5-6 hours, but if the lipstick doesn’t wear very long, neither does the comfort 😆

Hi Kat as someone who has an extremely cool undertone Nars is a favourite as they have undertones within their range and I can find shades that look on me how they do in the bullet (instead of turning orange within five minutes). Previously their lipstick was in cheap feeling components and I will be looking into the new range for a hopefully new favourite. I like a moisturising lipstick and don’t mind reapplying as long as it fades somewhat gracefully. Best wishes x

Lipsticks are my favourite makeup item to buy, but 66 dollars very high, specially Mecca doesn’t do sale. If I had to spend that much, probably YSL lipsticks because of their smell and I feel most nostalgic

The NARS Powematte are the best for not budging, obviously just a different formula/texture
This is exactly what I'm after in a lipstick ! I love the glamour of reapplying a pretty and comfortable lipstick. I'm in the same boat as you about bold lipsticks though! I'm currently on the hunt for a beautiful coral pink, but I can't really tell from the online swatches if there's one 😢
I love the audacious lipsticks and I hate to see them being discontinued but I know the brand has to keep up with what's popular. I like the Take It Off shade and would be keen to trying this new formula. It does look really pretty.

I have so many 💄 at home 😅 but I always go back to Clarins water lip stain 👌🏼
I always put on lipbalm with sunprotection first, I let it dry and then I use Clarins and let that dry aswell. If you want more colour just put on more and let each layer dry before adding more. Best result is if I put it on at night, in the morning I get the perfect natural colour on my lips and just put on lipbalm 👍🏼
Has anyone compared these to the Merit signature lipsticks? These sound so similar and if they are, that’s right up my alley! I’ll be interested to swatch in store
Probably still stick with my Mac lipsticks for $20 cheaper. The lack of access to the whole shade range for refills in Australia is disappointing

I'm surprised they marked it as long lasting, it didn't look like that for me from the start. Also, in South Korean commercials where the lipstick were worn by men, the colours were blotted and looked so gorgeous that it convinced me to buy those lipsticks.
I realized while editing that it’s technically marketed as long lasting comfort, which is different… but if the lipstick doesn’t last very long, neither does the comfort haha. However I do think the threshold for “long wearing comfort” vs “long wearing colour” is probably quite different ❤️
They are lovely blotted too, very versatile lipsticks. In the conclusion I am wearing it slightly blotted ☺️
I have a feeling these lipsticks are marketed like that due to Asian market, they're heavily promoted in South Korea and people there tend to like this kind of formula and wear it blotted.

Cute little cameo at the end! I’m not sure what Nars were thinking with this formula? Are they trying to be the “I’m not like other girls” cosmetic company? 😂 It just feels like they missed the mark formula wise. Did all the money get spent on the pretty refillable packaging? I do hope that soon enough ALL lipsticks will be refillable. In fact most products should be…even mascara where you could reuse the wand, give it a wash and buy a tube of mascara with a screw top lid where you remove the lip and insert the wand. Hmmm 🤔 Shark Tank anyone? 😂

It is a cute age! It was hectic with my first (likely neurodivergent kid) but with my second it’s a lot less stressful ☺️

When a lux/expensive lipstick has refills in the color that I'd want from them, I just buy the refill and keep whatever freshness cap that it came with. It isn't as pretty, but I don't have to pay the extra $10-25 for the packaging.
That's fair! I totally just use the refills for Hourglass, but I also often lose them, so there's that. I like the experience of the packaging, but I also love the shift to quality packaging that I don't have to throw out when the lipstick is done
So many lux refills don't turn/dispense the bullet without the case. The screw mechanism is in the case, not the refill. Of course you could de-pot the bullet, but why not just buy MAC at that point.

I swatched Anita, but there were much more mauve toned shades in the Audacious range. Blame in the new formula is supposed to be a dupe for Anita

They discontinued the majestic AUDACIOUS for a lipstick formula quite different.
I think it’s great EXPLICIT was created & released. I love the name. But they should have kept AUDACIOUS around as well since that was an iconic and much revered formula.
