Thanks for the video. I damaged the rear view mirror housing cover trim on my wife's 2018 RX450h. I was fortunate that everything still worked. Lexus and a few body shops wanted $1000+ to fix this cosmetic damage. Your video encouraged me to repair it myself. I found replacement options on ebay and amazon. I bought a $26.99 replacement from makerauto01 on ebay. It arrived quickly and I successfully followed the steps in the video. I would caution others to be careful with the mirror so as not to damage the control gear behind it. I would also suggest marking the control gear and its connection to make re-installation alignment easier. One lesson learned was related to the bolt that James cut. I also cut it to remove the old cover but I wanted to tighten the new cover so I spent a good deal of time using a dremel to clear the remaining plastic around the bolt. I was then able to back the bolt out with a plier. The area is so tight that a z shaped screwdriver wouldn't fit. Once I tightened the two bolts at the bottom the housing was very secure and properly aligned with the rest of the mirror assembly. I have since purchased a $12 set of ultra low profile offset screwdrivers that will make the job much easier if I ever have to do it again.

i got a parts mirror from car-part a salvage website... i i will use it to try and repair my existing which is likely a small motor that moves mirror side to side...many rx330 and rx350 use similar parts. Also the Highlander shares suspension parts with rx330. I have learned when working on delicate stuff, to put a large cardboard box (upside down) to act as a soft surface that if I drop something (mirror) it will hit the box before hitting the driveway. I like those magnetic chrome parts dishes at Harbor Freight, and i bought 2-3 of them to store my screws. I have a parts dish located at each area i'm working to separate the parts ..and I never use power tools like impact wrench or impact ratchets which Damage stuff. Thank yo for taking the time on this.

I replaced my 2022 RX350 driver side broken housing, the parts. I have to removed the door panel to get reach one screw instead of cut it. thanks for the video. installed back the mirror is tricky.
Cutting the tab to remove the lower black piece did not appeal so I took the mirror off the door and disassembled it to get at the buried screw. A little more work but it is done right.

So now i am here to research how to remove the plastic housing. It looks like you just pulled it off? There are no screws holding the back plastic housing cover?

However, when my mirror "unfolds" it goes FULLY OPEN to where it is facing away from the car, much like the position you had it in (and me as well) while you were working on it. It "folds" to where it's supposed to, but will not unfold to where it stopped before, it goes further open. Any thoughts?

Without taking the mirror off are you able to take just the top cover of , as i need to change the top cover ? if so does it have any screws attached or just clicks taking out ?
There is a small screw holding the cover at bottom. It needs special screw driver to take it off. I just cut it off. Better to take off the screw because if you cut it, there is not fully attached at the bottom when you put it back.

I got mine for $68 a whole assembly and its from nx200t...same as rx except where it touches the exterior door. Other than that, its all the same. I also had to cut that piece with a screw in it.

Taobao is Chinese site and cant find it there. the one i got is called kool vue mirrors from carparts.com. but these can be had from ebay as well with different names. for some reason, the RX is more expensive than the NX by a lot. The quality of these aftermarket mirrors are outstanding. I got the whole assembly for $68 for an NX knowing without the camera (mine has a camera), but it didnt matter, that specific trim is the same. Hope this helps people out there.

A mockery of Lexus, I'd say. If you are too lazy to remove the mirror completely, it is better to give the car to a qualified specialist. I wouldn't be able to drive a car knowing that somewhere there is a loose screw or a broken plastic tab.
I tell you a secret....THERE ARE NO QUALIFIED SPECIALISTS... The qualified specialist is YOU and your belief that you will fix it correctly without damaging it and developing patience. I had enough mechanics and "specialists" damage my vehicles and then CHARGE ME then I find out later their SH***TTY Work.

Cutting the tab to remove the lower black piece did not appeal so I took the mirror off the door and disassembled it to get at the buried screw. A little more work but it is done right.
