    Harbor freight sells cheap engine (not outboard) stands with casters. Modify them with three sheets of plywood. Maybe a few more dollars, but only 15 minutes of your time. $62 regular, on sale for $50 all the time.

    Great tip on getting the casters, thanks!
    If I were going to make several of these, I'd put something, like thin, 1/4"? plywood on top when cutting one out, then using that as template for the others. But you have that CNC machine so no need... :)

    Niffy little stand. Seems good for transportation purposes but when it comes to testing a running motor in a bucket of water, the one with the wheels is for the job.

      Its a good measurement, no matter what unit of measurement your country uses, it still translates. A good universal measurement.
      Here in the US, its 21 cu.ft
      Canada, 595 Liters.

    Looks like this stand is perfect for your midget motor lol I have a 9.9 Merc motor that would work on as well. But then i have a bit older 25hp Merc and a really old ,great running 40hp Merc motor thats about the size of a huge trashcan because its so old.LOL I need to make a stand that will hold the 40 and 25hp motors and then a smaller one for the two 9.9s i have. One runs while the other was offered to me for parts for free by the guy i bought the motor off of. The 9.9 was used at a boat rental place i purchased it from along with one of their fiber boats.Back in the day i paid 400bucks for the Boat,motor and spare motor for parts and i thought that was cheap.The boat was a tank though and bent the truck rack it was put on to get it to my house! hehehe I loved that old rental boat it had a nice hand crafted wooden rail around the whole thing a nd the seats were such that it only had drain holes to allow the water to flow back to where the plug was. So i could use sections ,between the seats to toss the crabs until we got back to dock with them to throw in a basket! lol It was easy to keep a large container/bucket/cooler for a make shift live bait well for us if we were fishing and Could fits 4 people on this outboard quite comfortably! It had a 1person built in seat in the bow and then three other bench style seats in it. The boat was so heavy and sea worthy that once i threw a new 25hp motor on it the thing still got up on plain! Sorry i ever got rid of it?! :>( In any case i want to build stands my self to better store the motors i have because sooner then later i will get another boat. If anything were to happy in our area i may need another way to get out of my area of the state other then automobile transportation? Living on South Jersey's southern most point in Cape May if it were summer and we had to evacuate the area for any reason we may have to bug out via the Delaware bay. We may be forced to leave our vehicles behind and flee on a boat. This one would have been perfect for that as it was a very solid boat fitted with a nice canvas cover it would be the fastest way out of our state with Delaware only 17miles away. If we had to drive and in our tourist area if it was loaded with people it would be bumper to bumper traffic and we may never make it out of the area before what ever emergency hits? So keeping these motors store properly and getting a new boat is paramount for me.....Thanks this is a great idea and i can duplicate it very easily although i already have the materials for either stand i would need so its kind of free materials as all of it is left over from old jobs or trash picked from dumpsters as many builders are very wasteful! :>/ Well thanks again for the video and the idea! good stuff

    I like your design, it might hold as big as a 15hp ! I am an AOMCI member and go to a lot of swap meets and being able to dismantle them for space is a plus . Between my buddies Ron and Phil and Ben and I we usually bring 20 or so outboards to the meets . Painted in Holiday Bronze or Sea Horse Green or black they would show really well ! I think the square blocks might hold better and a 10 deg. Angle on the transom plate might help . Just a thought ! 👍👍

    Nice.
    This actually gave me a lot of ideas for new outboard stands. I have 5 outboards and zero good stands for them.
    Would it be nonsense to try that with a U-beam as the post? I would imagine it would be a bit more rigid compared to the pipes.
    ...ain't saying nothing no more about your audio "improvements"
    (just stop buying your audio stuff from Eugene)

    • @BrandonsGarage
      @BrandonsGarage  3 года назад

      U-Beam, or C-channel, is what the factory one uses. What ideas do you have?
      The U channel will be more difficult to install, when I scale it up for a larger engine, say a 40 HP+, I'll figure that out.
      The audio used to be perfect, until I lost my phone; The replacement cuts in and out, and is just ridiculous.
      I bought a $450 entry lever professional camera. Good audio, terrible video quality. Tried the ladies iPhone 10/11?, figured that would do it...
      Great audio, but lighting in the garage would need to be absolutely perfect, as it tries to over adjust the darker areas. On a black power-head, you can't see anything other than a dark area where parts might be.
      I need to figure something out before summer comes and I start getting into projects again.

    Buying a new bit to drill the 7/8” holes? Why? You’re cutting the squares on the CNC, just run a drilling tool path and drill them out while the machine cuts out the parts.

    • @BrandonsGarage
      @BrandonsGarage  3 года назад +1

      When I read this comment, I thought to myself "Why didnt I do that?!"
      Then I remembered.
      A) The spacing needs to be the same on the base as the head unit. Head unit needs to be drilled after its assembled; by the time that happens I would have forgotten the spacing.
      However now that I think about it, I could have made a drill guide out of the remaining scrap to solve this.
      B) I only have enough tubing left to make 2 stands. The next stand may use iron pipe, or conduit, which may have a different OD.
      C) I forgot the 3rd reason.
      Now, I could do all of the cuts in the head and base should I use square tubing.
      Problem there is I would need to go in with a square broach to square off the rounded corners.
